It'll lose the weight when it wants to :D

I'm sure everyone on this board would love to tell all of their excess weight to drop off like that

Well, I think it's OK to set goals. :) If I don't reach them, I'm still going to Maine. ;)

On a positive note, the nutritionist weighed me this morning and said I lost 2 pounds. I'm still at 11.5 on my scale, but I must've been having a "heavy" day the last time I weighed in on her scale. Anyway, it was nice to hear there was a loss.

I'm really working on making those changes I talked about yesterday, so we'll see what happens. I have a good feeling about it. :)

Sure, it's ok to set goals, as long as you're realistic about it and don't go off the deep end if you don't reach them ;) like some people do.

I try not to make goals, I just take it one day at a time because I never know what tomorrow's going to bring and my weekends are almost always out of whack.

I don't, so no worries. :) I'm pretty much used to not reaching my weight-loss goals by a specific time. I can only do what I can do, y'know? I'm trying to think positively about this, though.

That's good to hear, although I figured you didn't :)

There's just some people out there who get all bent out of shape if they don't meet this goal or that goal and think that if they didn't they somehow failed. They fail to realize that as long as the scale is going in the right direction they're winning.

ya know i'm all for setting REALISTIC goals but i think if we set ANY goals, realistic or NOT it's not what we do with setting the goals so much as how we REACT when we don't get there. ... if we don't give up and keep on going then what harm did it cause?

Yeah, I agree, Nessa. The most important thing is to keep going. I intend to subscribe to this WOE for the rest of my life. Even if I don't lose another pound, my blood sugar is stable (without any diabetes meds), my cholesterol has gone down from 305 (yes, 305!) to 213 (I'm trying to get it down even lower, as I don't want to take cholesterol meds), and my triglicerides are normal for the first time in my recollection. My physical health is improving notably on the SBD. I'm not going anywhere.

That said, I reserve the right to grump once in a while when my weight stalls. :)

Oh, I had quite an adventure today making some pearled barley for the first time. I'm going to start a thread in the food forum to get some ideas.

What exactly is pearled barley? Not sure I have ever seen that in food store.

Honestly, I have no idea what the difference is between regular barley and pearled barley. In a post by Kimboroni (whose knowledge I greatly respect), she recommended "pearl barley." Don't quote me on this, but I think she said it was a low GI grain. Well, the boxes in the supermarket say, "pearled barley." So, that's what I have. I assume that "pearled" and "pearl" are the same thing.

Did I just confuse you even more?
