Hee hee ... I would think a wedding dress fitting would get me to run a 10k!

Can you use a small snack to refuel when you're on your long runs? Like pieces of banana? I know the marathoners do it ... and that's longer than 4.8 miles ... but if you're famished, maybe it would be worth it?

Hey Shan, thanks for the suggestion- it's not during the run that I'm famished but after.... I'm mostly worried about upsetting that delicate balance between calories in and calories out. y'know?

I know ... I feel the same way sometimes. I notice that it's the worst when I do my endurance tests on the treadmill. (A flat and flat-out run to gauge my progress towards a comfortable 10-min mile.)

An apple with peanut butter usually does the trick for me, since it takes a long time to cut up and eat. I also try to drink an extra 20 oz of water after my workout to give my stomach something to work on while I drive home.

Woo hoo!! 2 pounds.
Yesterday I decided I would not have grains with dinner, since I think my portions were creeping up, causing a stall. Well, this morning I was down 2 lbs. Of course I want to wait and see if it stays down or jumps back up. Not sure if it was that or the exercise I've been doing, but I will definitely be rethinking my dinner menu!!!

In other news, I got laid off from work. It's not the biggest tragedy, since I was definitely not happy, but it is pretty scary. I want to do something different. I really don't like project management. Too much drama!

So to celebrate my new status of having been canned, I spent loads of time at the gym today. 30 min of weight training and 40 of running.

Aww. sweetie, I'm sorry you lost your job -- I know it's stressful to "shop around" and find a new one. But you'll find something even better. I have total confidence in that.

And in the meantime, you'll hit the gym like there's no tomorrow. So you'll be gainfully employed AND svelte. :D

Turkey day went well. At well, with just a couple of indulgences. We went to visit the inlaws in NY so there were a lot of restaurants. I ate a lot, but nothing I feel too bad about.
Today I got to the hotel, (2 week business trip) checked in and went straight to the gym. HA they must have thought i was weird. I only did 3mi (heee! only! :) ) but i needed to get things started. Now food then sleeep. It's been a long few days.
The gym is not great but has a treadmill and some weights which is really all i need.

This morning i got up at 6:30 and went to the gym before work. Only got in 2 miles. Not breaking any distance records cause of lack of time, but at least I'm making the effort, right? I think that's pretty huge for me at least. Never thought I'd be getting up at 6:30 voluntarily to run of all things. The meetings are 8-5 and then they have all sorts of things planned for us so it's really the only time I have. I did ditch them last night and went to the gym for a bit and then just got a light dinner at Panera. Tonight i think they are planning Mexican :? Fajitas should do nicely.

Hi SP. I have been MIA for a long time but now that I am back to a (somewhat)normal life I figured I'd drop by and say hello. I am so impressed with your running workouts-big sigh-I think I will call you my hero. Now if only I can gain a little motivation. And btw-nothing feels better than knowing you look gorgeous in your wedding dress.

Hello RG! welcome back. I have been somewhat MIA myself from the boards. Being good though, just not much time to post.
