A thought for today:

If you'd like to change your circumstances you have to change your behavior.

In order to change your behavior, you have to change your thinking.

In order to change your thinking, you have to become aware of the thoughts that created your circumstances in the first place.

In order to become aware of those thoughts, you have to recognize your inner brat who likes things just the way they are.

Didn't want to get out of bed today - Monday. :? Going to be a very busy week. Had trouble falling asleep last night, my hips hurt when I layed down... not sure why. This morning I have heart burn, but I think it's cause my pants are too tight  - gotta work on less gut!

My mood is pretty good for a Monday... not feeling blah, but not as bad as I have been.

B was 2 hb eggs, coffee and V8

Walked at lunch time with coworker - 35 minutes. My goal was 5x a week starting June 1 and I was disappointed that I missed June 1. But if I walk tomorrow and wednesday I can meet that goal.

Walks
June 2 - 30 minutes
June 4 - 35 minutes in the rain
June 5 - 35 minutes
TO DO
June 6 35 minutes DONE
JUne 7

I CAN DO THIS!

AM snack was raw carrots and hummus
L - cottage cheese/mandarin oranges, bean cake, cheese stick
SN before grandkids' swim lessons - apple w/pb

Tonight is last session of swim lessons for grandkids - all four attend at the Y and the parents/grandparents take part to be with them in the pool. All are under 4 yo - the youngest 1 yo. They absolutely LOVE it and I usually do some water aerobics and water walking while in the pool! Then later - meeting at 6 pm that I hope is over by 8 pm! I'm going to have a salad for dinner - I think. Ordering in pizza for the others. I asked everyone how many slices they wanted so there wouldn't be ANY for me - in case I was tempted.

NOTE to self - need to drink more water... only 24 oz so far today!

RJ...3 days in a row! Way to go, lady! You're doing more than I thought you were going to...weren't you going to start w/15 min a day? Wow!

I'm about ready to put on my shoes and go walking this morning. Hopefully, my friend and I will get in about 40 minutes.

Have a good one!

You're right Slimmin' - MY plan was to start with 15 minutes, but walking with my coworkers - we compromised and agreed to do at least 30 minutes. I'm keeping up and don't feel I'm overdoing - so 30 minutes it is!

Last night's salad was a bomb.... coworker picked up the dinner and the salad was HORRID - brown lettuce... ewwwwww - so I ate the chicken off the top. At home later - Kashi Good Friends with skim milk, apple w/pb from snack and 1 oz. dark chocolate and  some peanuts - probably an ounce.

If it wasn't busy at work - and I didn't work with IDIOTS - my mood would be great. As it is, I feel good, but work is making me crabby.

Two days and not a single hot flash! Haven't had soy in two days... haven't been able to figure out what's going on there.

Today is Tuesday and it's good weather! :D A bit cloudy, but nice wind and temps in mid 70's... humidity isn't high either.

Breakfast - V8, 1 hb egg, coffee and 8 oz. water
SN - hb egg then one hour later - cottage cheese w/mandarin orange (I buy the individual servings of each, so easy to grab and eat)
L - raw carrots w/hummus, 6 triscuits and yogurt

Plan a soy shake for snack
D is going to be zucchini crust pizza and some cauliflower salad - I think.

My plan for June was not to weigh till the end of the month and just concentrate on how my body feels.

I feel lighter cause even with these few days of walking, my joints are looser and I'm not hobbling as much when first standing. I didn't manage to grow out of my clothes with the pounds I put back on - but there are a few things I don't want to squeeze into at this point. I'm hoping by the end of June everything hanging in the closet will fit well.

Hi RJ -
Thanks for stopping by and the support. It's been a difficult day - but ok.

I'm glad to see you're sticking to your plan - and exercising too.

I'm sure the clothes will all fit soon - cause you'll be "in shape".

Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you, fellow Garden Stater.

Today is a rainy Wednesday - walking today will be sheer luck - I have a night meeting after working all day.

More than anything else, I believe it's our decisions, not the
conditions of our lives, that determine our destiny.

Yesterday turned out to be a good day - but I was very tired by 6 pm and spent a good part of the evening on the couch.

My water intake is still low - going to pay special attention today. Not hungry this morning and had only V8 for breakfast with my coffee.

As tired as I was last night, I forced myself to clean my sink (FLYlady) - and it only took 12 minutes. It was nice to awake with a clean sink today! I haven't missed one night for a week.

Today is Thursday - no work today. Last night got home at 10 pm from work. :?

Wednesday's eats
B - V8, coffee
SN - cottage cheese and mandarin oranges
L - yogurt, raw carrots, zucchini crust recipe
SN - peanuts (about 30?), edamame (1/4 cup), 3 triscuits w/cheese and big oatmeal cookie
D - zucchini crust recipe, chicken patty, skim milk
SN - 1 slice ww bread w/pb

Too much in the peanuts and PB. The additonal bread w/pb was to calm my nerves from a frustrating late meeting. :?
Drank more water, but didn't measure.

I am sleeping so well this week - don't wake up at all, falling asleep easily. My hot flashes are all but gone this week. I am a controlling person and the fact that the soy and not eating sugar doesn't seem to have a direct link to the hot flashes leaves me not knowing and a bit frustrated... but I'm trying to relax about it and just be happy that I feel better.

Was going to weigh today, but decided not to. NOT TILL June 30. I don't feel any lighter, but was hoping part of my gain was water weight and I would see a difference. That will have to wait.

I am eating too much when I walk in the door from work - have to stay aware that this is just a habit and have something planned rather than hanging in the kitchen after work.

No walking yesterday - we'll see what today brings, it's my day off walking as I have the twins today.

Hi RJ-
Hope you enjoyed the twins. I'll be seeing my twin GD's tomorrow.

I identified with the eating as soon as you come in the door after work. I used to do that all the time.

Glad you're sleeping better. Things are always better when you get a decent night's sleep.

Well - one month later......... I'm sort of ready to jump back on SB after a small detour. First step - "talk" about it... the rest should fall back into line. I signed up for Boot Camp - that should help.

Day 1 of bootcamp #2. I gained all weight back from my second attempt at SB (which began last October)... don't want to dwell on the number, but I've tried NOT weighing and it didn't help me do any better - so this time I'm going to weigh daily (as I had for years) and see if I stick to it better. If I find it's setting my mood for the day, I'll reconsider.

Weight this AM 173. The water challenge for bc is tough since I've been lax for a month now. Had 6 glasses so far, shooting for at least 4 more - maybe 6. Technically I need to drink 86 oz. each day.

Part of my problems this past month have been hormonal - the mood swings and bad hot flashes took me by surprise - then the hot flashes stopped, but the depressing feelings lingered. I know in the past, my mood improved greatly with SB, I'm hoping it will again.

One major hurdle today and probably tomorrow will be no chocolate! I've been indulging a few too many times a week for the past month.

I can do without chocolate!
I want to fit properly into my clothes again (I gave away the larger size and am squeezing into the ones I have that fit 8-10 pounds ago)

I need this.

What I ate yesterday
B/ lf cheese stick, V8 and coffee w/hnh
sn/ baby carrots and hummus
l/ hb egg and 20 peanuts
sn/ soy shake made w/skim milk and about 10 strawberries
d/ 2 grilled hot dogs, grilled zucchini and cauliflower/egg salad w/bacon

water was OUTSTANDING! for day #1 - 100+ oz

Today dropped two pounds of water bloat - yes!

I made it through the day without chocolate, although I thought about it. Also forgot to take the soy shake slow after a month without one and the gas pains after dinner were not fun... even though I was uncomfortable I kept thinking about eating.... this is just a bad habit, snacking at night when I am not hungry. :?
