Nuts Gotta Go!

Postby Mojo Jojo » Thu Apr 26, 2012 5:17 pm

I've been having too much trouble moderating my intake of nuts. Its been going on for far too long and I think I've been in denial about how bad its been. I think I had nearly a pound of cashews yesterday. They were in a 2 pound container and I had about half a pound left. I poured them out this morning before making my oats and went to the store and bought some flaxseed meal to use instead. It looks like I can have about 4 tbs a day so I'll have 2 in my oats and then some in either my yogurt or ricotta.

I feel your pain Mojo(hug). I've thrown away so many cans of nuts  Great job doing that and realising that things were out of control (bravo). Now i go to the store and buy just 1 small bag of the "Nice" cashews when i want some nuts. That's the only brand(size of bag) i found that keep me in allowance for the day.I can't have more than one bag in the house though cause I'd eat them

I love nuts and can go out of control with them very easily. So I buy nuts that I like, but not my very very favorites (cashews and pistachios). I usually buy almonds and almost love them, but somehow can put the breaks on with them a little more easily. Walnuts I can take or leave, so sometimes I buy them or peanuts or mixed nuts. I try NOT to sit down with a whole package of nuts. To prevent this, I repackage them in 1/4 cup servings in snack-sized zip top bags as soon as I get home from the store with them. Sometimes, I'll go overboard and eat two of them, but usually stop there because having those empty bags kind of embarrasses me.

Ive been in the same boat! Ive loved the nuts and the all natural pnut butter on this diet. They are one of the items we get that doesnt "taste" so much like "diet food". They are on of my favorites on the diet.... Ive done really well in my weight loss but Ive noticed a stall out for a good month or so with no to very little loss. I would over do it also with the nuts and pnut butter....I think if you are gonna cheat at all to have extra in a certain area of diet safe food is not too big a deal. BUT, I was cheatin too much with it. So, the last week or so Ive not bought anymore when I ran out and I have seen a good loss this week. Probably 4-5 pounds in a week or two. So, I feel ya and can totally relate... Now, I have been cheating more in the breads and starches a little I need to watch that area too..... I think the simple fact of me doing with out the nuts and p nut butter for a week or two and seeing the BIG jump in my loss again has showed me just how much it makes a difference with something so calorie dense as the nuts. So I deffinately needed to see the results of doing without to be a believer. :O)
