Hi Kirian!

Thanks so much for stopping by my journal. It really means alot to me when I get support from others here. I look forward to the doing the challenge with you.

I really am not that motivated especially today. I had a binge day today But I keep telling myself that it is ok and that I have to live and not let it get me off track. so what if I ate cheesecake!!

I do have trouble with the exercise also except for yoga. I am really into doing yoga because I get so much more out of it than just exercise. It has really helped me thru some difficult situations.

You seem to be very motivated so I will have to pop into your journal often for some inspiration!!

It is all about developing good habits MOST of the time!!

Trader Joe's is great but Whole Foods.... rocks!! I try to make a trip once a month to stock up. I could go crazy in that store.

It has just been a lovely Saturday. The weather has left little to be desired, but it is cooler out - which is nice. We had a relaxing day at home today!

Mine and DH's 2 year anniversary is on Monday. I am horrible with gifts because I can never wait to give them to him. He *always* gets them early! I gave him his gift last night when he got home from work. He has been wanting to get a fish tank again (we had one years ago) for a long time. He is the type that won't spend money on things he wants - he worries about everyone else first! Sooooo....I got him a 20 gallon starter kit. Came with everything he would need - tank, hood, filter, heater, themometer, a net, food and water treatement samples.

I couldn't lift it myself so I had the guy at Petsmart put it into my trunk. I went to Target and got a HUGE blue bow and stuck it on top. I then picked him up from work. When we got home I waited until we got in the house and said "Oh man, I forgot something in the car! Can you help me with it?". He put his shoes back on and came out with me - as we got near the trunk I popped it open with the remote. When he looked in to grab what it was I said "happy aniversary"! He loved it - was so surprised too. We ended up going right back out (after he got it in the house) to get a nice stand for it.

He spend the night putting together the stand and the day getting the tank setup. We can't wait to put fish into it now!! We are going to do a tropical tank and he is going to let me get an angelfish for it - I have always wanted one! It is soooo awsome to see how much he loved this!!! :D

I spent the day staying off my left foot. I injured it yesterday exercising. I did something to my achilles tendon. It does feel better - but it is still a bit sore. I can walk on it and put all my weight on it so I don't think I did anything too serious. I'm gonna have to just be careful over the next week or two.

This combined with the fact that I have been struggling to get through my exercise on MWF told me that I really need to slow down. I think I added too much too soon. One of my goals for the Back to Basics Challenge is to space out my exercise. I plan to stick with the Strength Training on MWF and do cardio on TuThS. I don't know if I should go out walking after what I did to my foot. Will have to see how it feels. I do have a pilates tape I can put in instead that gives me a pretty good workout with little on my feet.

We had another great day today! Hubby and I went out to the petstore and got some decorations and plants to add in to the tank. We got some basic supplies too. Now tomorrow we can finally go get some fishies!! It is fun watching our cats reactions as we add things - they have never seen a fishtank in their lives. It is going to be cute to watch them when we add the fish in!

My achilles tendon still hurts pretty bad. It seems to be a bit worse today. If it doesn't feel any better tomorrow then I may head to the doc's office too and have it checked out. I can still walk on it - but it was difficult today.

Hubby took the day off tomorrow for our anniversary. It will be nice to have another day home with him! We are going to go out to dinner at a nice little steak house around the corner and we may go to see a movie. I am just looking forward to time with him! :)

Another one of my goals for the Back to Basics Challenge is to keep my sodium levels below 2000. I was getting WAY too much sodium in my diet before and am trying to cut back. I was having days in the upper 3000 to lower 4000. If I can keep it under 1500 I will be even happier! I am going to start posting how much sodium I had for the day when I post my food intake.

three Thanks for stopping by! Sorry to hear you had an off day. I just know that the challenge will help you out - give you something to focus and people to support you!!

Thank you for your kind words! :D

So, tell me - what are your favorite things to get at Whole Foods? I am so going back to both places, and more prepared (good lists) this time!

lorka Thanks and hello!! 8)

kirian,
i don't frequent whole foods too often, becasue we only have a few here in canada.
but when i go, i always get my favourite cereal (Nature's Path brand... variety of the gluten-free/dairy-free ones), mori-nu tofu, pickled ginger, and frontier organic brand spices.

Happy Anniversary!!

I like the fruits and veggies at whole foods because I try to follow an organic diet for the most part. The meats are great and the seafood.....yummmm!! I mostly go for the fresh food but I always end up leaving with stuff that jumps out at me while walking down the aisles - you know- the stuff that I cannot live without like the whole wheat cookies that I should not be eating! Sometimes, I just have to have them!! I will eat one or two and then bring them to my nephew.

I swear, I will never be skinny again. I have to start running or something because sweets are my weakness. I am so much better though... so, so much better than I was.

Hey Kirian, I'm a bit late but happy anniversary!

Let me join everyone else to say that your menus are great! If had the same creativity (and talent) I know that dieting would be much easier for me :)

I also read Memoirs of a Geisha, I just loved it, I couldn't put the book down!! I was a little disappointed about the movie, though...

Thanks Aninha! :D

Thanks for the compliments on the menu too! It's funny - I feel like I have been stuck in a bit of a rut (and have been working to get out of it) and am very uncreative with food! It is always odd how we perceive ourselves!

I am a bit into Memoris of a Geisha and I just love it so far. It is so interesting! Thanks for the heads up on the movie.

Phew - what a day I had today!!! I was hoping to spend more time here and get caught up and visit some journals. Instead I spent the whole day going back and forth to the pet store. I am just glad it is soooo close!

We finally got fish for our tank yesterday. We found some really nice one's too. We ended up not getting the Angel Fish because some of the other fish we wanted tend to pick at them. So we left with 4 fish last night to start things. A Tiger Barb, a Long-Fin Rosie Barb, a Pictus Catfish, and a Rainbow Shark.

This morning after I dropped hubby off at work I noticed that the tiger seemed to be chasing the rosie. A few hours go by, and this behavior was still happening. I took the fish and went to leave the house...I walked out the door and as it shut realzied that my house and CAR keys were still inside! These are the times I am gratefull I live in an apartment complex!!

I got in the car and went to Petsmart and they said that I could try a second Tiger Barb because they tend to like to be in groups and that may distract the first from the Rosie. I bring the second one home and then the 2 Tiger Barbs try to kill each other! It was insane!! So I scoop out the more agressive one (that we got last night) and bring him back to the store. The lady that helped me before went to find someone more knoweledgable to see what I could do next. She came over to talk to me and told me that the Tiger and Rosie don't get along at all and should not be in the same tank! DUH!! Would have been nice to know this when we bought them. She was very apologetic and told me to go home and get the other Tiger and bring him back right away.

I told her that the others were stressed from everything that happened today and the Catfish had been laying on the bottom of the tank breathing heavily. She gave me some tips to help reduce the stress in the tank. I got home to get the other Tiger and the Catfish was now barely alive. So I brought him too. They gave me a refund on the second Tiger and replaced the poor little Catfish. All the while the helpfull lady was extremely apologetic. Ugghhh - what a day. I didn't even get to lunch until 5 because of all the running around!!!!!

So - yeah - this will be a long entry...I just really needed to vent all that. It totally SUCKS when you run into problems like that. I just want all the fishies to be happy and healthy and get along!!

Our anniversary was wonderful! We spent the day together and went to see Over the Hedge. It was so cute and funny too! Then we went out to eat at Chilis. I did really well - no temptation to really eat non-beachy things. I had a Cup of Chili, and a NY Strip Steak with veggies on the side. The steak probably was not the leanest cut of meat but it was GOOD!

Oh - and before we went to the movies we went to the florist together and I picked out a red rose, he picked out a red rose and a white rose. We had a rose ceremony at our wedding. It was beautiful. Part of that included us exchaning roses and to have a space dedicated to doing this on our anniversary every year. So, we brought our roses home and put them in their special vase which has a copy of the ceremony above it! He reminded me about this too! :D

He did really good. He got me a "Spa Day"...a mani, pedi, and haircut at the best salon in the area! Man do I love my Hubby!! :D

Alright - I think I talked enough....this entry will be three pages all on its own!!!

That's ok lorka. ;) I don't mind...really!

I totally agree with you! I usually wait to see the movie before I read the book but that just didn't happen this time.
