I honestly think that the divorce has been the best thing for me on multiple levels. Once I told him it was over, it felt like I could breathe for the first time since our house burned down two years before. And for the first time in 11 years, I am enjoying a summer vacation. I have always worked two jobs, and I could never have time to just exist. It has been very nice!

yeah I felt that way about the first two divorces....

you do what you need to do to take care of you darling.

This will be my second divorce. we have been together for 11 years. Hard to walk away from that, but I can't take it anymore. On so many levels he is the sweetest guy you will ever meet, but he just wasn't a partner. Didn't contribute to our sucess or well being as a couple.

I am glad to see you posting, Smurlene. :) Very glad to hear that you have had time to just do some stuff you wanted to do. Congrats on the smaller size, too! :)

Sorry you are having a rough time. But I bet now you are glad you are not going to be a single Mom. Every cloud has a silver lining, right?

I wouldn't have minded being a single mom. My occupation lends itself to such things. It would have just made divorcing more difficult.

I am making chili tonight with a big salad. I love cooking. Just wish I was in my own kitchen. :(

Warning....Curves Bashing Right Ahead....WarningSo, I am somewhat (okay, really) frustrated with Curves. I had been told by a number of people (here and elsewhere) that they do funny things with measurements, and it was so right. I go there today and everything is totally off. It showed that I gained in measurements everywhere, which is really impossible because I have gone down another full size since my last weigh in! I didn't mention it, though, and the woman taking my measurements noticed that it had to be wrong. ARRRRGGHHH! This seems like my best reason yet to quit.

Meanwhile, I did lost another couple of pounds of body fat and 11 lbs overall.

I think I probably lost muslce while I was on vacation. It is just so frustrating. I had inaccuracies!!!

But, I know that I am doing very well, and really, that is all that matters, but when you pay for something you expect it to be correct.

Hey Smurlene! Just thought I'd check in on you! Sorry to hear about the divorce but it seems you have a good, positive attitude about it as always :)

I had similar trouble at Curves if that makes you feel any better. I was going and losing and everything was great but it got really boring and I didn't think they were very professional. I had to beg them to take my measurements again and mine were off as well. You're better off just doing them yourself so you always know where the tape measure goes!

Sounds like you are doing really well and still losing all over! I finally started at the gym and suddenly I'm exercise crazy! I even ordered a new swimsuit for the water aerobics class. It's so insanely hot here already that the pool is a good incentive to get to the gym. I even got up and did 20 minutes of cardio this morning so I only have to do 40 after work which I hope to make a regular habit.

Glad to here you're okay. Keep us posted!

Tina--It is wonderful to hear from you! It sounds like you are doing really great. I, too, love exercise, but this Curves thing is so dreadful. I have a gym at my work, but I don't go in much during the summer. So, I am going to stick with Curves for one more month. Gosh, it is so darn boring.

I honestly don't know where this freaky positive attitude I have comes from, but I am sure glad I have it!

Onward....

Well, I am back in the groove. Been back home alone with my soon-to-be-ex for over a week, and I have to say that it has been better than I could have imagined. I loved him, that is for sure, but these last two and a half years have been so tense that home no longer seemed like a refuge.

I was really pleased to find out that I had lost 11 more pounds and I ovulated on my own. Now, if I can just duplicate that month. :D It would be nice to lose 10 lbs a month and keep it off, but I don't think that is possible for me. The only way I have ever been able to lose that amount consistently was when I was on Atkins. I can't do Atkins again. South Beach is about eating right for life.

I do look noticeably thinner and even younger. When I was a kid, I looked much older than I was. Now, people swear that I am younger than I am, even more so in the last few months. My new hair stylist thinks that I am 25! The owner of my gym thinks I am in my early 20s! I feel great. Really energetic and happy. I haven't been truly happy since my house burned down, and even then, I was pretty sad. Now, I feel like a new me. The old has sloughed off and the new is blossoming from the leavings.

It has been awhile since I have had time to write. I am enjoying my mini-vacation, like the rest of the country it seems.

Picnic last night...didn't bust my plan, though. Didn't eat corn on the cob or any of those things that I can't have. I was pretty happy with myself. I was sorely tempted, but I was glad for it. I did splurge on decaf ice mocha with extra whip, but that isn't as bad as what I could have done.

I head back to work next week. I am kind of looking forward to it, and also not. It will be good to get back into the swing of things.

I get weighed next weekend. Hopefully, I will not have gained. That is all I really care about. I know that some people have urged me to lose weight quicker, but I have no interest in that. It is unsafe and certainly not permanent.

Making cod with asparagus and wild rice tomorrow night for dinner. Mmmm.

Tony--I think I am doing pretty well. Of course, I just had a delicious chocolate and fruit dessert crepe, but it was worth it. :D

Barb--Thanks for your well wishes. Things are going great this summer. Enjoying my time off and walking just about every day.
