well I'll admit I have never been a big custard person either but it was a nice change from the jello. I have a tendency to make a recipe how its written, taste it and then iif i don't like the texture or flavor I add or alter a bit til its better. I did this a bit to the custard too and it came out really well (we thought). I used a bit of pumpkin pie spice and nutmeg mixed in the egg mixture and then sprinkled more on top (let me note that I didn't taste test this particular recipe...as its made with eggs but I added the spice to the mixture as an oversight to the recipe directions and then added the pumpkin pie spice cuz it smelled like it needed more flavor...). I used the easy to measure splenda too. I feel it has a different flavor and texture than the little packets. When I served it I added a dollop of sf cool whip on top. This added a bit more sweetness and lightness to the texture.
You may not be much of a custard person however. I will try some of those other custard recipes that I sent you and see if they are any good too. I tried the bean pudding tonight. I'm not sure what i think. I had to alter this one and doctor it up. It says to eat it warm but I didn't care for it. I put it in the fridge and it seems better....I will let it get nice and cold and try it again tonight.
This brings me to a question. If a recipe, like a desert, has mainly beans in it would it be counted towards a veggie?
