blood pressure

Postby oceanarrow » Wed Feb 08, 2012 5:21 pm

I have been on Atkins years ago, worked well, but hard to stay on.I weighed 250lbs. when I started South Beach 10 days ago.I am in fairly good health and have a lot of muscle, people say I carry the weight good.Blood pressure started to go up 160/86,never had that problem before.57 yeras old, time to get serious.I don't know how much I lost, but my b/p came down to 135/74,128/68 in 10 days.I thought the monitor was defective.all heart burn stopped and I don't feel as stiff as last week.could this be possible?does anyone know if this is from better blood chemistry, some feed back woluld be appreciated, thanks

I've never heard of blood pressure improving so rapidly, but that isn't to say it isn't possible. This is a very healthy way of eating when done properly. I know that my acid reflux, along with a host of other annoying health issues that I used to have, went away when I started SB. It took me a while to realize the changes, but they coincided perfectly with changing my eating.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

SB since Nov '03
Goal: major weight loss (50+ lbs) & good health
Reached Jan '05!

Dr just told me I have Diabetes. I'm 45. When Iwas 37 I had quintuple bypass surgery and have been on BP meds ever since.
I'm on day 3 and my BP was 129/77 this morning. Not ever close to what it was 2 weeks ago at docs office.
