hey p,

Wanted to pop in see how things were going. Are you ready for tomorrow? I am for the most part. Can't wait to see if this really helps with losing. Can't imagine it wouldn't. I am painting my kids bathroom today. Taking a break right now DH is doing some. Hope your Sunday is going well. Today is an off exercise day for me so at least I don't have to worry about that. I took my measurements this morning, even after losing 15 pounds, its still depressing. But what are you going to do except LOSE! :D Hope all is well.

I'll consider yesterday my last hurrah before the Extreme Challenge begins tomorrow! Even still, it wasn't a great day it certainly wasn't the worst. Maybe I really am learning some moderation? Or maybe I'm just deluding myself, I guess only time will tell. :? That's why I'm thankful to have the challenge to keep my accountable for the next 6 weeks. :)

I'm pretty preoccupied with school right now, so at least I'll have the challenge to remind me to take care of myself, first and foremost!

In the next few weeks I have to do the following:

Finish the required reading for all of my various academic obligations
Grade two sets of papers
Apply for a research grant
Submit a performance review for publication
Turn in a paper
Prep for and present a paper at a conference
Prep materials for a class that I'm teaching next quarter

All due by 3/22. Yikes :!:  :!:

As a result, my journal may be brief, but it will still get done.

B: Cheesy Fritatta, Coffee w/ ff 1/2 & 1/2
S:
L: Chicken salad on 1 slice of whole wheat bread topped with avocado
S: Frozen Cheesecake bites
D: Turkey sausage sauteed with onion and cabbage; butternut squash soup.
S: fudgsicle & lite cool whip

Calories so far: 1395
Water: 92 oz

Hey, Teammate!

Thank for your message... It really made me feel better. In answer to your question, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. In order for me to transfer within Hilton, I have to be in my position for a year. I am going to try and stick it out, but if it gets any worse, I'm going to move home in September.

In happier news, TOMORROW IS THE START OF THE CHALLENGE! I am super excited about that! :D

Queen- :) And at least you have some options, yes? At the very best, the move will turn out to be the greatest thing you ever did. At the least, you got a really awesome experience life experience in another city.

I’m so tired and hungry today? Are they related, I wonder? Or is the hungry related to having grains for breakfast? Or to the strength training that I did today, which I haven’t done in months and months??

Otherwise, I feel really excellent about getting in two exercise sessions today and because I’ve had all of my water before 9pm. Woohoo!!

P, I take it like a shot :)

I buy those little 6 oz cans, and I was on the phone with my mother the first day I was having it. I was gagging, and it took me forever to get it down. My mother said to me, "Oh, come on! If you can do Jager Bombs, you can drink your V-8!"

Thanks, Mom! So now I empty it into a larger glass, and I down it like a shot every morning with my vitamins.

Today was a fabulous day!!!! :)
I was asleep by 10pm last night—I can’t remember last time I went to bed that early. I so needed it!
I didn’t have to go in to school today so I alternated reading and grading papers with cooking. I made a new (for me) asparagus salad, gazpacho, apricot-soy glazed salmon, sausage and egg squares, and mock cinnamon bread/coffee cake. :)

I forgot how much I love gazpacho. I suppose asking Queen about V8 just jogged the right part of my brain and I thought it would be a great way to use up the cans that have just been sitting around because I didn’t want to ingest all of that sodium. It also occurred to me that gazpacho would be a great place to use the low-sodium V8 because I could add salt to taste…I’ll get some this weekend and see how it tastes.

I was supposed to go with my DH our waltz class but he’s swamped with work. I was disappointed, but I still got my cardio session in: I took Oatmeal on a long walk. :)

Oh, and tomorrow will be my four week anniversary of posting to this journal. In that entire time, I haven’t been controlled by or given in to any cravings for pizza, cookies or burgers and fries, etc... It’s been unbelievably helpful to know that there are people checking in on my journal that I don’t want to explain a binge to. Thank you to all! I still have a lot of work to do, but this is a huge step for me.

B: Multigrain hot cereal, 1/2 c. berry medley from TJ’s, Splenda

L: Ground turkey sloppy joe on ww English muffin; faux-tato salad
S: Cheese stick, 2T tomato basil hummus

S: mock cinnamon bread/coffee cake

92 oz water

Calorie intake: 1377

Oh, and Queen, your Mom is too much! I don't even think mine would know what a Jager Bomb is!! ;)

I have a long day ahead of me today, so I'll pre-post my menu and update it tonight if necessary. This will also help me stay on track because I have to go to a faculty reception thing where they always have food. If I've already journalled for the day then it will be easier to say no.

B: Sausage & Egg Squares*, Mock Cinnamon bread/coffee cake w/a smidgen of sf choc syrup, coffee & 2.25T ff 1/2 and 1/2
S: gazpacho
L: Salad (lettuce, kidney beans, salmon, 2T lite blue cheese dressing)
S: granny smith apple rings; wedge of LC cheese
D: Thai chicken for the crockpot; 1/4c. brown rice; Asparagus, Feta & Bean salad
S: sf pudding

36-ish minutes of walking
90-ish oz of water

Calorie intake: 1409
Calories burnt: 125
Total: 1284

*Mine are actually round b/c I made them in a mini-bundt pan; all of my regular bakeware is otherwise occupied. They actually looked really cute when I took them out. ;)

Oh, P, I love your comments. I love to hear that I inspire you because that inspires me to keep inspiring you! And it's just a big ol' circle of inspiration! (okay, that was kind of gross, but you get my point! :))

Good job with your strength training! My body is on strike, too!

hey p,

45 minutes, huh? WOW! Right now I am aiming for 20 minutes. Thinking about it is making me sweat. I am not much of a runner right now more of a moderate jogger. Endurance now speed later. Anyway you look like you are doing really well. Awesome job. Keep up the good work. :D :D

Well, Amity, you've definitely motivated me to start jogging again. I have to start from scratch, but that's okay because I know I can do it. I'll do the Couch to 5K because I'm sure the lesser amount of time running will be much better for my knees. I found the program I followed in fall 2005, here it is if anyone's interested:
http://www.sportmedbc.com/Content/InTra ... kIntro.asp

I hadn't looked at it in a long time so I was shocked to see how long each session was. No wonder I ended up quitting. I'm psyched to try again and maybe catch up to you eventually, Amity! Oh, also, I'm super super slow. I ran a 5K (I only walked for 3 minutes of it!) and you should understand that I use the word "ran" very very loosely. I was the last runner to complete the race, though not the last person to cross the finish line. Maybe one day I'll post the pix. :)

Anyway, so I set a date--put it into my calendar and everything: Sunday, March 18th! This is still somewhat tentative because it's the last week of the quarter and I may be swamped, but I actually think it's going to be easier than this week and next, so we'll see. At the worst, I'll start the following week.

Oops. Didn't mean to write this much.

I stuck pretty close to my plan to day, but here's the final result:

B: Sausage & Egg Squares*, Mock Cinnamon bread/coffee cake w/a smidgen of sf choc syrup, coffee & 2.25T ff 1/2 and 1/2
S: gazpacho
L: Salad (lettuce, kidney beans, salmon, 2T lite blue cheese dressing)
S: granny smith apple rings; wedge of LC cheese
D: Thai chicken for the crockpot; 1/4c. brown rice; Asparagus, Feta & Bean salad
S: fudgsicle; sm. piece of lemon ginger bean cake w/ smidge of cream cheese frosting

32 minutes of walking
23 minutes abs/arms toning video
100 oz of water

Calorie intake: 1488
Calories burnt: 249
Total: 1239
:)

Alright p I don't even want to hear about the weather out there. I can't believe I inspired you. Thats awesome. You know back when I was at a healthy weight I wasn't even much of a runner but when I did run I always thought it was so exhilarating. It always felt good. I love the way you test yourself every day.

I looked at that workout schedule you had the link for and that is a lot. Kudos to you for doing 45 minutes and running 10k.

I saw your recipes and I definitely am going to try some. They looked good.

Hope day 4 is going well. Almost one week over! :D

Also one more thing everytime I read your journal its also an inspiration. I admire the way you are able to fit this challenge in to such a busy schedule. You are doing a great job! :D
