Journey to my 20 year reunion....And BEYOND:)

Postby olocba » Mon May 07, 2007 7:36 pm

Hi. I am new here. I have struggled with my weight for the past six years. I quit smoking on New Year's day 2001 and have stuck with it:). I LOVE to eat my way through stress and had a very stressful year in 2006. My youngest child wasn't sleeping through the night for at least TEN months and I lost my older brother suddenly to an aneurism. It was a tough year. I was very sad and wasn't looking out for myself.

My twenty year reunion is fast approaching. Five years ago at my reunion I was smack dab in the middle of fertility treatments which made me very bloated and sad. This reunion I am a mother of two and I want to look GOOD! I won't be at my goal weight by August, but will be happily on my way to it!!!!

I started South Beach in the middle of April and have lost 13 pounds so far. I have been walking and running in addition to eating right and drinking a LOT of water. I am taking time for me and it feels great.

The week I started South Beach I also had a doctor's appointment where I learned that I was at risk for high blood pressure. My lower number was VERY HIGH (but hasn't been quite as high since...probably b/c I had to step on the scale at the doctor's office  !) I have given up salt and cut way back on my alcohol intake (I love wine :) ). Giving up salt has been hard, but gets MUCH easier each day that passes.

Anyways, just thought I'd introduce myself. I have to run to get on the treadmill:) Most days I walk outside with my kids, but the weather is dreary today.

Andrea

Hello! It looks as if you are doing great! I'm impressed with your workouts. How old are your children?

I am really starting to feel my energy come back....even dh has noticed. I am getting more done around the house and starting to feel cheerful. Part of it is the weight loss, part of it is I am coming out of my 2006 funk. What a tough year...

The scale was good this morning:)

Breakfast: brown rice burger and an egg

snacks throughout the day: cheese stick, grapes and peanuts

Lunch: southbeach tuna chopped salad (not the exact name)

Dinner: Balsamic chicken and broccoli and a few triscuits and swiss lorraine cheese:)

One coffee, one diet pop and LOADS of water :D

I also walked briskly for a half an hour last night.

The scale was my friend this morning. I am down 15.5 pounds:)

Andrea,
AWESOME!! You're doing great! Congrats on going down a pants size - that's always such a huge motivator for me! I appreciate all your encouragement - I'm down 5 lbs and thrilled with that at the moment! After my dd's huge IEP next week, I think I"ll be able to focus more. Love your journal :) !!

I changed my goal. Now I want to lose a total of 100 lbs. To have a good BMI and be within the range for a medium frame woman, I should be a lot smaller than I am right now.

Yesterday I ate:

Breakfast: Brown rice burger and eggbeaters

Lunch: Chopped salad with veggies and turkey

Dinner: Porkchop and broccoli and Cawliflower

Snacks: swiss lorraine and trisquits. Peanuts

Beverages: Coffee, 1 diet pop, a few glasses of Crystal Light and Lots of water!

I ran/walked four miles behind my double jogger pushing 60+ pounds.

I feel awesome. I think I had a few too many snacks yesterday so I am more focused today especially on snacks with veggies and maybe grapes:)

Yesterdays food and exercise...

Breakfast: Two pieces of canadian bacon and one egg with Coffee and low sodium V8 Juice

Lunch: Tossed salad with stir fried shrimp

Dinner: Pork loin seasoned with Mrs. Dash, mashed Yams (we made up a recipe and absolutely LOVED it). Accompanied by brocccoli and Cawliflower topped with lowfat cheese.

Snacks: Grapes, mozzarella stick and peanuts.

Walked/ran 4 miles with the kiddos in the stroller:) See photo below:

Walked at work during my hour break...just briskly for 20 minutes. After work (10:15pm) broke down and had a glass of wine with dh on the front porch. I wanted to relax with dh and wine before Mosquito season:) I wanted to wait a few more pounds...oops  At least I didn't eat after the glass of wine:) And I was down another pound this morning...down 17, 83 to go! Woo hoo!

Hello, fellow Class of '87er! :D Your journal title caught my eye, as I have my 20-year reunion in August as well. You seem very determined, and your picture is beautiful. You look happy and full of energy. And your kids are adorable! Keep up the great work!
