Hi Theresa - so glad you're feeling good! I'm feeling better than last time, although slightly more obsessed with food this time. The headache is kind of looming in the background and not quite here yet. Hopefully it will stay that way. I did eat 2 grapes that fell off the kids' breakfast plates without even thinking about it - oops. Maybe the tiny bit of sugar is holding off the SB flu. Hopefully in another day or two I'll start to notice a decrease in my general puffiness. Buh bye to puffy!

Winding down day 3. I managed to do pretty well eating out tonight. Special occasion for the kids, and they chose the local Mexican restaurant. I ate the Fajita salad and left the tortillas/chips alone. All in all it seemed to be a pretty good mix of mostly veg/lettuce and some lean meat with good flavorings. I'm guessing it wasn't perfectly on plan, but better than the alternative.

I hope everyone else has made it through day 3!

Hey everyone, how are you doing?
I am loving this diet, felt a little bit hungry today but that is probably because I ate all my meals earlier than I am used to.
How is everyone's weight loss doing? I've lost 8.2lbs so far, but then again I am pretty big
Hope everyone is keeping strong :D

I am wondering how I'm going to get through the weekend without eating all the things my kids eat. They will be home in 30 minutes... I need to mentally figure it out asap! :D I did make a deelish curry chicken salad today. Its a salad that our Whole Foods makes, and I love it! There is no way I'm paying what Whole Foods wants for it, so my husband did some test batches and figured out how to make it. Now we make it ourselves! Yumm! I had to leave a few things out this time, but will add them back in when I'm in a different phase.

- roast chicken breasts, cool, then cut up in bite sized pieces
- finely chopped green onion (as much as you'd like)
- mayo (went easy due to SBD)
- Major Grey's chutney (also not allowed on SBD, so I skipped it this time)
- curry powder (we make our own blend)
- raisins or dried currents (left them out this time too)
- pine nuts (not too many)
- salt n pepper

Hi newdawn4uk. Welcome! I think this is day 5 for me... I'm starting to lose track (that's a good thing!). I know SBD must be working because I lost my coffee 4 times today. I just found my 1/2 full cup out in the garage (from hours and hours ago). How did it get out there? Normally, I'm DYING for my coffee and dont do much of anything until I consume my allotted dose. Having dinner at the neighbors tonight - hopefully I'll be able to stay on plan. Last night we were at other neighbors for dinner. I didnt do TOO badly. Had Thai curry - lots of veg and some chicken. Skipped the rice, but did have a glass of wine. Ce la vie. I must live a little.

How's everyone else doing? Have a great day!

Hi everyone, I started SBD last Monday. I cannot believe I did so well this weekend. I am having grilled chicken for dinner along with a bean salad I made.
I cannot beloeve how great I am feeling, after just 6 days. I had a pair of pants I tried on last Sunday, could not button or zip themm this morning I was able to do both.
My ultimate goal is to lose 50 pounds, I really feel like I can do this.
Good luck everyone in the upcoming week!

Ugh. Day 6. I was doing really well all day - except I think I didnt eat enough (I wasnt really very hungry). Now I'm DYING for a big sandwich (the bread) and ice cream. I will not get healthy on bacon and eggs, but that was my compromise and what I just made myself to eat. Thank GOODNESS for Good Earth tea. I sure hope it is on the plan. It seems sweet, but is really just cinnamon tasting. I will last until bedtime and tomorrow will be a better day.

Hope you all are still doing well!

Tulips, I think once you get past that first week you will be fine.
I cannot believe I actually went 7 days without eating a piece of bread, a french fry or drinking a soda. I didn't even miss them which is probably even more surprising.
I am actually looking forward to stepping on the scale next Monday morning.
Food is all planned for the day, so I am counting on a good one!

Hi Angie - welcome! I think it was around day 3 that I started feeling more energy rather than less (I even forgot to drink my coffee!). Hang in there!

Day 7 for me today. I had a bit of a setback. My 7 year old made dinner tonight and was so proud of herself, and I was really proud of her too. I didn't have the heart not to eat it. I did eat mostly salad (that I fixed), but she made tomato soup (from scratch) with pasta in it and some garlic cheese bread. I tried to only eat the soupy broth (in small quantity) without pasta and a only a couple bites of the bread. Tomorrow is another day.

Hi, Day 3, finally figured out how to use forum, I dont cook or know much about lots of foods, so Im going to follow plan to the letter and seeh if I can do the two weeks. The "recipes" are pretty simple enough for me, but the planning takes more time than I thought. I am using a book I bought off ebay and I think it may be out of date because it soulns like folks are eating a wider variety than listed in the book, even on phase 1. I am tired and a little headachy, is that the South Beach Diet Flu? I do think its from cutting out all caffeine so drastically, but I do feel better knowing its not just me (not that I want anyone to have a headache and be sleepy) and will probably pass. Really need to do this, and as I work my way through the diet and forum, find it very encouraging!

It does sound like you're probably not including enough carbs. They added milk and yogurt to p1 in 2004 and started encouraging beans/legumes around that time as well. So it's probably not a good idea to follow those exact meal plans anymore. If you check out the meal templates in the FAQ, those are updated, and you should be able to add foods to what's in the book and be more on track with the current plan, as well as feeling better.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.
