Boboli's 100% Stone ground wheat pizza crust is very good. I've used it a couple times, topped with Hormel Turkey Pepperoni and low fat cheese, tons of veggies and a NSA tomato sauce. Not sure what the serving is...but it will say on the packaging.

I havn't tried them, but Kraft has a line of South Beach Diet pizzas. I've also heard good things about a meat crust pizza recipe in this forum. Personally, I just make mini pizzas with portobello mushroom caps.

Me TOO!!! I, personally, give myself 1 blow it meal/week. However, I was not into losing weight so much as getting my meal plans back on track after my hubby passed away.

Some time ago I posted another option for preparing pizzia w/o a bready/white flour crust. Season 3/4 - 1 lb of hamburger and spread over an 8-9 inch pie plate. Broil a bit til meat is cooked. Drain ALL the fat. Cover with seasonings to taste, SBD acceptable tomatoe/spegehetti sauce, pre-cooked veggies, LF motzarella and some parmesian cheese. Bake at 350ish about 15 min. Serve with a salad and you are good to go This is 4 average servings. Personally, I am a VERY hearty eater and it is only 3 for me.

My wife eats these sometimes when she has a craving and we don't have time to make the good stuff.. I find them way too bland for my tastes, so I start layering on garlic and tomatos and more cheese, etc. to make them edible..

other than the 1hr40min wait in the breadmaker for the dough to get finished (sometimes I cut this off a little early depending on how the rise looks), I find that making pizza is super easy and doesn't make much of a mess, so if don't mind making them at all if we have the time..

The meatsa pizza recipie that was posted again here is EXCELLANT...I've made it quite a few times since beaching...yummy, yummy...and I add tons of zuke, summer squash, fresh tomatoes, peppers, shrooms...ah heck, any veggie I can get my hands on, plus low fat ham. TDF good!

I also tried the WW boboli just yesterday for dinner. I LOVED it...again, put on a TON of fresh veggies and shaved ham, just delish! (I dare say I like the meatsa pizza and the WW boboli crust better than my old fav regular home made pizzas pre SB!)

Yummy Pizza

Postby MontanaGal » Fri Aug 26, 2005 10:24 pm

Say, I was intrigued by this thread because I dig pizza and thought I would pitch in my recipe for a South Beachy version. I use home made whole wheat pizza crust but "doctor" it up with lots of fresh pressed garlic and dried italian herbs. I sometimes toss in a 1/4 cup or so of grated parmesan for flavor. I skip the red sauce and spread dried or fresh herbs (basil, parsley, oregano), a bit parmesan and a handful or so of part skim mozzarella. Then, I saute spicy italian turkey sausage (casing removed), add sliced zucchini, mushrooms, onions, garlic, fresh herbs. Spread on the pizza crust with chopped sundried tomatoes and more mozzarella. Bake at about 400 until crust is crispy. I roll my dough super thin because then I can eat a couple of slices without getting bogged down by too much "bread." Below is the actual recipe (SUPER easy) for the pizza crust from the South Beach website.

Whole Wheat Pizza Dough - South Beach Diet Recipe (Phase 2)
WHOLE WHEAT PIZZA DOUGH
Prep time: 5 minutes
Start to finish: 15 minutes
To make ahead: The dough will keep, in a plastic bag coated with cooking spray, in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Degree of difficulty: moderate

Ingredients
1 3/4 cup whole-wheat flour
1 package quick-rising yeast, such as Fleischmann's RapidRise
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/2-2/3 cup hot water (120-130°F)
2 teaspoons olive oil To make:
1. Combine whole-wheat flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a food processor; pulse to mix. Combine hot water and oil in a measuring cup. With the motor running, gradually pour in enough of the hot liquid until the mixture forms a sticky ball. The dough should be quite soft. If it seems dry, add 1 to 2 tablespoons warm water; if too sticky, add 1 to 2 tablespoons flour. Process until the dough forms a ball, then process for 1 minute to knead.
2. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Spray a sheet of plastic wrap with cooking spray and place it, sprayed-side down, over the dough. Let the dough rest for 10 to 20 minutes before rolling.

My dh and i love the boboli whole wheat crust and the only flour is 100% whole wheat flour! We cut it in half, freeze one half and share the other half. I top it with homemade SBD tomato sauce, turkey pepperoni, onions, peppers, mushrooms and low fat mozzarella cheese . We have it every other week or so with a salad. I am a diabetic and have been eating it in moderation since it came out.

Meatless Pizza. . .

Postby aabramajtys » Thu Nov 02, 2006 3:20 am

Thanks for the Meatcrust pizza recipe, sounds great!!

Ooo, yes, Portabella. like it. You'd almost want to bake it alone for a bit to dry it out I'll bet.

What about slicing an eggplant the long way and making long, oblong mini pizzas?? Just a thought, for Phase 1. I plan on doing an eggplant lasagna with ricotta and a SB sauce and lowfat meat. Sounds great to me!

Trader Joe's also offers a pre-made WW pizza crust dough (in a baggie near the cheeses and prepared foods) and a pre-baked WW and multi-grain pizza crust called Tabula Rasa (in the bread section). Both of these also come in non-WW versions, so be careful!

I eat these CONSTANTLY when I don't have time to make my own WW pizza dough. The dough can be rolled out very flat. The pre-made crust is kind of thick, so you can probably only have one piece. However, it is very, very tasty and filling.

I make the zucchini crust pizza about once a week and it's much better than regular pizza. My 8 year old never even considers ordering pizza anymore. My entire family loves it!!

Zucchini Pizza Crust
4 cups shredded zucchini (squeeze out excess water)
1 cup reduced fat cheddar (shredded)
1 cup part skim shredded mozzarella
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2-1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 -1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp salt

Squeeze the water out of the zucchini after you shred and measure it. I used paper towel to make sure it was quite dry. Mix above together, and put in 15X13 jelly roll pan sprayed with Pam. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until browns. Take out and add sugar free pizza sauce, and toppings of your choice. I used grilled chicken breast pieces, spinach, feta cheese, mushrooms, onions, red, yellow, and orange peppers, and a pinch of mozzarella. Bake at 350 for 30 more minutes. Let cool slightly before slicing.

ENJOY!!

I like making mini eggplant pizzas - bake the eggplant with a little oil or cooking spray rubbed on each side until it's nearly brown then top with pasta sauce and low-fat cheese. I do the same thing with portobello mushrooms, but chop the stalks off and use them as topping. you don't need to cook them first.

Pizza Oh How I love Pizza

Postby Tigger1660 » Mon Sep 10, 2007 10:31 pm

I have come to the conclusion that WW tortilla and WW pita bread are not that bad at all and can used for almost anything from peanut butter to making pizza.
All it takes is a little imagination and a love of pizza. A toasted pita becomes crisp just add your pizza ingredients, warm til melted and have at it.
Tortillas will work the same way. One just makes a pocket the other is flat.
South Beachers can find a way to make the food the South Beach way! :D

Postby peabody » Wed Sep 12, 2007 4:35 pm

I tried the zuchinne pizza crust and baked it for a little longer than the recipe says to, it was great even my kids who complain about eating anything "diet" loved it!!
I got up the next morning thinking I would take some to work for my lunch to find it GONE!!! My husband works 3rd shift and came home, found "left-over pizza" and gobbled it up!! He said it was really good too!
Here's a thumbs up for this one! :D

This is what I did tonight.

I spread 2tbsp of lite cream cheese in a baking pan, topped it with salsa, chopped onions/peppers/mushrooms/3oz chopped ham/1oz cheddar cheese, sprinkled oregano over top. I baked this for about 10 min. on 400 in the oven.

I baked a 100% ww pita bread in the oven until toasty

I scooped bits of the pizza dip onto the bread and ate it. It was absolute heaven.
