couscous

Postby americ » Tue Oct 18, 2005 1:58 am

Hi, I saw somewhere a phase 2 meal that included Near East Roasted Garlic and Olive oil Couscous, now I read the allowable P2 foods and it says whole wheat or Israeli. What does that mean? Is the one I bought ok? It 's ingredients: couscous precooked semolina, olive oil, salt garlic onions soy protein spices. Then at the bottom "contains wheat and soy ingred. "Is this the right one?
Want to stay on P1 a wk more, eating too many pistacchios, kind of hard to stop! Only lost 4lbs. very dissappointed, but not giving up.
Thanks for your responses.

dairy/yogurt p2

Postby americ » Tue Oct 18, 2005 2:14 am

Hi Carol G.
I read or am reading the updated P2 foods to enjoy you posted, are we really allowed 2-3 cups of dairy!? Seems like a lot from 1-1.5 in P1! I love eating the plain ff yogurt with cinnamon and equal, so I use most dairy by eating that. So this is great. Also, only skim milk still (forever)? Also you state 30 grams/1 oz/3/4 cup. Varieties with 3.0 etc...what are you referring to when you say grams? Serving size? Fiber content? Sorry, I'm confused here and I DO enjoy cold cereal so this is important for me to understand so I don't overdo it. :D
Thanks for replies

Is it okay to use a little of ICBIButter spray on the popcorn?

Yes. You can use I can't believe It's Not Butter on the popcorn. Just remember to use a serving... like 5 sprays or so. You can try adding different flavorings like fresh herbs, spices, and the many varieties of Ms. Dash. I don't think the ICBINB is a major issue BUT it isn't all natural. You could always try extra virgin olive oil. I have grown to love the taste of it and it is an all natural fat. I still love experimenting with flavor infused olive oil and popcorn. And 3 cups is just enough for me :D Since popcorn could be considered medium on the GI using a good fat like olive oil would slow the absorbtion of carbs into your system. If you have the allowance in your day for fat, and you don't like/want to use olive oil you could melt some ICBINB in the tub and drizzle on top. Or add lf cheese. Yum. :)

First day in P2 and ....

Postby littledebbiekim » Sat Apr 08, 2006 11:10 pm

Well today is my first day of phase 2 and i just had my dinner. It consitsted of a grilled pacific salmon fillet and a big salad. Then i ate one slice of Country Harvest stone milled 100% whole wheat bread. Well immediatly after i had it finished i began to panic and felt like i had just done something VERY wrong. I started to panic with guilt and jumped online to read more about p2. Has anyone else paniced like this ??? I don't think that I am going to stop p1. I will just do it for another week i think. I started at 181bs on day one and weighed in today at 174. I have been 174 for the whole second week. I know that i should be happy that i lost 7 lbs and all but i am a carb addict and am really afraid to reintroduce carbs of any kind back into my diet. Oh my god .....I know that this is when the real diet starts and all but will one more week really hurt me? No i doubt it . I just want to get more comfortable with the menu planning this week and not have to run and read on here before i do any kind of eating and all that. I am scared to tell you the truth. Does anyone know if this bread is ok? It has: for 2 slices it says
240 cal
total fat 4.5g
fibre 6gms
sugars 5g
It is in the book i think. It says stonemilled whole grain 100% ww is good.

Yes, Leigh... just be sure to have it with a meal, not by itself.

In my book it lists strawberries as one of the fruits to reintroduce, but I did not see them on this list. Are strawberries allowed?
