my "feel better, look better" journal...

Postby psg127 » Tue Jan 03, 2006 4:36 pm

I NEED to keep better track of what I'm eating, so here is goes...my food journal and diet journal and exercise journal and anything else i feel like saying...

i need to lose weight by june...im starting a new job and ill need to get work clothes...i refuse to go shopping with the weight ive gained, so itll have to come off soon.

today is my first day back on SB, starting phase 1 (again). so far, so good but its only 9:30am.

im worried about this weekend. im going skiing with a group of friends who have no idea im dieting. we will be staying overnight and im not sure how to handle the deiting situation. they always get food as a group and share it (bagels and poptarts for bfast, sandwich stuff for lunch, and pizza for dinner). well clearly i shouldnt be eating that stuff, so what do i do??? its so hard to PACK meals for phase 1 for a day and a half...and to explain why im not eating with everyone else (im skiing with a bunch of college boys...they would just give me crap for dieting which i dont need right now!!) somehow ill get through...i may have to bring an apple (oh no!) or some ww bread or something to get my through (is that so bad?)

menu today:
b: egg beaters w/ spinach (what else!?!?)
s: cheese and a little diet iced tea
l: a big salad with a lot of stuff on top from whole foods
s: milk and ricotta creme
d: spaghetti sauce with side salad

exercise:
"shopping is my cardio"...hehe...so true!
kickboxing class with my skinny mom

my new years resolutions are:
1. shower as much as possible (multiple times a day if necessary)
2. floss my teeth more!!!
3. call my friends more
4. call my mom less
5. get back in shape!
6. ski a lot!!!!!
7. (obviously) lose weight (but thats what everyone says)
8. smile more

Hi psg! Welcome to the beach!

You stay energized all day long because you love what you do and it is your passion in life!

Or . . . you get plenty of sleep, exercise in the morning before work, take your vitamins, and avoid eating sugar and processed crap, which causes your blood sugar to do nosedives all day long! :)

Just a suggestion on your skiing weekend . . . bring your own food and eat it, no matter whether your friends tease you or not. If you want to get off to a good start, that would be the way to go. Start standing up for what you believe in.

Ideas for P1 foods to bring: tuna and salmon in the pouch; boiled eggs; cheese sticks; nuts; cottage cheese; plain yogurt; pre-cooked chicken strips; etc. Lunch meat would be OK w/o the bread; just roll it up in a lettuce leaf spread w/mustard and/or mayo. No chips. Get some pickles. I would eat lunch meat and cheese again for dinner, or just scrape the topping off the pizza. It's probably not ideal but it'll do in a pinch. Bring some SF hot cocoa, that sounds yummy after a day of skiing!

You'll be proud of yourself for sticking to your new eating plan and it may just become a lifestyle for you and not just another hollow NY resolution! Good luck, I'll be checking on you to see how you come out!

Hi!

I used to have a similar concern. I don't drink and when I was younger I used to get a lot of people doing everything in their power to convince me to. I always took great pride in sticking to my guns. The trick is not to budge an inch. When you say no, make sure you do so in a firm way - I don't mean yell at anyone! I just mean that you should let them know your position in such a way that they realize you are unmoveable (if that's a word!) on the issue. Don't even cast a longing look at their dinner plates - if they sense weakness, they'll bug you all night!

Also, try changing the topic of conversation if they start hassling you and it is probably wise to downplay your standpoint too. Don't tell them you are dieting, just say you are making healthier choices. But make sure you stand strong through all of it!

Good luck!

The sugar free hot chocolate that I know of is made by Swiss Miss.

It is really good, too.

Do you mind me asking where you are from?
A little smile goes a long way... :)

lorka - no need to apologize!!! i understand! its nice to hear from you though!

kpitts - thanks! ill look for the hot cocoa...im originally from denver, colorado, but i go to school at stanford in palo alto (close to san jose!)

im so behind on my journal, so im gonna catch up on the last couple of days that ive missed.

lets see...

SUNDAY

ok so i left CO sunday morning really early and got back to my apartment around 1130. my friends wanted to leave for tahoe at 12, so i had 30 minutes to pack and eat. i had almost no food in my apartment, but i wanted to eat enough to make it through the 5hr drive

bfast: egg beaters w/ roasted peppers and spinach
s: ff sf vanilla latte ( i drink a lot of coffee with my mom!)
l: 2 turkey meatballs, some edamame, a peanut butter brownie thing, a nsa fudgesicle, a spoonfull of ff cream cheese
s: an apple ( i know...not P1, but its an apple...it cant be that bad...especially since im on a SKI trip and need the energy!)
d: salad and chili

ok MONDAY...ski day...i really had to wing it. my friends all eat normal of course and so i couldnt be too picky

b: ff yogurt, banana (again...i know!)
s: cheese stick
l: some turkey slices, some roast beef slices, some edamame i had brought
s: cheese stick, apple (i was hungry and had NOTHING!)
d: pizza (about the equiv of one slice)...i know its bad...i had a HUGE headache and needed to eat something and thats what they picked. they did have a small lame salad bar, but i cant stomach salad when i have a headache...i needed something substantial. oh well. moving on...
dess: the rest of the edamame, some nuts

i dont feel great today. woke up with a migraine, then it went away a little, then it came back, now i just feel post-migraine grogginess...ugh. if i dont feel better i may not make it to the gym. migraines suck by the way.

b: egg beaters w/ spinach
s: mozz cheese and a tomato
l: mashed cauliflower w/ creamcheese, leftover meatballs
s: edamame
d: chicken curry...and a mock cornbread muffin
dess: nut brownie and nsa hot chocolate

eh...not a great day. i got thrown off by the nastiness of the chicken curry, so i had too much dessert.
