No one answered the soy and flaxseed question, so I will. The first ingredient is corn, so they are limited. However, they are delicious and flaxseed has many health benefits!

A SHORT HISTORY - AND FUTURE - OF TRADER JOE'S
Trader Joe's actually began in 1958 as a chain of convenience stores called "Pronto Markets” in the Los Angeles area. In 1967, the founder, Joe Coulombe, the original Trader Joe, wanted to expand the stores' offerings and enhance their image. He doubled the floor space and offered hard-to-find, boutique domestic and imported wines and gourmet food items at outstanding prices. He decked out the stores with cedar plank walls and nautical décor and garbed the Captain (the store manager), the First Mate (the assistant manager) and the Crew Members in colorful Hawaiian shirts. "Trader Joe's" was born.

I know this thread was started a long time ago, but its SUCH an awesome store. I am so lucky to have a TJ's not 5 minutes from my house!(NE PHILLY BURBS) I just went yesterday. Ditto on the narrow aisles though!

I love TJ's but we do not have one near me the closest one is 85 mile, so my parents are going to be in that town just for the day and I am using them a an excuse and going to meet them for lunch and will go to TJ's then. We bought our car in this town, and we get a free oil change there so I go every 5 thousand miles and hit TJ's then. We are suppose to get one here in town with in the next 2 years, I hope sooner!!!!!
I am going to copy down some of the lists and use them in my shopping list.
The one thing that I always always buy is a lf smoked goda cheese, it is the best!!! The only thing is that you can not freeze it, when you take it out, it just seems to crumble and the taste and texture is different.

I love TJs and am lucky to have moved to a place where I can get to one in 15 minutes. I usually buy their whole wheat pasta, brown rice, avocados, TJs brand unsweetened soy milk, and just love their frozen section for veggies and fish and blueberries. I also really like their turkey cutlets - cut really thin so they cook up really quick, and I coat them with ground almond meal that I buy there also. When I'm feeling really decadent, I enjoy their cashew macadamia butter. :) I can't walk in there without spending at least $100!

Also, I've found that with TJ's, their stock varies in different states - so sometimes you'll hear that someone gets a particular item, but they don't sell it in your area. Used to confuse me when I heard people say (on another message board) to buy a certain item, but TJs doesn't carry it near me.

They really do have great prices. I'll go in buy several things that could really add up, and it ends up being under $15.

I LOVE Trader Joe's. Just made a simple vinegrette with their grape seed oil and white balsamic vinegar and a little dijon mustard. Delicious, very light.
Their frozen fish is good, too.
Of course, the frozen desserts are fabulous, too, but we don't go there anymore. :(

Jasmine rice is actually too high GI to be a good choice, even when brown. We should generally eat the long grain rices.

We went there Thursday for the first time and had a full cart. I am addicted. The closest one is about an hour away near Cleveland. If you go to their site they have a location request under the contact us link. If enough people request on in the area I am sure eventually you may get one. DH and I are going to request one in our area once a week until they "cave" lol.
One is never fully dressed without a smile! :)

I spent an hour in Trader Joe's first thing Sunday morning when the aisles were empty so I could read labels at my leisure. Any other time I go the store is PACKED!!

Here is a partial list of what I got:

Fage greek yogurt - love love LOVE this stuff!!!
organic dark chocolate - phase two is right around the corner!
several low fat cheeses
string cheese
edamame (the dried kind to snack on)
Punjab sauce
Madras curry sauce
tofu
fresh salsa (in the dairy case)
fresh gazpacho (in the dairy case)

Question about the simmer sauces - it looks like one of the ingredients is sugar. At least it's not corn syrup, but is this okay on SBD?

Suggestion about Stevia: it's flavor depends on what you mix it with. I added it to Fage yogurt along with some vanilla and have a great vanilla yogurt treat. You could also add a little cocoa powder and have a nice chocolate treat.
