Wow Margot! you made my day by posting here! I am sorry about your health issues though, I hope you can figure it out.
I restarted trying to lose weight last week. I started at 151lb and now I am at 148, my very starting point when I did SB in 2009, unbelievable!
Anyway, this time I am trying a new strategy: an armband that measures your calorie burn and thanks to a journal I calculate how much I eat and by having a balance of -500 cals/day you should lose 1lb/week. My idea is to focus on SB food like a phase 2 plan but less strict and it is working really well for me. I am eating pretty healthy, and I don't feel hungry. I have not exercised much and still managed to have a deficit of 500-900cals/day last week. I guess that is the only advantage of being fat: you burn more calories as you move all that bulk

Anyway, I hope you decide to start again, hopefully with your DH too and we can motivate each other. I will be thinking of you and sending you good vibes for a complete recovery of that stubborn foot and for no more pain!

Take care!

Hey!!!
Are you still here?? I posted last night and it is not here! I said I sucked into and infomercial and bought Kettlebells! They don't look too hard on my foot!! LOL! Anyway, I am not eating terribly...my husband is being more careful than I am. I am never THAT BAD; I just don't lose weight anymore, I swear. Probably from sitting all these months. We've tried to really reduce the gluten from our diets as well. I've read a lot about it causing inflammation, so my DH is all over that one- that makes PH 1 a no brainer. Think about that!!!

The armband thingy is pretty expensive, AND you have to pay a monthly subscription to access you data. For that same reason I didn't buy it 2 years ago but I don't know why I decided to give it a try now. I paid close to $200 for it, including a 12 month subscription. I got it from Costco. I still don't know if I would openly recommend it, it is still a lot of work entering everything you eat to calculate calories in and it calculates calories burned by itself, so at the end you get your daily calorie balance. It works for me, I am happy with it and I think I will get my money worth, but I can easily understand that it would not work for everyone. You can have a look at bodymedia.com if you are interested. Tell me more about your Kettleball workout!

I would love to know how many calories I REALLY eat in a day. I can't imagine. I do eat a TON of vegetable though. I just need to MOVE MOVE MOVE....that package needs to come. Yesterday I did my Pilates bands. That felt good.

My husband really wants me to start in earnest so I will be happy. I always tell him really never veer far from the Beach so I don't know what the prob is. Sitting here though; I can sort of see it. Still in my jammies, working on a photoshop project I thought I would work on for a half hour and get up...Uh huh...that was 5 hours ago and I haven't eaten a thing. I eat more on the beach- well at least designated times. I just got a new crock pot; I want to really get cooking. If I could only get up. Oooh, later, I have to post the stuffed pepper recipe I made on Saturday. K I L L E R!!! Really good!!!
I did weigh myself.................141.5! That's up 5 more pounds since 10 days ago! Just call me pudgy girl. What did you COOK????

I want that recipe!!!! please! yum!
Bad news on my side: I lost my job :( It happened yesterday and I still need to figure out a lot of stuff. But I am ok, not very hungry but eating well so far. I guess I will have more time to cook now, although I also want to work hard to figure out my future. I was not happy where I worked so this is a new opportunity to find something I will really like, I just hope it doesn't take too long so I can keep going. I will also start exercising because I will need that boost!
I hope you can start moving more with all your health issues, take it easy but do as much (or as little) as you can, whatever your body can take, but try to motivate yourself and you will see that everyday you will be able to feel a little bit better.
All the best!

Liebly, Maralian- I was happy to see this thread alive again. Glad you are both doing well. Liebly, if you feel bad, just look at your SW and you are STILL way ahead. So keep up the good work. Kettleballs can be fun.

Maralian, you seem to be doing great. I am happy.

Any word of Suzzi? Miss her.

Good Morning everyone! I am fairly new to this site but not SB. I do love their program and still am struggling to loose 5lbs. I dont know why it is so hard for me. I did have a hysterectomy 12-5-12 but was released a month later to run. I also workout with Kettlebells 4-6 times a week. I love it. I have the Kettleworxs set and also Sarah Luries DVD. They really are great workout with great results in a short time. I also run 4 miles just about every morning prior to work but I still can not loose the 5 stubborn pounds but I am not giving up.

I have the first South Beach Diet book and was wondering if it is different from the second one Supercharge?

Hi Lisa

I am not an expert, but I can see two possibilities. With that much exercise, perhaps you eat more than you can burn? This also is a function of your age which effects your metabolism, how much you burn off from what you take in. Also, you may be close to or at your optimal weight, at which point it's hard to lose more. 5 lbs are not that much extra weight. And, after a hysterectomy, there may be some hormonal issues changing your metabolism.

While SB is not a calorie counting diet, it does have suggested portion sizes - used to be some place in the FAQ section, try to find it.

Re Supercharged, I haven't read it, but it supposedly steps up the exercise portion, which you are already doing anyway. I don't think it's essentially different. According to one of the old mods, it was just a new way to sell books for Dr A. I tend to agree. However, these are my own opinions, FWIW.

Good luck!

Good Morning! Thank you jdherm for the advise. I think it is a combination of everything you suggested. For breakfast I have 1 egg and 1/2 cup fiberone cereal with blueberries and no milk - Lunch I have a salad let, tom, cucumber and fat free feta cheese with olive oil. I rarely snack during the day at work but if I did it would be fiberone yogurt 4 0z or celery with hummus and then my dinner is usally grilled meat with spinach or brussel sprouts and sometime but not all the times i may have 2 grilled meats and for snack it is either pistachio nuts or plain ff popcorn.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hey Lisa,
I hope you are still lurking. I bought Kettleworkx too; but pulled my Achilles Tendon big time and took a looooooong time off. When I do it, I like it a lot; but I haven't delved into enough to see ANY results; if that tells you anything. I need to get my muscles toned and QUICK like 4 weeks- so what would you suggest out of the workouts- I have them all? I have a BAD left foot...no lunging, and my balance is terrible.

In other news my Buddies....I got something recently, you MUST GET! No, I don't sell them; but I am IN LOVE!

Good Morning Liebly! I am still here. Sorry to hear about your Achilles Tendon. Did you have to have surgery? I started off by doing week 1 for each DVD, core, transformation and cardio and would rotatoe those. Then the 2nd week I went to week 2. I would try to do them everynight but there were times I was unable to but I do them at least 5 times a week. I havent really done the 10 minute abs yet but need to. I love that little gaget. I may have to get that. Have you done a sweet potatoe in that? Does it also come with a recipes?
Have you made the zucchinni speghatti and how was it?

Well I have to get ready to do my morning run before going to work.

Have a great day.
