Bella152's Phase 3 Maintenance Journal

Postby southbeachinit » Wed Mar 15, 2006 8:30 pm

I have decided to start a journal as I continue to journey into Phase 3 of the South Beach Diet. This has been one incredible journey, and I am nearing my two year Beachiversary. I initially started with a goal of 20lbs, and kept on the SBD to continually be pleasantly surprised. So here I am, stuck at this weight for at least 12 months now. Apparently, my body has decided this is where I am meant to stay, so no complaints :)

It seems that Phase 3 is perhaps the most difficult of all the Phases, but I am up for the challenge :)

Start Date: March 29, 2004
Heaviest adult weight: 185 (2003)
Starting Weight: 170lbs
Goal Weight: 150lbs
Current Weight: 127 lbs
_____________________________________________________________

Update for today:

Breakfast: 1 ww toast with light laughing cow, skim milk, 1.2 banana

Lunch: Turkey on ww, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, almonds, low fat mozz, green grapes. Aquafina

Thirty minutes treadmill

Dinner: Scrambled eggs, green salad

Today is my 2 year Beachiversary!

I can't believe I made it this far, but at the same time, it doesn't seem that big a deal to me. I guess because for the most part, I have made this a WOE :)

Meals and exercise are the same ol' as they have always been. I may want to switch things up a bit. I will be rejoining my local gym May-August so I am looking forward to that.

Other than that, its the traditional treadmillin it

Goals for this Spring:

Stay on all aspects of the plan: Diet PLUS exercise
Take some Aquafit classes
Tone my flabby arms

Overall have a Beachy summer. I have converted some of my friends, only because they asked me. One of my friends has her sisters grad from residency so she wants to lose some before than. I plan on helping her along. Another girl whom I went to h.s. with also borrowed the book so I hope they are both successful......

Anyways I look forward to keeping in touch with my fellow Beachers

Hey there, thought I'd stop in to say Hi and Happy Friday.

Again, congrats on reaching phase 3. I have heard maintenance, no matter what plan you follow, is the hardest so keeping a journal is still a very good idea! Afterall, you are still on the journey, wont we always be? :D SBD is a way of life!

Have a great day and welcome back!

Hey everyone

Thanks for the kind words......

Today I picked up a business suit and Joseph Ribkoff dress that I had ordered earlier this week. They coincided with my 2 year Beachiversary. I needed the suit for interviews and stuff, and the dress for a formal anniversary party in May.

So I was quite excited.

Then I got shoes, and accessories.

Now I just have to tan and get a pedicure and book an updo. It is on a Friday which is kinda weird but it should be a good time.

Never thought I would be in a 4 dress!! I can't believe it myself but it makes me proud :)

K I will update later

A size 4, that's great!

Phase 3 is a bit daunting because it seems like once you let yourself have a little cheat here and there, you could suddenly find yourself cheating all the time. I know you can do it though!

I like your goals for the spring, how is it going?

Thanks Emily

The dress is a 4 (I am a six) and I doubt I would wear a four for other things because I wouldn't be comfortable and I don't want to be a size I am not (yet). I don't intend to be a 4 regardless.

Yeah P3 is by far the worst, lol. I basically have to diet all the time because I can slip up and then the scale will slip up as well.

Spring goals are OK. I have been exhausted lately and not putting much into it. I prefer working out outdoors rather than being inside so I am not doing structured cardio.

This week is pretty much a right off b/c we had Palm Sunday, then my g/f came over yesterday who is not Italian but eats Italian and refuses to let me diet when we are together. Good Friday is also a write off, and then Easter Sunday.

I will be P1ing it Monday April 17 for at least a week, maybe two.

My function is May 12 so I want to make sure I will be OK and not bloated.

Thanks for stopping in :)

Here are my plans to backslide this wkd, I am so excited

Good Friday: Dinner at my fav grandmothers. A whole lotta crappy most likely fried foods. Should be a good time. The only thing I am looking forward to is pastries from an italian bakery that my Aunt will bring from the GTA.

Easter Sunday:

Antipasto (butterfly shrimp, seafood salad, olives, bocconcini cheese, etc)

Homemade lasagna

Salted Cod

Lamb/ Roasted Potatoes

Salad/Green Beans

Fruit

Dessert

Monday P1ing it for sure. Until April 26th, possibly May 1st. I should be Ok I think........

Exercise is good, treadmilling it as always. This week has been mostly unpreventable dinners which I really hate but that should be the end of them......

LOL, love that you call them "plans to backslide"!! That's great. I know you'll make it through Easter weekend unscathed, and able to get back on track!

Great job on keeping up on all the exercise too, very motivating. In fact, I should go do my elliptical RIGHT NOW!!

Hope you and your family have an awesome Easter.

Hey Jannah thanks for checking in

Things are going great despite my lack of updating. I am taking two Spring courses which are keeping me quite busy. This week one ends, and the other goes till July. I am doing great though, still applying the SBD principles.

Joined the gym a while ago, I love it. When I am not pretending I know what I'm doing in Aquafitness, I am upstairs on the machines and stationary bike. Jannah you are right I can't do the eliptical for long: the ones at the gym are designed to slowly kill you, lol.... So I do 30 minutes on the bike.

Anyways I am still the same size and same weight, maintaining nicely. I may want to try again to reach 120 but if I don't make it I won't sweat it. I think my body has adjusted to this set point. I will P1 it again before September but I want to wait until this course finishes up this week so I don't have to worry about feeling lightheaded on campus.

Last night I was unexpectedly invited to a church function at the last minute with just enough time to wash/straighten my hair. I finally wore what I had bought last Spring, a lace black satin camisole with a coral shrug. The camisoles are really in style, because of the trims on the bottom. They hit at the hip too which I love. My Dad was not impressed, but too bad, I worked hard to get here. I wasn't showing anything regardless!

I had beef on a bun (white) but I won't die. I won't be doing that again though. They also had junk and fruit, mainly watermelon which I haven't touched in 2+ years and don't plan on. I don't miss it all that much.

So thats the scoop, I may come back in the Fall, depending on how busy I am with school and that.

Thanks for checking in :)
