custard

Postby tidi_i » Sat Feb 11, 2006 5:23 pm

I GOT YOU TO PAGE 5!!!!!!! 8)

well I'll admit I have never been a big custard person either but it was a nice change from the jello. I have a tendency to make a recipe how its written, taste it and then iif i don't like the texture or flavor I add or alter a bit til its better. I did this a bit to the custard too and it came out really well (we thought). I used a bit of pumpkin pie spice and nutmeg mixed in the egg mixture and then sprinkled more on top (let me note that I didn't taste test this particular recipe...as its made with eggs but I added the spice to the mixture as an oversight to the recipe directions and then added the pumpkin pie spice cuz it smelled like it needed more flavor...). I used the easy to measure splenda too. I feel it has a different flavor and texture than the little packets. When I served it I added a dollop of sf cool whip on top. This added a bit more sweetness and lightness to the texture.

You may not be much of a custard person however. I will try some of those other custard recipes that I sent you and see if they are any good too. I tried the bean pudding tonight. I'm not sure what i think. I had to alter this one and doctor it up. It says to eat it warm but I didn't care for it. I put it in the fridge and it seems better....I will let it get nice and cold and try it again tonight.
This brings me to a question. If a recipe, like a desert, has mainly beans in it would it be counted towards a veggie?

Ok. I ate too much and forgot to ask for no MSG or cornstarch. Even ate a tiny bit of rice- maybe 1/4 cup. Bad girl!

It's OK. You're allowed to go a little crazy once in a while. As long as it doesn't become a regular thing. I don't think one dinner will put on any fat....maybe some water weight, but that's easy to fix! No worries.

In retrospect, I think I really didn't do so badly last night. My meal was the Triple Crown- beef, shrimp, scallops, LOTS of veg, and I didn't really eat that much of the sauce. At least I didn't go "all out" and order the crab rangoon or egg rolls! I did blow off excersizing, but it was cold and snowy all day so my motivation was shot! I didn't sleep last night, so I will definately workout today!

As for today's meals:
B: puffy egg, swiss, and TS (turkey sausage :P ) omelet
L: salad w. genoa and farmers cheese
D: sweet & sour pork with the SBD treatment- no rice :D and lots of snow peas!!
S: apple w/ npb

Today, I WILL excersize! Maybe I'll even do an extra to make up some of the points I lost flaking out yesterday.

Wow! I will certainly be making the sweet and sour pork again!!! It was so good! I had almost the entire package of snow peas with it. Really good dinner last night!

Today's meals are:
B: last of the puffy omelet
L: leftover s&s pork and snow peas
S: pistachios and 2 babybels
D: last of the hamburger stew
S: apple w/ NPB

Sam and I are going swimming tonight, hence the leftovers. No point in cooking when I get home from the pool!

I am having some weight anxiety (sp?). I moved to Phase 2 February 1st. The first three days I gained 3 pounds, but lost two of those the next two days. Since then, I have not lost- or gained- anything. My clothes are no looser either. As I said before, I want to go back to Phase 1 to rid myself of the cravings that returned, and I pretty much have. I have kept the fruit and carrots, even had a pudding the other day. I know adding excersize in will increase your muscle mass and that muscle weighs more than fat. That said, should I not be getting SMALLER? I track my calories on another website, and I wonder if I'm not eating enough? Last Thursday, I ate 1300 calories. Other than that, I don't get more than 1150 in a day. Even with that I feel I am eating too much. I get full so easily. I have stalled completely, and I am getting very discouraged. I know I lost a good bit of weight in Phase 1, but hate that nothing more has disappeared! If anyone has any sage advice, I'm all ears.

If there's anything I've learned from obsessively reading these boards for hours, it's that everybody stalls at one point or another.

That said, is it possible you're getting too FEW calories and you're body is hanging onto the fat because it thinks you're starving it? Especially since you're exercising...? I am in no way qualified to speculate, but it sounds feasible to me.

Don't give up!!

I'm beginning to wonder that myself. The problem with that is I am so full all of the time now, I don't know if I CAN eat more! I suppose I could add another snack? But what? I think today I will make sure I have a snack while I'm at work this afternoon. I don't usually have one until about 8:30 at night (we eat dinner at 6). I'll add that one and see what happens. I hate to go above 1500 calories tho!

Well, Sam and I went swimming this evening. We were there for 1 1/2 hours and even though I wasn't doing real laps, I can feel my muscles! I'm such a slug! I was doing a lot of the exercises we did in H2O aerobics.
Hubby had the soup heated up and ready for us when we got home afterwards. I'm impressed. No really, he's a nice guy... Just doesn't know his way around the kitchen!
I needed a glass of wine after dinner when it was time to help our very precocious 6 yo fill out his Valentines for tomorrow. WOW! I didn't know I still had that much hair to pull out! He's probably the smartest 6 yo I've ever come across, and I don't just mean that because he's mine. However, he's also MY child, which means he was born with a VERY smart mouth! Thank goodness for the calming qualities of a good Pinot Noir! Needless to say, I'm very happy he has only 10 other kids in his class.
I did well with adding the extra snack this afternoon, though I did feel so full after the 1/4 cup nuts that I wasn't sure I would keep them. :( I was happy I still had a BabyBel cheese in the car after swimming though. I really needed it.
My friend DD (tidi_i) has another friend that is going to start SB here anyday now. I hope she finds you all as helpful as I have!

Good night all! :D

Here goes with today's meals:

B: scrambled eggs w/ little bit of cheese and 1 TS, SF Hazelnut nonfat Latte
L: a SBD frozen meal
S: red pepper strips w/ LC cheese
D: Chicken Oscar- chicken breast w/ muchrooms, onions, broccoli, crab, and a little bit of mock Hollandaise, 1/2 cup wild rice mix
S: apple w/ NPB

I have to go to my son's class this morning for the Valentine's Party. I am the head Room Mother for today. We can't bring homemade treats, so for their snack a friend came up with a great idea. I bought some unfrosted cupcakes from the bakery at the store, a can of frosting, and lots of sprinkles. We're going to combine the snack and the craft! The kids are going to decorate their own cupcake and one for another teacher or staff member. I think this is going to be fun for them. I know Sam really loves to do this kind of stuff, and he's going to be so surprised when he gets to do it at school! Plus I won't have to clean it up!

Well, obviously I did not make my original Valentine's Day goal of another 5 pounds. However, I am not completely discouraged. I am still sitting at 236, which is really the lowest I've been in I don't know HOW long. Even If I maintain this for a while, I am still better off than I was before. My new goals are these:
I would like to have my cholesterol lower when I have my check-up in September.
I would like to be at 225 when I have that check-up, if not before.
I want to have to buy new jeans next winter!

I realize it may take me a few years to lose all I need to. I'm okay with that. As long as I stick to the Plan and don't beat myself up if I slip once in a while, I WILL succeed!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm so proud of me! 8) At school today, while passing out the cupcakes and frosting, I got some of both of my fingers. I washed it off!!! Another friend offered me a treat this afternoon at Story Time- homemade cookies no less- and I said no! My boss and friend both told me they think I have the most willpower they have ever seen. Sure, I could have had a small treat today, being Valentine's Day and all. But I haven't, and plan not to! I even did my workout EARLY today! And I added extra veg- carrots and jicama :D to my afternoon snack!
Who am I becoming? :o  :o
