Nonalcoholic, festive drinks for NYE?

Postby vickil » Wed Dec 29, 2004 2:41 pm

We are going to celebrate the New Year by staying sober! Does anyone have any ideas on yummy, festive non-alcoholic drinks? I've read through recipelover's thread on hot drinks and they sound yummy. What about any cold drinks? It's not that cold here in Texas right now. I'm thinking of something fruity and fizzy; I'm even willing to put in some fruit juice (since it's New Year's!). Can anybody help me out?

This was a daily dish recipe- I think you could substitue sparkling cider or diet ginger ale? Or increase the tonic?

New Year's Champagne Punch

Makes 18 cups of punch

Ingredients
1 package sugar-free ruby red grapefruit mix and 8 cups cold water
1 teaspoon sugar-free orange drink mix
2 bottles of extra brut, brut, or extra-dry champagne
1 liter club soda

Instructions
Following the directions on the package, combine 8 cups of water with the appropriate amount of sugar-free ruby red grapefruit mix. Add all the other ingredients except champagne. Chill well. Pour into punch bowl. Add champagne.

My sisters favorite punch is 2 bottles of white cran juice(they make a light now?), 2 bottle ginger ale (use diet) and sherbert (do they make sugar free?). It's really yummy her way, I would think the modifications would work and be yummy-

Good luck- maybe someone else has some great ideas!

Thanks so much, Janet! Is the grapefruit and orange drink mix like a packet of Kool-Aid or something? Maybe Crystal Light?

It's made by Crystal Light - ours is found next to the Kool Aid at the grocery store.

I discovered a yummy drink the other night. I put some crushed ice, milk and sf instant coffee mix (Maxwell House suisse mocha and french vanilla flavors) and mixed it all together in my magic bullet (little blender) and it tasted a bit like a (Tim Hortons) iced cappacino (for all you Canadians)lol. It was super yummy and it got me thinking about new years and what it would taste like with a shot of vodka........I haven't tried it but my guess would be awesome!!

Happy New Year!!

But I'd watch out for transfats and starches in those flavored coffees. Most of them aren't that SB friendly.
