frequent urination?

Postby kalie » Fri Aug 18, 2006 4:14 am

I'm on day two of P1. I've always been good about drinking lots of water -- usually something like 80-100oz (I've been doing this for at least six months). The last two days, I haven't drank any more water than usual. However, I'm finding that I'm running to the bathroom about once an hour. This is really strange and I'm wondering if it's something that happens to others as well or what the deal is. Any thoughts?

This is very common-- with a reduction in carbs, the body starts to release some stored water weight. Some is probably from glycogen that is being used up, so the attached water is released, and you may have some water retention due to sodium as well, and that is being released due to lowered insulin levels. It should slow down as your systems normalize.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

Okay, good, thanks. I expected some increase, but not practically once an hour. It's a bit inconvienent (especially at work and in the middle of the night), but hopefully it'll slow down soon. :)
