Hey Smurlene! How's the exercise rampage going??? :D

I made it to the gym last night for 30 minutes on the elliptical even after I ended up working 45 minutes late. I was VERY proud of myself! I'm going to reward myself for staying late last night and leave 15 minutes early and spend that time at the gym tonight!

I'm not big on math but I worked out that if I go to the gym after work (which is halfway home) I spend 15 minutes less in traffic. That has been a big motivator!!

Hope you're having a great day so far!

Tina--Way to go on the exercise! That is fabulous. I really admire you for going even though you were stuck at work longer than you expected. It would have been so easy for you (and me) to blow it off and go home.

The exercise rampage seems to be going well. Yesterday, I did my normal morning Curves/walking routine (about 1 1/2 hours of exercise), then last night, I went walking up some hills in the area for about an hour. So, I think I probably walked about 6 1/2 miles and did circuit training for 1/2 hour. Not too bad.

I have learned several things about myself in the past year: (1) I have to exercise to see timely weight loss results and to firm the spots where the loss has ocurred, (2) I will maintain exercise in my daily life if I vary the types of activities that I do, (3) I need to set goals and work towards them, exercise has to have a purpose, which could be as simple as getting to the grocery store or just having fun, and (4) I can become more fit.

WOW! You are doing so well!! If I recall, you didn't exercise at all when you first started? That is quite an accomplishment!

I'm actually looking forward to the weekend to have more time for exercise! Normally I look forward to beer and wings on the weekend

I think that learning about your body is the most important thing to managing weight and it sounds like you've really learned a lot about yourself! For so many of us diet or exercise is not enough and it has to be both. I'm definitely one of them. I also try to think about how much my body is firming up as I lose weight. I think about those people that lose weight quickly from surgery and have to have painful plastic surgery to remove all the skin. I'd rather my skin shrink with my body slowly :)

Have a great rest of your day! I'd better get some work done so I can go the gym 15 minutes early...what a treat  !

Tina--I have been trying to reply to your message since you posted, but there is something up with these boards. (Or my computer!)

In any case, you are right, I didn't exercise much (and certainly not regularly) before SB. I did some walking and stuff like that, but I couldn't go far and I didn't do it in any kind of routine. So, I feel pretty good about how far I have come in that regard. Glad to hear that you are back to it.

I am 8 dpo and feeling barfy, dizzy, and my breasts are tender. AF must be on her way soon. If my charting is right, I should start spotting on Tuesday and the real bleeding should begin by next Friday. Hopefully, it will pass quickly because I have a bit of a vacation coming up soon after. It is spending time with family, but no one wants to be on their period while traveling.

I haven't posted my eating plans lately, but I figured I might today since it was my of my favs:

B: 1/2 turkey sand with mayo, lettuce and cheese; 1/4 bell pepper, some strawberries, milk
S: oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, milk
L: steak, ww pasta with basil and garlic, asparagus, blueberries
D: ??

Hope all of you are eating well this weekend.

Well, I finished Harry Potter and went to bed early last night, yet for some reason I cannot seem to shake this major case of the blues that is hanging over my head. I suppose it is probably due to my impending AF and the fact that I am spending a lot more time alone than usual, but just because I have identified the source doesn't mean that it is any easier to deal with. Sigh.....

I have a load of work to do today, and yet I keep looking outside longingly. I just want to go for a walk and do some exercising. But today is Sunday, which is the only day I do not workout and I have to get this work done, Though I am really angry with myself for taking these two projects to begin with. I guess I will be glad when the money starts rolling in.

Anyway, I had better get back to it. The day is just going by and I have not made much progress. I hate days like this, but maybe I will sneak out for an evening stroll tonight. :D

Hi Smurlene! Hope you are feeling better today!

I managed to get a lovely upper respiratory infection on Sunday but we have a brand new puppy that needs to be walked so I've been out exercising anyway! I didn't think I was going to make it this morning I was breathing so hard...not to mention the humidity here right now makes it hard to breathe anyway. I feel really good for getting out though and hopefully it will get easier. Both doggies are enjoying it so much! If you want to see her I posted a pic in Legal's journal.

Have a GREAT week and I'll keep checking in on you!

I have been having the worst time posting to this board lately. GRRRR!

Anyway, so I gained about five lbs this past week because of TOM. I mean, the bloat is serious. It is starting to go away, but still! Very frustrating and tiring.

Sorry to hear you were sick, Tina. Hope you are on the mend.

I am pretty overwhelmed with work now. Too much than I can handle, really, but exercise and eating fairly right is getting me through it.

Tomorrow's menu:
B: 1/2 ham sandwich, red peppers, strawberries, milk
S: almonds, orange
L: chicken, penne pasta, veggies, milk
D: popcorn, cheese

One more week before I go on a kind of vacation, though I will taking my work along with me. Blech!

I have been up since 7:45, thinking that I would get my grocery shopping done before it got too hot and before my favorite show, Sunday Morning, came on. But it was storming by the time I got dressed, so now I have to wait until 10:30 to head out, which kind of sucks.

Anyway, I also have to wash clothes, do a ton of work, grade papers, read, well...the list just has no end.

I think I am doing pretty well. I am having some GERD issues for some reason. I was hoping that once I quit eating tomaotes again, then pain would go away, but it is still here. Must be something else I am eating.

My GERDy problems disappeared. Thank goodness. I was having chest pains for a week!

I am pretty beat. Staying in town with some friends, which means late nights. Thankfully, I have been able to stay on the Beach for the most part. Had a little ice cream one day and a Kashi Crunch Bar another, but for the most part, I am staying true to the plan.

I just finished my first week of a fitness challenge on the boards. I am part of Team Less Cheeky, which is totally hysterical to me. It involves a lot of working out and stretching and stuff, which is really good. I need something to keep me on track. I love my friends, but it is hard to get any exercise in, except for maybe some walking. Hoping to go swimming later this week.

At the moment, I am doing my share of the cleaning around here and getting ready to do a little work while my friends are out. I am not sure what we are having for dinner, but I will make sure it is as Beachy as can be.

Today's Menu:
B--1/2 turkey sandwich on rye with strawberries and milk
S--1 cup of peanut butter chocolate ice cream (oops!)
L--chicken, veggies, ww penne pasta, pear
D--???

Hello, team mate. I was here looking at my own journal when I saw yours. So, I stopped in and did some reading - started at the beginning and skipped to current entries. I am so impressed at your incredible weight loss. Your discipline is inspiring.

Thank you also for having the courage to share some of the painful experiences that have affected your life. I hope your courage inspires all of us to face the problems we are having, have had, etc. and learn to leave them behind us as we move forward. I'm so glad to have learned some more about your journey. Best - Rose

Hi Rose--Thanks for dropping by my journal. Somedays I forget that others can (and do) read it.

One of the main differences with SB and other plans I have been on (maybe it is just me and my stage in life) is that I have and am continuing to take a psychological journey. I mean I have always speculated about causes and motivations in regards to weight loss, but until I started the Beach, I hadn't really dug deep into the really issues surrounding my weight. I am not an emotional eater, I have learned, but emotions definetely impact my sucess or failure at weight loss.

Do you have a link to your journal?
