Hey, NYC Gal, thanks for stopping by my journal. :)

I've never tried quinoa. I've heard that it can taste bitter or soapy? How did you cook it so that wasn't the case?

Hey, LB! :)

On the box I have, it doesn't say anything about rinsing the quinoa, but all the recipes in the recipe forum say to do so. The first time I made it, I didn't rinse. It was a little bitter. This time I rinsed it, which I have to tell ya, was quite a PIA. I don't have a colander with small enough holes, so I put 3 paper towels in the colander and rinsed. The quinoa stuck to the paper towels, and I ended up throwing out quite a bit of it! :x

In addition to rinsing, I made the pilaf recipe in the recipe forum. I chopped veggies, sauteed the veggies and some slivered almonds in a pan, added the veggies, almonds, sea salt, and oregano to the cooked (in vegetable stock) quinoa, and stirred well.

The only thing I didn't do (that was recommended in the recipe forum) was spread out the cooked quinoa and let it dry. I figured this was just WAY too much work to have some @$#% quinoa!

Anyway, it came out pretty good, but I don't know how often I'm going to go through this process.

Paging Nessa! -- how do you make your quinoa? :)

I figured it was in the sticky somewhere, I just haven't had time to look, will soon though.

Got a dental appointment tomorrow to get my teeth cleaned and I also have a couple of pools to clean. DD's MIL is keeping Joseph until 2 when she has to go to work and that should be enough time to get what I need done.

I will, once I get home! No more grocery shopping for me this week with vacation on Saturday. I'm doing my best to make do with what's already in the house!

Ugh, I hate queasy tummies.

I have to go back at least once more-the lady got as much stuff off as she could but she couldn't get everything-the dentist is going to have to numb my mouth so he can clean underneath my gums where she couldn't get without hurting me.

She was so impressed with how quiet I was the whole time that I got two toothbrushes :D

My stomach is finally starting to settle down, but I'm weak and tired (that always happens to me after a bad stomach day).

Nessa, I know parts of Brooklyn very well. I worked in Brooklyn for 7 years, and my friend from that job (and her husband) lived on the border of Brooklyn Heights. We used to hang out in Brooklyn Heights all the time. They later moved to Ohio. :(

Chatty, congrats on the 2 toothbrushes! :)
