Hi. I am new here. I have struggled with my weight for the past six years. I quit smoking on New Year's day 2001 and have stuck with it:). I LOVE to eat my way through stress and had a very stressful year in 2006. My youngest child wasn't sleeping through the night for at least TEN months and I lost my older brother suddenly to an aneurism. It was a tough year. I was very sad and wasn't looking out for myself.
My twenty year reunion is fast approaching. Five years ago at my reunion I was smack dab in the middle of fertility treatments which made me very bloated and sad. This reunion I am a mother of two and I want to look GOOD! I won't be at my goal weight by August, but will be happily on my way to it!!!!
I started South Beach in the middle of April and have lost 13 pounds so far. I have been walking and running in addition to eating right and drinking a LOT of water. I am taking time for me and it feels great.
The week I started South Beach I also had a doctor's appointment where I learned that I was at risk for high blood pressure. My lower number was VERY HIGH (but hasn't been quite as high since...probably b/c I had to step on the scale at the doctor's office
!) I have given up salt and cut way back on my alcohol intake (I love wine
). Giving up salt has been hard, but gets MUCH easier each day that passes.
Anyways, just thought I'd introduce myself. I have to run to get on the treadmill:) Most days I walk outside with my kids, but the weather is dreary today.
