Jellied pigs feet were a delicacy in my mother's Polish kitchen. I, however, got the willies just looking at them. Really gross looking stuff. I will have to find out if less desirable parts are included in the hog share.

They sliced mine right between the oi and the nk. :P Came with everything you see at the fair.
I have not had a glass of wine or cocktail since JULY 22. And I've been saying I was going to clean out the fridge for almost that long too.
I'm going to put the bottle of Gavi in there AFTER I clean it out. (just like I was going to open the Zabars box after I cleaned it out. But this time I really mean it)
The sinus headache either came north from Mike's head or South from Chris's or both.
My recipe: 3 advil, 1 goody powder, 1 claritin, iced coffee, hot washcloth, repeat.
If I took the claritin Regularly like you're supposed to, it might help.

What's goody powder? I've been taking claritin every day since about May and I still get headaches, but at least no raging sinus infections.

Chris- It's redneck aspirin. Aspirin, tylenol, and caffeine. It comes in a little folded paper and you pour it on your tongue and try Really Hard not to inhale before you wash it down. 9 out of 10 doctors surveyed say "Dude, don't take those, they'll rot your stomach lining." But they work really fast. Taste bad too. :D

b-taco soup w/ fage
L-spinach thing, half a huge tomato, slice of bacon
s-iced skim latte
S-Hamburger on rye w/ fontina, lettuce, onion, mayo and about a cup and a half of roasted broccoli
s-almonds, more than a serving but less than two servings.
bedtime-two chocolate squares.

You go, girl! Almond portions under control - less than 2 servings is worthy of an olympic medal!!!

Someone needs to make really good low fat cheese, don't you think? I seriously need a TJoe's trip just for cheese because I keep sneaking real cheese and that's not a good thing. All I'm asking for is flavor, some creaminess, and a texture that doesn't resemble very old wax.

Wednesday weigh-in 216.
Only one ice dream all week :D .
One chocolate covered pecan fiasco  .
One almond blow out  .
No alcohol. That right there is why it's not 218 again.
Still didn't clean the fridge. Not all the way.
Chris is making me think about the fact that most of the cheese I eat is Full Fat. That's probably not going to change much. The amount of cheese I eat has definitely decreased. A lot of it just wandered off with the bread. Would I trade the blue cheese on my salad for a glass of wine :?: Maybe. For a martini :?: :?: Now I'm paying attention.

b-spinach thingie, sinus drugs, extra coffee (still drinking the accidental half-and-half in my coffee)
L-salmon pattie and broccoli
pre-pool-a little milk, half a slice of bacon and advil (all the Olympians do this before practice-Phelps has two slices and a bong hit)
<out of the pool and straight into a ravenous rampage...>
Ice Dream on the way home (self-fulfilling prophecy, if you type it you will eat it)
Hamburger pattie and about a cup and a half of broccoli for supper
And then.
That's right:
I polished off the almonds I opened yesterday. The ones I ate less than two servings of. I just hope H ate a few before I got home. Because if he didn't it means I ate over 4 servings and am a certified Hopeless Case. I wonder if this can was printed before the 20% error was discovered. I wonder if grocery stores have watch lists and if so how do I get onto the "do not sell Blue Diamond Salt and Vinegar Almonds to this person" bulletin board in the break room?
Obviously, by then I was finished.
Except for the two chocolate squares and a few more advil.

Thinking about some aleve myself right about now. Kayaking = back cramping and pain. Probably not from the paddling, since my shoulders and neck are OK, but I think from the sitting in that awful position for an hour. The joys of old cranky bodies! What are we to do with ourselves, Bethy??

I'd give up the blue cheese for wine in a heartbeat. The question is, would you give up almonds for martinis? I will give up Klondikes for Doves when fall/winter comes.

Ha! If I'd seen that question Before I ate all the almonds it would have been a real Sophie's Choice situation and I'd probably be up all night trying to choose and thinking about what a dark and twisty genius you are for thinking it up. But now I'm pretty sure Martini is the right answer. Martinis have built-in portion control. If I conked out after three servings of almonds I'd be doing allright. Plus, they help with the cranky old body problem. Groan.

Ah, but the real question is would you give up wine for martinis? THAT is a tragic question.......

L-fat hebrew natl frankenfurter and pimento cheese on a wasa
s-ice dream
S-taco soup and fage, salad w/ blue cheese oil and vinegar
D-2 chocolate squares

"Tell me what you eat and I'll tell you who you are." Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin. I'm a spinach thing. I want to be crusty bread and butter.

Bethy, I think the problem is that we're all crusty bread and butter really needing to be a spinach thing.

A cool, rainy day: perfect Krispy Kreme weather. I fear I may do some recreational eating if it doesn't stop raining. Or if it stops raining but remains cloudy. Or if the sun comes out but I'm still me. Nothing says cozy like a colander of popcorn and a new stack of library books.

b-spinach thing (3 krispy kremes fortunately not available. not even camel-filled.)
L-taco soup and fage (strategy: stay full and don't open any cabinets) Naturellement, the top book in the pile was a novel about food (and franco-pompo-snobimatude- they go together like baguettes and butter). Heureusement, there's no Blanquette de veau or Millefeuilles to be had around here. Although I could make some oatmeal cookies.
s-PB on a wasa (plank). The slope starts here.
s-almonds. about two servings
S-a salmon pattie, another spinach thing, another wasa with pimento cheese
two chocolate squares.

OMG I have to comment on the jellied pig's feet. Feet just AREN'T meat! Gross gross gross!! My mom had some Chinese friends who ate chicken feet which is just as bad. There isn't any MEAT on the feet!! Plus those things scratch and muck around in dirt and poop and whatever.... I don't think you could ever wash them enough to get it all off - especially between their little toes!!! It's sooooo unnatural!!

excuse me while I go hurl
