Postby caramia2366 » Sun Jan 09, 2005 11:39 am

Does this mean 1/2 packet, 1/2 tsp of sweetener...- what? I want to make the bean brownie. Thanks!

The bean cake is excellent!!! It's cups not packets with regards to Splenda. I use 1/2 cup when I make it.

Okay sorry for any confusion... AS for whether sugar free, fat free pudding is allowed on Phase 1 I don't really have an answer. It was listed as a receipe for phase 1 when I first started the diet last year. I ate it on phase 1, lost the first 20 lbs. I have just restarted up post holidays to continue on with the weight loss I wanted..

As for the Chocolate Bean Brownies... yes they are made with beans!! My whole family loves them!! remember they are a very dense, moist food.. if you are expecting a lighter brownie consistency you won't find it here.. It's a very chocolately dense yummy food, a cross between fudge and brownie.. We have found that the small white beans make for a little less after taste if you don't like the taste of black beans. Took it to work for one of my gluten intolerant friends and now his famiily makes them regularly.

I also have a receipe for an almond pound cake that is flourless for phase 1 but hesitate to post it.. I sometimes feel people are out there just to nick pick others suggestions or ideas.. Its made with nut meal so would go for your nut allotment for the day plus the snack I believe. As the consistency of this one is very grainy some may feel its not really a pound cake.

Cool whip question.... not the aersol can style.. its in the frozen food section called whipped topping... cool whip happens to be a brand name..

Sorry about that... yes it's Cups on the sweetner... I must know this receipe by heart, never realized that it was missing out of mine in the SBD cookbook I have complied..

Ev. I for one would love this recipe. Don't worry about people nit-picking. Someone's always going to comment on things. That's what makes discussion boards so interesting:) I'd love to have you share your recipes. I need some inspiration!

No, Cool Whip is the whipped cream in a tub you find in the freezer section. Make sure you buy the Cool Whip "Free". (It now has a "South Beach Approved" label on the package.)

The brownie recipe is going to be made tonight.

Ev, I make an almond flour pound cake too and I love it. Mine calls for some lemon extract and I really like that in there. In fact I make it for my bil whenever he comes here and he always takes whatever is left home with him.

Yes indeed these recipes with beans are VERY VERY GOOD!!!

For the Aussie girl.....Cool Whip is like canned whipped cream except it's in a plastic container and you scoop it out with a spoon instead of squirting it out like in a can.

ok, no offense to everyone that likes the bean brownies but I made them tonight and I taste the Beans NOT the chocolate. Maybe if I put a big mound of vanilla ice cream, they would taste better. I must be a minority but I really like the ricotta desserts too!

Maybe you can try cutting back the beans a bit? Or add more chocolate!

I have never seen sugar free chocolate chips anywhere!!

Would you mind posting this? I love using ground nuts in baking and, since my entire family is unable to eat any wheat flour, something like this would be a great addition for us. TIA!
