hey lorka...

actually no i'm not. i'm 100% canadian and i plan on staying that way. i MAY, and i say that very loosely, get dual when hubby & i start having babies but for now, i don't want to deal with that whole immigration thing again. it took far too long for me to get my green card (9/11 issues and so forth) so i'd much rather just keep it as is. hehe.

the reason i ask (just because i dont want you to think i'm just being nosy), is i am planning on moving south, and i was talking with someone about it, and i was wondering how health coverage works, because with my plethora of health problems, if i got very ill, i'd want to come back here and get treated for free!

Postby vancouverAJ » Thu Aug 24, 2006 4:13 am

So far so good. The re-introducing of fruits has been great. No crazy cravings. I can't wait til next week when I can start eating cereal again =)
wahoo!

the thing i'm weary about is that i'm pmsing (sorry, TMI) so i'm craving chocolate. i don't really have any although today, i had a bite of some ghirardelli 72% dark chocolate. it sufficed. i should suck it though..not chew. hahahaha

oh no worries, i don't think you're nosey. i get asked that a lot. =)

as for health coverage, i'm lucky because my husband is in the military so i'm covered regardless. i don't have to really worry about privatized health care cuz the military health coverage is pretty much socialized.

in any case, here it's all privatized. i'm still rather confused to be honest, about how it works here. PPO, HMO...don't understand it. but for you, will you be moving here on a work visa? or through marriage? (hope i'm not being nosey by asking!! =) )

oh, far down the road and just because i want to live in the southern, hot, hot states.
it'll be for me - but the thing is, i'm opening up a business out of my house. i'll just hope that OHIP and i are still as one :)

and my plan will be that i'm making some sort of gargantuan amount of money that i can fly home at the drop of a hat to get well.

... thanks though!

Day THREE

Postby vancouverAJ » Thu Aug 24, 2006 3:33 pm

I'm trying to cut out of the SF redbull from my morning regimen [substituting it with a good ol' regular cup o' joe] and I don't know if I can do it. I'm TIRED as hell and I'm not quite fond of the coffee taste as I used to be. I am also not sure that it works as a 'perk me up' [no pun intended] since I've been drinking SF Redbull forever. Why the change? I'm trying to be cost efficient. heh.

Anyway, DAY THREE and so far so good. I didn't get much sleep last night because there was a couple fighting and walking up and down my street. Obviously, they were loud enough to rattle the dogs so on top of their fighting was barking. LOTS OF BARKING. ugh. Even Boo, our pit that sleeps beside me was starting to growl; dunno if he was pissed about being woken up or that he felt I was in danger.

Hopefully I don't need to grab a redbull that I keep in my drawer for 'emergencies'. I'll guzzle water til I can't guzzle anymore.....

my first degree that i have is in music, so i might open a small music school, but i've gone back to school to become an RD, and going to open my own practice. also, my sister is a pastry chef, and i bake and cook allergen free, but most people who order from personal chefs can still get very ill from cross contamination, so if we're in the same area, i'm going to do her allergen-free baking and cooking in a dedicated kitchen, and we're going to combine that. but that's a side thing.

sorry, what's an RD??

that's cool you make all that allergen free stuff. i checked out your blog and it's awesome. you make some really good dishes!

as for me, i plan on catering to people who want to eat HEALTHY and really try to incorporate the SBD in my cooking for them. cooking for me is no questions asked...all SB....but you know, some people might not be too keen on this WOE. heh.

DAY THREE

Postby vancouverAJ » Fri Aug 25, 2006 2:55 pm

Yay =)

Yesterday before I left for work, my coworkers offered me some cake. I told myself, only a nibble and that's it. And, surprisingly, once I took a teeeeeeny bite, I spat it out. I threw the rest of the cake out and grabbed the half of my NSA fudgsicle that I had in the freezer from last week. Normally, I would have a BITE, a regular good ol' bite, but I couldn't even have that. If that's not progress, I dunno what is! To be quite honest, the cake tasted like ass more than cake. ugh. My fudgsicle tasted far better than that!

Anyhoo, here's my meal plan. I'm itching to weigh myself, but I must hold off! Tuesday August 29th...I can wait 4 days...

B:
2 eggs [1 real, 1 egg beater] poached
2 slices canadian bacon [3 inches in diameter]
5.5 oz V8
SF Redbull [I obviously couldn't stay away. Just wasn't feeling the coffee this morning]

S:
[if required]
1/2-1cup veggies

L:
Leftover Bell Pepper tuna melt
1.5 cup cooked veggies
1 granny smith apple

S:
[if required]
1 cup veggies
.375 oz of yogurt with SF jello mixed in

D:
[if the hubby and i are staying in]
mock spaghetti [spaghetti squash] with meat sauce [extra lean beef]
[if we're going out to panera]
black bean soup & a salad

Dessert:
NSA Fudgsicle

Made some Chocolate Black Bean brownies and brought some in for my co-workers to try and surprisingly, they liked it!! I'm gonna try the Chocolate black bean cake to see if that's any good and eventually, i'm gonna make my very own ice cream cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (using my ice cream maker to make SB legal ice cream)

I'm gonna be honest. I better not let myself go down the wrong path this weekend. I sometimes find it much easier to follow the SB during the week when I'm at work because I have a routine, whereas during the weekend, it's carefree. I will try 100% to keep myself in check and I'll post how I did come Monday.

so last night, we didn't end up going to panera. instead we ate at el pollo loco.

they unfortunately did not have any breasts & wings available, so i had a thigh and a leg. of course, i took of all the skin and even though it says it's limited in phase 2, i could've had something else. i did however have pinto beans (love beans) and their veggies (made it limited cuz apaprently they soak that stuff in butter! yechk!) oh well, moving forward.....

today's meal plan..well i'm good up to breakfast. not quite sure what's for lunch or dinner but i'll make sure they're SB legal!

B:
2 eggs (1 real, 1 substitute)
2 slices canadian bacon
1 cup FF soy milk with SF coconut syrup (very yummy)
5.5 oz V8

L:
grilled carne asada & pollo asada
1/3 of a whole wheat tortilla (ehhhh)
1 cup veggies
1/2 cup beans
1 fuji apple

D:
grilled mahi mahi
2 cups veggies
1 NSA fudgesicle
