I had a really good day today!! My foot felt better today. got some things done that were on my 'to do 'list. gave out some of the halloween candy pouches i had made up. WE went and found the house of one of our friends who is new in our church (DH knew them before they moved into our meighborhood.) They live in a brand new subdivision, so of course their street isn't on any map yet. I just went to the area where i thought the street was, then just drove around until i happened to find it. We had a nice visit. The visit to the Dr today went well, and she did sign a note saing that i can't work full time because i i need to be able to help tygh, so now that i have that, i can turn in our application for food stamps. The perliminary interview/ visit from Habitat for Humanity seemed to go well too. They were very compliamentary of how well we have used the space that we have (about 900 sq. ft.).
B: apple w/ cottage cheese, water
S: 1 sugar cookie
L: 1 egg roll, water
S: celery with pb., water
D: Hamburger from A&W (I took the bun off and used lettuce- fed the bun to the birds),water.
Don't know about dessert yet
went for 30 min. walk. started delivering Halloween candy treats to neighbors.

I also started giving away all the candy I got at the office today, they had this trick or treat for 1 hour in the office and I literally ended with a bowl of candy in my office without me asking for them :? , so I packed it in individual bags and gave them away.

Good job to you....You are doing great

Hey girl! How goes the challenge? I'm doing okay, now that I'm not sick as a dog! haha. I think the rest of the week should go pretty much to schedule.

Just a question, I've noticed that you are eating things like sugar cookies and chocolate muffins, are those SB recipes or just regular ones? If they are SB definitely give me recipes! haha.

Well, hope you're doing well, good luck!

S:celery and pb, milk.

Today was my first non- beachy day, and i'm feeling it- i have a nice tummy ache. Turned in FS app today, took candy to friends, DH dreseed up as Obi-Won-Kenobi and I as a female Jedi and went to our church's trunk or treat. After, i still had candy left, and it looked sooo good, so i ate some. I hadn't pigged out like this in two weeks. I felt i deserved to give myself a bit of a break. And now, i've got a tummy ache!!

Hey girl, hope your stomach ache goes away! Tonight trick or treating was fun, but no candy for me. I really haven't wanted any. I guess I just don't have the cravings anymore.

I posted a PB cookie recipe in the Halloween Hotties thread, they were pretty good. A little too rich for me though, even though I love peanut butter!

How are you doing with the added grains/fruit a day? Do you feel it brings on more cravings? I usually just have 1 fruit or 1 grain a day, sometimes one of each, and I make sure I choose the ones with the lowest GI. So far, I haven't noticed any cravings.

If you crave something sweet, have an apple dipped in 2 tbsp. cream cheese, 2 splenda packets, some vanilla and cinnamon. It makes a killer fruit dip!

Don't think I'm preaching, I just want to see you be successful. Please feel free to critique me any way you'd like as well! That's what we're here for! :-)

My diet for the day:

breakfast
1/2 cup steel cut oats with chopped pecans, SF maple and splenda

no snack (not hungry)

lunch
grilled shrimp skewers with red onion and zucchini, side of broccoli

no snack (not hungry)

dinner
steak with onions, peppers and cheese, side of broccoli

This isn't a typical day, but I'm still getting over being sick, so I didn't want to over do it. :-)

Hope you're doing great, and just let me know if you've completed your workouts. Thanks!

Did my walk this morning. Went to 'work' for two hours. Went and rented Mission Impossible 3 and Save the Last Dance 2. WE went and rented the movies because DH was getting stir crazy in the house so i had to figure out some way to get him out of the house and out of the frame of mind he was in (he was frustrated/ upset about his cough making him not able to work). On the way home we stopped @ Jack in the Box and got sandwiches. When we got home, I saw a bunch of ducks (i couldn't really count them because they kept moving, but there had to have been about 40), in/ by the pool, (The water in the ditch nearby is frozen) so i went and took a few pictures. While doing that, i saw one of my neighbors' dogs's escape, so i helped catch him. He's one of those crazy little dogs that will let you get close and then when you think you can grab him, he'll take off! This neighbor is one who (until recently) when i would see her, would hardly say a word, and i think she's visually impaired (I think i've seen her using a white cane, she seems kind of reclusive, and I've wanted to get to know her a liitlle better, so helping her w/ the dog was a good opportunity, and we had a nice visit for a bit. She was very appreciative of my help! After i ate dinner, i went shopping. I was surprised to find out that Winco has beans, flax seed, and steel cut oats in their bulk section, and they're not too expensive!! I spent just over 70$ all together, but i think a lot of it will last a few weeks. Will do produce shopping tomorrow.
B:2 eggs, 1 C. V8
Was working, so no snack
L: Salad w/ french dressing
S: 1 pumpkin bar, glass milk, little bit of lite strawberry yogurt, i don't remember what else (but it was SB friendly).
D: Steak and cheese ciabatta sandwich from Jack in the Box, glass of water. I wasn't going to eat the bun, but changed my mind b/c i wanted to see what the ciabatta bread tasted like. wEll, i didn't like it too much.
Dessert: 1 C regular eggnog. I have GOT to make the SB eggnog, so I won't drink the regular stuff!

I think i need a kick in the pants after all the candy yesterday, pumpkin bars, and eggnog!

MY PLAN TOMORROW IS TO ONLY HAVE ONE PUMPKIN BAR, TO MAKE THE SB EGGNOG IF I WANT SOME, AND TO NOT HAVE ANY CANDY!!

My foot started hurting again last night while i was shopping, and still hurt this morning, so I took an extra strength Tylenol, so I hope it makes it so i can at least do my walk. I am scared and frustrated about my foot because I can't afford to go to the dr. right now - I still owe them 175$ from may when i went in because of dizzy spells- And i think for my foot, they'd have to do an x-ray (Which ain't cheap), but i'm also afraid of my foot getting worse if i don't have it looked at. Maybe i can hang on until i get accepted at the low income clinic.
Well, the painkiller kicked in enough that i could go for my walk. I found 5 pennies. I also found 5 yesterday, and four last week. I also filled a grocery bag with recyclable that i found on my walk today.

B: 2 eggs w/ pepper, 1 c V8

oh yes, i did my measurements monday, so here goes:
upper right arm: 18" below elbow: 13" wrist:8" chest:40" bust:49" hips:54" waist:45.5" Thigh:31"

Hey! Things going okay? How's the foot? You're a real trooper to keep doing your walks, but don't over do it and really injure yourself.
Today was good, I had a nice lunch and dinner, and walked even though it was freezing out. :-)
I hope to lose another pound this week, I feel like I've been stuck at 3 # lost forever, but I have to remember that I've only been doing SB since Oct. 9th. haha. That's about a pound a week, so that's actually pretty good. At least I know that it is fat loss and not water. :-)
I like your "mini goals" of not eating pumpkin bars and drinking eggnog. haha. Good for you! :-)
Hmm...if we could invent SB eggnog, we'd be rich and famous! Muahaha!
I'm not a huge fan of it myself. :-) I'm not even sure how it's made!
Well, good luck, week 1 of the CHALLENGE is almost over. Woo hoo! 4 more to go!
So, I updated our exercise, but I need to know if you consider your days this week 95% "beachy days". I need to add those too so we'll get our points. Talk with you again soon!

Lookie what I just found...

Posted: Mon Oct 17, 2005 4:46 pm Post subject: Egg nog question

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok so i found this recipe in the boards:
Egg Nog
Phase: I and II

1/4 Cup Egg White Substitutes or Pasteurized Egg Whites like Egg Beaters*
1 Cup Skim or 1% Milk.**
1-2 Packets of Splenda or preferred sweetner.
5-7 drops of Vanilla essence.
A pinch of cinnamon.
A dash of nutmeg.

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until frothy. Makes 1 serving.

*Better to use egg white substitutes or pasteurized ones as egg whites separated from raw eggs may contain salmonella bacteria.
** Recommended South Beach vanilla soymilk can be used instead of milk. Enjoy!

I don't remember what the rest of my menu was yesterday, but I remember that it was beachy!!
Hey girl! I just wanted to stop by and say hello!!
I have had 4 beachy days this week- tuesday was the only day i went off- beach.
I didn't exercise today because my foot hurt pretty bad- even after i took an extra strength Tylenol. It's been hurting off and on for the last 8 months at least, but it always goes away usually the next day. This is the longest its' hurt. I'm going to call my dr. tomorrow or mon. and get an appointment to have it looked at. I'm hoping it feels better tomorrow so i can do some exercise. I won't do my lunges until then- if i do them. I will do the crunches and arm weights tonight, though.
I did take noel and shelly shopping, which means that we spent 2 hours wandering around the store trying to find everything. They had a cart full by the end of it (if i could ever afford to fill my cart that full all at once, i'd be happy!). I wonder if spending two hours wandering around a grocery store then loading and unloading a carts' worth (including 3 ten lb bags of flour and 1 ten lb bag of sugar and 6 cases of pepsi, among other things) groceries counts as exercise??!?! I also walked over to the bank, then later to stinker.
My menu today was:
B: 2 eggs w/ cheese on w toast; w toast w/ butter; V8
was busy from 9:30- 2:30, so no lunch.
s: peanuts (i don't know how many, but not a whole ton), 1 pumpkin bar
D: Chicken Bacon & swiss sand. from arby's (i took off the bun and used lettuce instead), and the *^% small fries that went with the 'deal', diet sprite.
I will probably have a glass of milk and/ or water before i go to bed.
d: will probably be 1/4C ricotta cheese mixed w/ 1 splenda packet and 1 TBSP bakers' cocoa.
* I hope you all realize that this is not a typical menu for me, and i will make sure to get more veggies tomorrow)

hey there! i have been out of the loop most of the week.

how long has your foot been bothering you? both my DH an dI have foot problems.
what part hurts? is it constant or just when pressure is applied?

both of us have had orthotics made, but find that soft sole (academy sports) inserts help us the most.

also, i have falling arches and pain in my achilles tendin (lord, how do you spell that?!) I had to wear shoes with a heel just getting out of bed as soon as I hit the floor. Dr wanted me to even wear them in the shower for awhile.

This might have nothing to do with your foot, but wanted to help if I could and maybe save you the $$$$ of a dr visit.

Take care!

It's the 'outside'(right side) of my right foot, right in front of the ankle, if that makes any sense. It's been off and on about 8 months. It hurts pretty much all the time right now, but worse when i put pressure on it.
I also feel like I don't get as good of range of motion in my right ankle as my left. Also, my right ankle pops a lot, especailly first thing when i get up in the morning. I don't know if any of this is related or anything. I'm just noting what all the things are that have gone on with this foot.
I know my dad has had to get orthotics, and my brother has also had foot problems. Maybe i'll have to ask them what kind of problems they had.

Sat, nov 4- My foot still hurt pretty bad this morning, so i went in to the immediate care. The Dr. says i have tendonitis, and i need to take lots of ibuprofen (up to 800mg) 3X/ day and ice my foot 3x a day. Hope fully that helps, because i want to get beck to exercising soon!!
Oh yeah, they weighed me at the dr's, and the scale said 294. how embarrasing to weigh that much and have someone else have to see it and write it down. More motivation for me to loose this weight!!

Hey girl!

I had a feeling you had tendonitis. I had that in my ankle once..it is quite painful! The ibuprofen should help, that's what they prescribed to me too.

How are things going on The Beach? Things are great here, just chugging along. :-)

I really wanted to take a walk today, but I fell asleep with my son, and didn't wake up till after dark, so I just did my favorite aerobic DVD instead. I love Kathy Smith. She is one of the only ones I don't find completely obnoxious. haha. I did my crunches too, even though I'm still really sore from doing them the other day! haha.

Be sure to check out the points only thread in the Exercise forum to make sure that I have gotten all our info correct for the week. I want to make sure that you get all the points you are entitled to. I think I have most everything, but check your workouts and beachy days and see if I need to add more. Tomorrow ends week 1! :-) Hope you're doing great!
