It shouldn't be a problem as an occasionally P2 treat. You seem to have the right idea... this won't be a daily indulgence. That's my opinion!

The light fraps are NOT SB approved because they do have sugar in the base. :( I was just at Starbucks today and asked. Sorry. :(

Just for clarification, my response was with regard to the following post NOT with regard to the lite fraps.

It's a joy not to have to give up my beloved morning double-short-nonfat-extra-hot-no-foam lattes (this is day 2 on the beach for me...)

However, there is one product which hasn't come up (as far as I know) on
the Forum, and which I do like to splurge on occasionally - the new canned "Doubleshot Light" beverage. I *think* it could qualify as an occasional "Sweet Treat. At least on Phase 2 - maybe not on Phase 1. Your thoughts?

Here are the specs:

Calories: 70
Total Fat: 4g
Cholesterol: 15 mg
Sodium: 50 mg
Total Carbohydrate: 6g
Sugars: 5g
Protein: 3g

The sweetener in this canned beverage is Sucralose - I'm assuming the sugars in this come from the milk products used. They use mostly reduced fat milk, but there is a bit of actual cream in this as well.

So - what do you think? I don't want to shoot myself in the foot, but I don't want to cut these completely out of my life unnecessarily either.

FYI, Starbucks announced that they are switching to 2% milk (from whole).

Interesting.
They could always make you a 2% one from mixing non fat and whole (however accurate that is!).

now if they would just start t make a truly sugarfree light frappucino and leave out the vanilla syrup in heir whipped cream, I'd be in heaven. Their light frappucino is loaded with sugar.......

I just had to say something from the point of view of a purist! It is almost summertime and that means Starbucks iced coffee, neat. No sugar and no sweetener.

On a warm day, pure enjoyment in a glass.

Iced decaf americano with SF Cinnamon Dolce! And I usually bring my own soy or goatmilk.

I find the SF Cinnamon Dolce hides the taste of the coffee for my liking, but I also think espresso roast beans make a great snack!

BTW, according to a program on the cable, National geographic channel I think, a shot of espresso has less caffeine than tall coffee! So my pre-exercise triple grande iced cafe americano is not so bad after all. (To me iced-coffee tastes better but iced cafe americano sits better during BodyCombat or BodyStep.)

Supposedly epresso drinks are easier on teh stomach, too. Has to do with how the high pressure gets the flavor out of the bean as opposed to the slow drip method. Has to do with acidity somehow.

If I drink drip coffee my stomach sometimes reacts.

Say, beans as a snack??? Thats an interesting idea... I know cho covered beans but was never sure if these are just the beans... how do you do it? Just eat the roasted bean?

Enjoying the company of fellow Starbuckies...

I just pop them in and chew, 2 or 3 make a snack. It is a developed taste. I learned from Starbucks store manager that the quality of a roast can be told by chewing a bean. I had been chewing a few before that were covered with dark chocolate, (pre-sbd), so the next step was no big deal. I have always liked strong bitter and/or sour over sweet and the sbd just enhanced that.
( I also have had a few phase 3 slip ups and had a heart healthful Guiness once in a while. http://www.uwhc.com/servlet/Satellite?c ... 0292714042 I just love the bitter taste!
 )
