NovaSure/Endometrial Ablation

Postby Aja » Mon Jul 17, 2006 5:13 pm

I was wondering if anyone has had endometrial ablation? I have been having problems with my periods (extremely heavy bleeding) and my doctor sugggested the endo. ablation. I have scheduled the procedure, but am nervous about having it done. Wondering is anyone has anything to say about it.

Thanks...

Did they put you to sleep for the procedure? Did you have the hot water treatment -- I know there are several ways for the doctor to do it.

I was asleep. I had the nova sure not the water.. nova sure is laser. the doc did a D&C before the procedure.

i was going through 30 overnight pads every month (1 an hour for 4 days then every 2-3 hours for 6 more days)... passing clots etc... now even two years later I have nothing.

That sounds exactly like me. I am having the water treatment done and the D&C also. Thanks for the info.. makes me feel better about having it done.

Do you mind me asking what this is. I was diagnosed with endometrios last summer and had laproscopy surgery to remove extreme scar tissue adhesions. Do you know where there is more info on this? I have done searches but I'm not so good at that.

those with endometriosis are not candidates

this is a procedure for women who are past child bearing age who have heavy bleeding due to non-specific reasons. (i.e. hormonal peri-menopausal bleeding)

what it does is permanently burn and scar the third deepest lining of the uterus so that you don't get as heavy a period as you were getting. IF YOU ARE LUCKY it stops them all together (as it has done in my case)

but if you have not had your tubes tied you need to be on a good birth control as you no longer will ever be able to support a pregnancy.
