Just curious what everyone is doing. If you've tried different approaches, did one work better for you than the other?

Kristine,
I like this poll. I think it will help a lot of new people since so many feel they have to follow the recipes in the book. Though I have tried a couple of them I voted "food list" as it's my main way. However, I make enjoyable meals from these foods...I don't just graze on them. I want to eat like this always and grazing is what made me fat to begin with.

I think the recipes are too complicated -- at least for now. The problem I've always had with dieting was that I never knew what to eat. The lists are great because I can shop accordingly. I only use the recipes once in a while if I need an idea as to how to make something taste good. Or once, when my DH was making pizza for the family, I tried the recipe for crustless pizza but didn't think it worked out well at all. I like it better when people come on the message board and say "try mixing this with this..." word of mouth is best.
Good poll.

Since I started this diet (15 weeks ago) I've made only 3 things from the book so I voted food list. Now, if there was a "Food List and This Website" option, that would have been my choice!

Restarted 3/14/11 directly into Phase 2.

I read a transcript of an interview with Dr. A (maybe from the Frontline PBS piece?) and he observed that those who tended to take the lists and adapt them to their own recipes and way of eating tended to see better results and stick to the program longer. I'm not sure what that says about his recipes, but I found it an interesting comment. If I can put words in his mouth, I think that was really his intention all along, but he knew that he would have to provide some starter recipes and menu plans to make it a valid "diet book". So maybe those were more at the behest of the publishing company to make it more marketable? Otherwise it would have just looked like some doctor's theories more suitable for a medical journal than for appeal to the masses.
