A bit weak from phase 1

Postby SF girl » Fri Nov 12, 2004 12:58 pm

Hey Everybody,

I´m new to this diet and now on day 3 of P1. Yet I am finding that I´m a bit weak with slight headaches, probably due to a lack of carbs, which my body is very used to.

Any suggestions? How did you combat the feeling of weakness? How about beating those devlish moments of temptation?

HELP!!! For I really am determined to lose the weight this time. :)
This time is for real......

My suggestion - EAT CARBS!

If you drink your two cups of milk, eat lots of veggies and eat beans, you should have no trouble keeping your carb intake up.

Chili, bean salad or hummus is the easiest way to get good carbs into your system. You can also add a glass of V8 each day to up your intake.

Don't be afraid of eating carbs - just not white, processed, sugar filled ones...

Good Luck!

SF Girl,
When you say carbs, I'm sure you mean the sugary and starchy ones that we all get so used to having. Beans will help a lot--a nice bowl of chili will make you feel so much better. Dairy helps too. Make sure you are eating enough of the allowed foods to not be hungry. To combat those cravings when you want something sweet, SF jello or diet hot chocolate worked wonders for me. Good luck!

I am on Day 3 of Phase I. I feel so funky today! Grumpy, tired, headache, weak. Thanks for chili tips. I think I'll change the menu for tonight to chili. Come to think of it, I have been eating only dairy, meat, some oils, and veggies. The menus in the book don't seem to include beans very much, so that has contributed to my confusion. Thank goodness for this forum or my co-workers and husband might kill me!

Just wondering do you mean you drink the no sugar added hot chocolate or some sugar free brand. I have not been able to find a sugar free brand and when I read the label for the no sugar added it had quite a few carbs and sugar. :?:

Phase 1 not so bad

Postby rexy » Fri Jan 07, 2005 2:12 pm

I am on day 5 of P1 and I have been eating tons of salades with a lot of different veggies in them. 3 different kinds of lettuce, purple cabbage, tomatoes and sometimes even a bit of part skim grated mozzarella cheese. I add chicken if it's for supper.

I don't find myself hungry enough to eat all that they list in the meal plans in the book, so I just pick and choose what I am hungry for.

My best advice at this point in time is make yourself wholesome salades and if you want something a little extra add some chicken or a can of tuna.

I am on day 5 of Phase 1. I have had headaches too occassionally. Follow the boards suggests and have some beans. They helped me also!

Also, are you having any caffenine? I was a big pop drinker and I haven't had any all week. When I start getting a headache sometimes it is because of a lack of caffenine. I have a hot cup of decaffenated tea and the helps too.

P1 was miserable for me. I ended up moving to P2 early because I was sick to my stomach, dizzy (omg was I dizzy), etc. I think part of it was that I wasn't eating enough, so make sure you're getting enough. And if you're not having cravings, you could start to ease into P2 a bit early.

For the ladies, I also have my period during day 3/day 4 of ph. 1. I think the combination of the diet and that is increasing headache's, etc. Maybe it's better to start the diet when you are not on your period? Who knows..just a thought. Anyone else find that happened too? I did have some beans last night and drank 2 cups of choco milk (with the delightful recipe for chocolate syrup I found on the forum). I swear it did help somewhat. I felt much better afterwards. I still woke up this morning with a pounding headache, but do not feel as weak and wiped out today (day 4). I find it really amazing that this diet has so much affect on the body, aside from weight.

headaches

Postby supernurse » Sun Jan 09, 2005 11:16 pm

Hi Im new too. And am experiencing daily migraines as well. mostly due to caffeine withdrawal as I was totally addicted to Pepsi. None now for 3 days. I HAVE to start my day with 2 Tylenol #1's before i can even think about functioning. Before i did this I had headaches from morning till night and then some. its really made a difference, just that one dose of Tylenol when I first get up.
good luck

I too have felt weaker but I also have more energy...I know its a oxymoron but its true

For me I just look at my belly and that is enough to keep me motivated.

Weak - are beans the answer?

Postby newbies2005 » Thu Feb 03, 2005 1:45 pm

I'm on day 4 of Phase one and I still have a pounding headache. I'm following the meal plan by the book but I need something to kick up my energy level a bit. The book says we are allowed veggies etc - is there a limit on how much of these we can have? There aren't any specs on how many pieces of celery/cucumber. Does anyone know?
