Haha, thanks guys :) I think I'm just in a funk about finding a job and finishing my thesis, and defending in two weeks. GAH. I'm also majorly stressed about money- I've got about $25 in my bank account, and owe DBF for the last two months of utilities. UGH. Thank god I bought DBF's vday present and my mom's bday presents WAY early so I don't have to worry about that.

I think I'm just stressing and bumming about not having a job.

Diet is going well- finished the delicious brown rice salad thingy yesterday so it's not staring at me in the fridge anymore. All phase 1 for the rest of the week. I noticed it didn't really give me any cravings even though it had dried fruit in it. Guess that's a positive.

I'm straying back to the pb though. Made a rule for myself this morning that I can't eat a single bit of pb unless it's my 1 tbsp w/ celery for my pre-workout snack. If I have any pb other than that I can't buy this DVD I want that comes out the end of the month. Although I might make the thai chicken crockpot recipe next week- so then I could eat some b/c it's in the recipe :D

I am cashing my HUGE check from my retail job (it's for $36- ha) so I have to buy more sour cream and shredded cheese (for my chili leftovers in the freezer), then I'm stopping on the way home to get Trader Joe's Bruschetta sauce so I can make Burdle's pizza beans soon. I'm very excited! I could make it this weekend and eat it for all of next week.

Did the weight circuit this morning and 60 minutes of cardio yesterday. The workout routine is going really well and I feel SO much better in general. I forget how much this diet really helps me feel centered and just better about myself. Makes me wonder why I ever left it :?

Ok thanks for the encouragment guys... I'll be back now and again.. maybe not THAT much in the next two weeks, but I'll be around :)

UGH!!! I hate alcohol!! So DBF and I had a little mini v-day after I got home from work a little after 9 last night. We took a bottle of red wine and some dark chocolate and went to sit by the water kind of near our house. Kinda cold but it was beautiful out w/ the full moon. We drank the bottle of wine and I was like "WOAH". I could totally feel it. I drank two glasses of water and went to bed (oh, and i didn't OD on the chocolate, just had a little of the brick I bought from TJ's). I woke up at 10am completely hungover. I still feel it! I only feel this way after a night of pounding drinks and mixing liquor/beer/wine. I forget how much this diet changes your tolerance.

So despite my feeling like total crap I had scrambled eggs w/ cheese and mushrooms, some cottage cheese, a glass of milk and tomato juice. Then just now I had some yogurt w/ sf jello powder in it. I'm determined not to break this diet no matter how shitty I feel.

I need to do a TON of work. I'm stressing out. Today officially makes less than two weeks until my defense. I need to buckle down. But I just feel so horrible today!

I'm pumping myself full of water and am staying sb friendly, I'm going to the gym later if it kills me. Yesterday was my day off so I'm GOING today. Now I know why I stopped drinking. :? I was going to have a few glasses on Saturday when we go on a date, but looks like it will be just one or none!

Maybe I'll have some chili for lunch. I've got one container left. Or I'll have bean dip w/ veggies. Hmm.

Oh and DBF surprised me w/ this beautiful arrangement of roses (and a lily) w/ heart balloons AND for the first time he gave me lingerie!! Ah! It's from Victoria's secret and I actually like it. It's something to work for though- I don't like my "love handles" in it. Yeesh! He also got us this poster of JFK w/ Jackie in a dinner (called Small Town in Oregon) that we both loved. He said it's being delivered today!

Later!

I'm feeling functional now but I'm getting impatient. I want to go to the Y but I'm waiting for my dishwasher to stop. I've already had to deal with my gladware MELTING! It stinks in here. I'm afraid to leave it while it's on!

I'm going to workout until maybe 8:30 or something, shower and do work all night. No more boards, no more TV. JUST WORK. I'm so annoyed I lost the day to a hangover. :?

LOL, I find myself saying that more and more often these days!

Glad you had a good V-day... well except for the hangover that is. And the lingerie will be good motivation - I've been thinking about taking out last year's bikini for just that reason...

Heya,
What chili recipe did you use? There's only about a hundred over in the Recipes area... and I want one that'll freeze well like you mentioned.

BTW I am still making good use of your quiche cups recipe from so long ago... :)

Haha! Yeah I'll post the chili recipe in your journal. I really like it- it's incredibly cheap to make and tastes great... I might add some cayenne pepper next time to give it more of a kick. I think my chili powder doesn't work anymore

So I just wanted to post my excitement of yesterday. I was hungover all day and I ate:

B/L: two eggs w/ mushrooms and cheese, cottage cheese, tomato juice
S: yogurt w/ sf jello
L/D: black bean dip w/ lf cheese and taco sauce w/ about 5 stalks of celery
S before workout: tbsp pb
S after workout: salad w/ cilantro dressing, onions and mushrooms

Workout: 30 min bike, 30 min elliptical and stretching/abs, PLUS an hour long 3 mile walk w/ DBF.

OMG how good was I?????? I was totally beachy and got in an hour of hard cardio and an hour of moderate cardio. I was so proud of myself and woke up feeling nice and skinny :D

Today is going well- not working out this morning b/c got to bed late so I'll be working out after school and then going for a walk w/ DBF again tonight b/c it's supposed to be a beautiful night (60 degrees) and then cool down to the 30's over the weekend. What is WITH this weather??

Changed my title... the other wasn't too interesting. And the other day DBF was asking about my job search/ finishing my thesis/defending it and I just got real quiet and said "I don't really like to talk about my flair". He thought it was hysterical (and got the idea that I don't want to talk about my stuff going on right now).

If anyone hasn't seen Office Space- go rent it now.

I'm stressing out but not talking about it is at least keeping me in the mode where I can do work and focus. SBD and working out is making it so much easier too- I feel so much more clear-headed and alert.

This morning I got up late but had celery w/ pb and tomato juice before going to the gym. Did 10 minutes on the elliptical as a warmup, an hour of weights (3 sets on each machine- 13 machines) and 20 on the upright bike after, followed by a lot of stretching. It was a great workout.

L: egg salad made with mayo and w/ lots of chopped celery and onion and some lf shredded cheese on top; yogurt w/ sf jello powder and I thought i had something else but I can't remember.

S: sf nf vanilla latte (tall) from starbucks while doing work!

D: is going to be chicken teriyaki, dessert is... probably a popsicle.

Tomorrow morning at 9am DBF and I have an appt at the Y to do a fitness test. They take your weight, body fat %, and # of situps & pullups, flexibility and I think some other stuff. I'm nervous! I haven't weighed myself yet and I haven't taken one of these stupid tests since high school!!!

Off to do more work! :D

Had my fitness test this morning - it ended up taking wayyy longer than I had expected because a ton of people were in line.

My blood pressure was 106/69 which they told me was good and I think I've lost about 7-8 pounds in the last 12 days which is promising. My body fat % was also good for my age group - 23% which put me in the "healthy" category. I did FIVE pushups so that put me in the POOR category (sweet), but did 65 crunches and went to 25 inches on the flexibility so I was in the excellent category for those two!! And I was average for heart rate after exercise (which consisted of 3 minutes on the stepper thing). All in all I was pretty good- just need to work on my bench presses.

After I did 12 minutes on the stairmaster and stretched out. I HATE the stairmaster- it's different than the one I used to use at school and even on level 1 I'm DYING. I think it might be broken or something because I can run and do other kinds of cardio for way longer than that.

So I cut my workout short because I was meeting someone for lunch, I sped home, ran in the house, started getting ready to shower WHILE I was on the phone calling her, and she cancelled. So of course I start crying because I'm majorly stressed out right now and had wanted to get in an hour workout and only got in 10 minutes. Ugh. I can't wait until this thesis is over. I know stuff gets in the way sometimes but I'm really big on not cancelling plans. I guess it's because I plan my days out to the T when I'm stressed and when something throws a wrench in it, I freak out. Gotta work on that!!!!

I'm going to drive back to the Y now and finish my workout. :x

Hey Sleepybear!

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello...I love your title. I started laughing when I saw it-Office Space is awsome (we own it).

"It's not that I'm lazy, I just don't care." That happens to be my favorite line. :D The scene where they thrash the printer in the middle of the field is the best.

Good journal!!

Defending a thesis is crazy stuff. My good friend just defended hers Thursday. She was sooo stressed out for like 2 months before hand...she had to write a 200 page paper or something crazy like that. I'm actually taking her out for lunch today to celebrate her finally being done. During her whole journey, I just kept telling her ' once you finish, you never, ever have to do it again!" Just think, after you are done, that's it!! No more!! WHOO HOO!!
Good luck!

You see, you have this mat, with different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.

Ahahah. Love that movie! Thanks for stopping in Fanny! And thanks for the kind words about the thesis... I'm kind of freaking out!!

So yesterday I went back and did 25 minutes on the total body machine and stretched out and whatnot. I felt sooo much better and realized I was just being me- irrational- about getting so upset over something stupid. I think the main thing was that I've become kind of obsessed with working out lately. I'm beginning to think one of the main reasons I've seen such good results (besides my great eating) is that I've been working out more and differently than I have before- so when I don't have time to finish a workout I get upset. I mean, I wouldn't call it a bad thing yet because I'm not taking the working out overboard, but I really am focused on getting in an hour of cardio when before I was content with 30 semi-tough minutes.

Went to see Firewall w/ DBF last night at a dinner theater across the river. Despite the horrible reviews it was actually very entertaining and not predictable (to me). The woman next to us even cried!! And the dinner was awesome- just what I needed. I was planning on moving to phase 2 monday but upped it a little because they had a limited menu.

DBF and I split a cheese and fruit plate, I got a small salad w/ ranch on the side and had the chicken salad plate (which means came w/ a big piece of lettuce and a bunch of fruit but there was little mayo on the salad so that was great) and ONE glass of wine. The fruit was AMAZING. Everything was perfectly ripe and tasted so sweet to me!! I loved it, and didn't feel like I stuffed myself when everyone around us was eating brownie sundaes and fried appetizers! Also, I went to the bathroom and was surprised at how skinny I looked in the mirror! Might have been the shirt I was wearing- when I bought it at Ann Taylor last year I had to move it around a bit to get it to not pull at my "lumps" (and we're not talking my "lovely lady lumps" either  ) and last night it looked almost big on me!!!!

I'm off to work out- I'm thinking 30 min on the bike and 30 on the elliptical, or I might try the stairmaster again- I HATE it but I want to build up my tolerance for it. It's like it challenged me to a battle the first time I went on it for 11 minutes and almost died. So 12 or 13 min on that.

Have a great Sunday! I'm going to PF Chang's w/ a friend tonight- I've never been there but did a search on the forum and looked up their menu- I'll be getting the lettuce cups  That appetizer ALONE has 630 calories in it!! Their main entrees are absurd!

Ummm so PF Chang's had a what? a one and a half HOUR wait on a Sunday night?? Jeez!

So we went to the California Pizza kitchen - I'd never been but they had salads. I got the Thai one (it's new) without the wontons and without the rice noodles. It was amazingly good and I didn't mean to eat the whole thing (mean to bring 1/2 home) but I did it was so delicious! I also didn't eat much today b/c I'm running out of food and haven't had time to run to the store. So I guess you'd call it a "cheat" in that the dressing most likely contained some sugar, and there were a bunch of peanuts in it, so it was by no means low-calorie, but I felt fine about it. I don't feel stuffed and it was a GREAT meal! I won't be going out for a while again anyway! :D

My workout was 1/2 hour on elliptical, 1/2 hour on recumbent bike and stretching/abs. I wanted to get on the stairmaster but they were busy the whole time I was there! Usually I never see ANYONE on them! I'll try again tomorrow after my weights or something.

I will probably be staying up all night trying to finish this thesis so I can send it to my prof tomorrow. Then I can sleep in and blame not driving the hour to school on the weather. :P Wish me luck, I may pop in as a distraction a few times

Hey you!

I've missed alot here... let me see:

1) I love the new title, Office Space is a great movie!

2) OMG I just tried the stairmaster for the first time too, it is SO hard compared to the other cardio machines! 11 mins is great, I got off after 6

3) 60 minute cardio workouts... I wish I could make myself do that. The thing is, I only have so much time to go at lunch to the gym. So it sort of limits my cardio to 30 min... plus I get bored easily and usually want to get the $@#(! out of the gym after half an hour... exception is doing classes, but my schedule rarely permits it. I guess I should either negotiate for a longer lunch break, or start going after work!

4) Good luck with the thesis!!

Thanks Cheryl! :D

WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Just sent my thesis to my advisor!!!! UGH! I stayed up until 4:15am and then got up at 9am and it is now 5 of 2 in the afternoon and it's DONE.

I had to send it through FOUR different COMPRESSED files on my new gmail account I signed up for just to be able to send the thing!

So now I have to learn all the background material and come up with an hour long presentation to present this crap. And do a little more research in the lab tomorrow.

On the SB side of things... since I've gotten up I've had coffee and about 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese  I was wired and stressed and didn't have time to worry about eating. So I'm going to make some egg salad, watch some TV and then go to the Y. I'm awake on caffeine and adrenaline right now, so maybe after I work out I'll be more inclined to nap. Today's my weight circuit day. We'll see how that goes...

DBF is going out drinking to night (it's for charity.. if that makes any sense  ). Thank god because I'll be able to get work done without being distracted!! I'm starting on the presentation/studying tonight! Phew! Only one more week of hell!!!

:D

I'm still up because I was cooking but I'm going to bed soon! I just made Burdle's pizza beans. I was expecting more, but as I sit here and eat them, I'm realizing more and more how much I like them! I've got meals for the week which is great. Tried shredded cheddar on them like she said- it's really good w/ it!

I'm eating some now because my eating was really off today. DBF has high blood pressure (he's freaking out) so he's trying these recipes he got off a high blood pressure site. He was going to make zucchini lasagna with whole wheat noodles and I was going to have some.. then I come home from the gym and the house smells AMAZING and then I find out that he couldn't find ww and only got regular! DAMMIT!

It's even worse because I had no food in the house. So he gave me one of his apples and I had pb w/ it. I know, not much of a dinner. That's why I had some pizza beans and a quiche cup just now. The quiche cups I made this time were my best yet!!! SOOO good.

I used my regular recipe but used mushrooms and onions, sauteed them w/ two cloves minced garlic, added two eggs and then the meat of one turkey sausage. Then I mixed 1/2 cup cottage cheese w/ the remaining 6 eggs in a separate bowl. I put the egg mixture on the bottom (1/2 of it in all), then 1/2 the shredded cheese, then put in the veggie/sausage mix, then used the rest of the cheese, then the egg mixture again and sprinkled w/ pepper and salt. SOOOOO GOOD! I love them!

Oh and my workout was great- over an hour on the weights, 10 min on the total body machine, then 25 min on the treadmill and 15 of it was jogging at 4.5! I haven't jogged or run since I hurt my hip running about a month or so ago!

Ok I really got to get to bed, I'm getting up early to work out and I have to be ready to leave by 9am! Night! :D
