hey Judi-

I saw your post in my journal-I have popped in a few times in the last few days-just not posted anything...oh my...is this board hopping now. I am not sure I can keep up! So you were missing your son's birthday when I was trying to get myself organized to prep for DD's next birthday. The 21st! Yikes...It is in June. I have been wanting to turn the bedroom my mom used into a craft room and this weekend it just felt right to go in and just do it. Now I have two tables in there and all the photos and what not-Next task is to organize them. (I quit writing in DD's baby book when she was 6 weeks old...so I am going to make a scrap book for her...in my defense...she still does not sleep through the night.)

In any case-the room is away from the kitchen-so hopefully I will keep the snacking to a minimum. If the hands are busy...they don't reach for food!

Take care,
Mary Ann

I had to laugh at this one Judi! What a way to celebrate... Hope Michael is enjoying his Bday in Canada... it's FUN here! If I could ship my 2 off somewhere right about now, I would!!

I am forgetting Everything. Here's what I remember about skin epithelial tissue: in the dermis, the stratified squamous cells look square and then there's that red layer the stratum something, then the epidermis where nothing is happening and the cells get wider and flatter until they flake off the top. All the stuff's in the dermis, the sebaceous glands, the sweat glands which are called...., the vascularization, the Arrector Pili muscles! I'll never forget those. Oh! the papillary layer, where is that, must be on top of the dermis. I never learned much about skin. Epithelia-wise I was more into the simple columnar. I went back to school as an adult, took pre-med stuff and genetics (which is why I went back in the first place, some old professor told me when I was 18 that I might want to take genetics and I kept thinking about it for years). I liked it all except physics. Nailed the MCAT, accepted at my state med school and two others, but my husband had an accident and I had two children. So I went back to my local college became a TA in anatomy and did genetics and DROPPED OUT after 2 years and all my course work, but before I finished my thesis. We used to have a cartoon on the wall in my lab that had a cartoon of an angry man and the words "the grad school drop-out: the bitterest person in the world". I'm not bitter at all, just unemployable    I did learn that mice do not make good research animals for testing human skin preparations. sigh. teach me something....

OK, quick update.

Managed this morning to get DS's passport application and parental consent written/fillied out, notarized, have my ex sign and get it notarized and Fedex to Canada so that he can get it tomorrow, apply for a valid passport on Thur and come HOME on Friday! Phewww. By the time I started work I was ready to go home and rest. (Made it home by 8:30 PM, lol)

Food was OK yesterday although last night I had too much of something, can't recall what. Today I worked, so it's always easier for me, and kept to the plan.

Wt is stuck again- now at 167, UP one lb from before (but down 2 from after the before, if that makes sense). Trying to eat a lot of fiber to move the weight along and out (read btw the lines here).

Been all over the board, having fun reading the sparring among the entertainers we have here, haha, long time didn't have so much action!

MaryAnn, you got my heartfelt respect for fixing that extra room. I am such a lazy bum, (Procasta Nation member), I only plan things, never do it all the way. But still, I feel so busy, and can't explain. Not sure if I do more than I think I do, or I just get tired before I actually start doing something. In either case, good for you! Put together that book for DD, it's such a great thing to have! My mom just got me an old picture, I must be maybe 3 years old, boy, it's so cute! I may just scan it and put it here for kicks (later, first must procasta nate....)

Looking forward to more from all. Anyone wants to buy a used scale? Otherwise, I may have to BREAK the darn thing.

!!! Don't you have a balance beam scale in your office??? I have always wanted one of those. If I had one, I would weigh myself Constantly. Gosh, I should have gotten one. Would have been a wise investment.

Just listened to Michael's EP - TWICE. The young man has some talent! Great balance to his vocals and his instrument - restraining and controlling them both is a discipline very few 20-somethings can exert, let alone one who is still honing the craft. And the variety of styles (Do I understand it corectly that he wrote all these?) and technical skills is very impressive. I wish him terrific luck - he'll need it in this world and that industry - and much success.

Thanks for sharing.

So glad you got the passport issue worked out Judi. It's such a pain eh? We're neighbours... why do they make it so difficult to visit.

Don't worry about the scale, just stay beachy and active and it's all good ... that's what I keep telling myself. Some days it works.

Mike- I am so glad you liked his music! You can only imagine how proud of him I am, as a mother and as an ex musician with a trained ear. And I love his lyrics- some of it is pure poetry. It's not an easy road, but if anyone has a chance, he does. He writes w so much ease, he can make it. I am just trying to give him the tools.

Lisa- passport saga is not over. Now, after sending by fedex what they asked for, they took it to the US consulate. The consulate was closed at 2PM even though the website said they close at 4PM. Someone came down and gave them a whole new runaroudn to produce- notarized passports by my ex and myself, in color; the same forms but one for each of us; a new letter to say my mother can act as guardian to help him apply for the passport. Since his flight is Fri, they said to scan it. I am furious. The first person was incompetent, or, the second one is just trying to make us sweat for it. I asked that they get the names of both. Once this is all over, I will go and hunt them down and get them fired I hope for doing all this crazy and contradictory stuff. What a bunch of unprofessional people! He is a US citizen, and I want to see them stop him from coming back home on his flight. This won't go down without feedback from me. They ruined my day yesterday (first papers); today (found out new demands) and tomorrow, when I have to run to get the notarizations. Hate these people. Stupidity rules. Too bad you are on the Canadian side- I am sure you would cut through the BS red tape with ease. And yes, we are neighbors, and Canada doesn't even require a passport from the US, so why is the US so crazy with US citizends?..He does have a recent passport that just expired on March 28 of THIS year, what is their problem?.....OK, just venting. Pheww. Starting to feel a slight relief.

Will update you w the rest.

How frustrating, Judi! Like you can just drop everything and run out and get everything notarized and Fedex'd. Maybe a phone call to your senator's office....?? All this drama for a passport that expired two weeks ago is ridiculous. Like he's a threat to anyone - what's he going to do, hit someone with his guitar??

Well, it WILL get to the Senator's office. Ridiculous. How does one find out who their Senator is? (Chuck Shumer? Gillebrand? are those the ones to complain to?)
Gotta run, bank opening soon, need to get 15 new papers notarized.

Good lord. Ya know, they just started this passport thing to Canada just a couple/few years ago. Wonder what we ever did before then when we came and went freely. I'm racking my brain trying to remember the newspaper headlines that started "Terrorist from Cananda...." or the other way around. Yeah, because Canada is our problem... (dripping sarcasm).  :!:

Double points for you today, just on principle.

Well, all papers were done, and notarized (6 of them). Scanned (wasn't easy) and emailed. Now they are having trouble printing them there, on their end, haha.

DS (Michael) sent an instruction manual how to fill out each point, down to the date. He knows that grown ups are not that bright.
He signed it "Fugitive Michael".

I asked what he is willing to do for us to get him back into the US. He will have to behave for a while.

Mike- if he broke into song, it would probably be his own, the one called "Wreck like me".

I do deserve the double points. I am exhausted and the day has not even started yet. Phewwww.....

Can he make his way to Manitoba? I understand you can practically WALK into North Dakota from there quite by accident. Just tell him to look out for the bears and the bear hunters.
