I've been reading, just lurking! Thanks for stopping in btw. I think I just need some time...
How do you get through your day w/o snacks? I'm just wondering cuz you haven't really posted any. I'm always hungry by snacktime. You amaze me! Your still doing great. Scales are crafted by the devil as a joke. We should all burn them and send 'em back where they came from. LOL

Thanks for speaking up, Miss Moonlight!

Snacks.....I love snacks and I really do try to get them in. Sometimes I just don't get the opportunity, however. Or I'm just not hungry.

Like today, I was swamped at work this morning and then went straight from work to the gym, and straight from the gym to the tire store. By the time I got to eating my lunch, it was nearly 3pm. That is NOT ideal! I was hung-GREE!

I've never been a big breakfast eater and since I try to get in lots of fiber for breakfast, I don't normally get hungry, so it's okay. I did get hungry today. I'm thinking that a banana in the morning doesn't work for me.

It's a little after 7pm and I just finished dinner. I did have the other 1/2 of my morning banana and some almond butter around 5:45 or so because I knew I'd be eating dinner late. Tonight I'll have some kind of yummy snack treat.

Basically I think I'm really lucky in that I'm not into sweets at all and now that I've been Beachy for several weeks, I've lost my desire for salty, cruncy, carby treats.

Thanks again for checkign in!

I wanted to make A-Rod's turkey burgers tonight but I am so freaking EXHAUSTED! I'm draggin' ass today and I have been all day. The weather must be changing (although it just seems to continue to suck, but I digress) because my knees hurt, my foot hurts, everything hurts today. I hate that.

I think it's EBT (early bed time) for all of us tonight.

DD needs to get off crutches and walk again. It's like having a 100lb. newborn around the house and it's wiping me OUT!

Dress shopping tomorrow. Not so excited about that, to be honest.

thanks love2paint

congratulations on your fantastic success so far.

hope your daughter gets off crutches soon for her (and for your sanity) two of my best friends were on them this summer and i found that hard enough so i can't imagin having to look after them at home and not just ferrying them around and walking slowly with them  really hope that darn tyre gets fixed

have FUN dress shopping tomorrow :D

Okay, the slammin' tired feeling that I had all day yesterday seems to have left the building and taken 3lbs with him! Good riddance!

I'm off today, so my plan is to hit the stores at 10am to look for a dress for those weddings coming up. I'm starting at Coldwater Creek, where I have a coupon for $25 off a $100 or more purchase. I found a few dresses online last night that I kind of like, and they're not all black and/or white, so that's good! I might even buy some shoes, DSW is right next door! I'm taking my "Clinton and Stacey" teachings with me, I just hope I don't end up looking like a bag lady in everything. In that case, I'll probably wear black and just buy some new shoes.

TKD at noon today. I'm looking forward to class because the ladies who normally live to make my life miserable are out of town for a few days. Maybe nobody else will show up and I'll get a private class. There's nothing better than that, especially since I adore my instructor and he's REALLY easy on the eyes too!

This afternoon I have a few work related things to do from home, and I'm planning on doing a little scrapbooking, making turkey stock, prepping dinner, and cleaning my bathroom (in that order of desirability!).

It's weird not having to schlep DD to her activities and sports. That's the ONLY good thing about her being injured. Tomorrow we go to the orthopaedic surgeon, so we're all hoping for a good report.

The weather is still too sucky to go rollerblading. Boo. I'm dying to get out there.

Hi Love!

I was thinking about getting into Kung Fu. I think it's a wonderful balance with yoga and that they are very similar. But the TIME...who has it for everything? May I ask a possibly silly question, what is the major difference between Kung Fu and TKD?

Kung Fu is a martial art that started in China. It's basically just a different take on several styles of Karate, which are Japanese in origin. Taekwondo is of Korean origin and we use fewer actual weapons and are more kick oriented than other more traditional Karate styles.

Judo has a lot of grappling involved (no thanks!) and Kenpo uses a lot of joint twisting/manipulation which gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about. Neither of these forms of martial arts appeal to me whatsoever.

In general, they're all basically the same and certainly have the same principles. The absolute most important thing is to find a class and instructor that is right for you, and find a school where you can't just "buy" your next belt. Believe it or not, there are school owners out there who will give you the next belt up without having to earn it the hard way if you're willing to shell out the cash. Obviously that's not really in the spirit of what it's supposed to be all about.

I absolutely LOVE it and wish I would have started years ago.

I am taking Kempo Jujutsu at an academy near me. We do learn a lot of joint locks and such, but also kicks and punches, throws, etc. It's very balanced. Our academy also teaches Tae Kwon Do. My sensei often has the TKD students come to a Jujutsu class occasionally just to get the experience of other styles. But we are also an academy that you don't just buy your belt at. You still pay to test of course, but you can't until you're ready, and you certainly won't rank up if you're not.

Belated congrats on your black belt! That's a lot of hard work and training! I'm still a white belt; we just started at the beginning of the year. I have many years ahead of me yet, but I enjoy it quite a bit.

Take care L2P4Y.

Kenpo uses a lot of joint twisting/manipulation...

 i started in kenpo years ago, but stopped when the instructor started to pick me out as better than my mom or my sister. i didn't want the "special" treatment :?

i didn't realize it ended up with joint twisting stuffs!

Love all the martial artists here ~ wahoo! LM, I think it's great that you're taking your classes! keep me posted on how it's going!

As for Kenpo, don't hold me to anything! My husband studied it several years ago and they did a lot of joint things. Everybody's classes are different, for sure!

Wildflight, I'm sorry that he singled you out as being better. It's such an individual thing, yet some people really can get caught up in the competition. I'm sure not that way, but I've recently lost one of my dearest friends over it. It's been both heartbreaking and awkward for me.

Wildflight, I'm sorry that happened as well. I am not one of those "naturals", so every movement I make right now takes a lot of thought. Whereas, my DH and BIL both pick it up like it's nothing. I do get a bit jealous, but I'm doing this for me and not anyone else. So, really, it's no big thing. Maybe one day you could go back...? It's a great thing to be able to defend yourself, esp. nowadays. I'm glad that I have the opportunity to go. I've wanted to for a long time, but wasn't able to until now. It's wonderful.

L2P, of course I'll keep you posted. Right now, I'm still learning the basics. Just basic kicks, punches, falls, using body mass, and a couple forms. Do you learn kata/forms in TKD? I've done the Chun-jin and am learning Tiger and Crane.

Do we have a martial arts thread in the exercise forum? I've never really looked... maybe we could start one.

lm, i've thought of going back to kenpo or another martial art, because i really did enjoy it. it was the sort of thing, though, where i wasn't doing it for me. my mom had started and i decided to go along after a while, and i did pick it up more quickly than they did, and i didn't think it was fair to my mom that she felt left behind because of the way the instructor acted.

if i did go back, it would be more for the fitness and discipline aspects. my little one started karate recently, and i couldn't be more proud of him and what he is learning. he's nuts about it :D

barb, i get sad when people let competition get the best of a relationship. i'm sorry about your friend.

Yeah, me too. She was my very BEST friend. After treating me really badly for a year, I finally confronted her and she told me flat out that because I was better at taekwondo than she is, it caused her too much stress and that she no longer wanted me as a part of her life. At first it was really hard to take, but after looking back more objectively about how badly she had been treating me (and how I made excuses for her bad behavior), I just finally realized that somebody who would dump her best friend over a freakin' sport isn't really worth it in the first place. It still hurts, though. And I refuse to quit just because she's doing everything she can to ge me to do so.
