Ahhh, now I understand moatmeal, may give that a try in the a.m. It's more fun w/a funny name. (it takes very little to make me happy  )Very cool on the measurements-I am impressed. As is frequently the case in my life-i am confused again. What is this bootcamp stuff about? Very interesting.
I am glad you and your BF will be together soon. Reading about you having to deal w/the separation makes me take a second look at my jitters re:BF moving in. I would miss him horribly if he was gone for an extended period of time.
And BTW the carrots sound yummy.
Last but not least thanks for visiting my journal.Hooray-a new journal friend. :D

helloooo!!!

I'm BACK!

I was in lovely home sweet home, New York City. And I pretty much ate Manhattan. Yes. I ate absolutely everything in sight, especially if it was covered in chocolate.
So I am not looking at the scale as I drink loads of water and go shopping for Beachy food.

mmmmm pizza...

didnt have pizza this time. But did have all sorts of other goodies.
It was funny- I noticed that the times I ate stuff with white flour i really was hungrier faster. If i had WW i was fine.

i found a good trick for salads at work- i made Balsamic Chicken the other night and then today i brought in the leftovers and had with a salad. It was so good. I'll have to remember that.

B: moatmeal, coffee
S: coffee, yogurt, triscuits
L: huge salad w/ spinach, lettuce, beans, chicken, cheese, carrots
S: nuts, chocolate chips
S2: fruit salad
D: steak, cauliflower
Dess: hot choc & baked chickpeas

Hi skinnypeep! I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. The salad trick sounds really good. I have made the SBD balsamic chicken before and it seems like the leftovers would be great served up that way. Have a great day!

SP, just checking in to see how you're doing. A trip to NYC sounds wonderful. I'm loving BC - it really keeps me on track. I started to fall OP during our week off, but now I'm feeling a renewed commitment. Amazing what all the encouragement from our friends can do, isn't it?

OK- this sounds like the coolest thing- I am about to go try it now...

When you first look at the ingredients, they may shock you . . . we asked Santosha to post her recipe a long while back and every one of us cringed when we read it. Thus we jokingly termed it the "Grossout Smoothie" !! I've renamed it so that people will give it a chance

It's amazingly good, and there are many variations that you can use to make it suitable for your own taste. We are all hooked on it and I have one practically every day!! Hope you enjoy!

Quote:
1 cup raw baby spinach (or more...I do two big handfuls)

1/2 cup berries of some sort (strawberries, mixed berries...whatever...I do the frozen ones - they seem to add better texture to the smoothie. I also do frozen mango. I bet banana would be good too....)

1 cup 8th Continent Light Vanilla Soy milk (if you're not a fan of soy milk, try NF milk w/vanilla and splenda...or SF vanilla syrup...) The 8th continent tastes like a Vanilla milkshake, I swear...it's sweet and vanilla-y...

Other "add-ins" - 1/3 cup tofu (silken, light, firm whatever...it all seems to work) OR whey powder OR cocoa OR any combination of all those...sometimes if it's too thick, I also thin it with either water OR apple juice (sshh...my guilty pleasure...I only add a little!)

Blend it up and gulp it down. It looks hideous because of the spinach, but it tastes yummy and is so healthy!

Tip: Do not omit the spinach in this drink. Especially if you dislike vegetables, or need to get more veggies into your diet! You can't taste it at all, the berries and vanilla flavor of the soymilk overpower the spinach and you taste a sweet fruit smoothie!!!
Here are some recent variations/tips I've learned about the smoothie -
**Adding in 1 TBSP flax meal adds some great oils, and a nutty taste, and more fiber to the mix.

**Buy the bagged baby spinach when it goes on sale (ours goes for $1/bag sometimes) and freeze it - it works just as well, if not better, in the smoothie when it's frozen.

**If you make sure you have some protein in the drink, it will keep you fuller longer.

I put 1 % milk, 2 handfuls of fresh spinach, 3 cubes, 1 scoop designer chocolate whey protein powder, 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries from sams club and whirl it up in the blender.....it's very yummy!

Edited to add: Wow that was really good! No i'm serious! I put in spinach, skim, plain yogurt, SF syrup, raspberries, some cut up apples, grapes. It was really tasty. and green.
