I'm starting my journey this Sunday and can use a SB buddy

Postby ivit123 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 12:46 am

Hi, After doing multiple rounds of HCG, I came to realize I can't maintain a healthy lifestyle that way; obsessing everyday if you are going to having a gain and living off no carbs. SB seems much more managable. I have 12-15 pounds to lose. My issue is not really liking to eat eggs/omlettes everyday for breakfast. I can't do it. Any suggestions what I can have? I love FF greek yogurt with truvia and saw a SB recipe for P1 granola that would be great and saw another recipe for pb muffins that too would be great. I welcome anyone's input of what you eat for meals and snacks

Welcome! A good place to start is the phase 1 FAQ page. There are links to the phase 1 "foods to enjoy" list there, and the "how to adapt your meal plan" template. You don't have to eat any eggs ever, if you don't want to. Any lean protein at breakfast is fine.

Have a look at the two links I mentioned. Although yogurt is a dairy food, Greek yogurt has more protein than most and might be OK, especially with nuts. Officially, you should be having a protein food, though (meat, meat substitutes, or cheese). And don't forget, you should also be having at least 1/2 cup of vegetables with breakfast.

I also have a problem eating eggs every morning for breakfast.
I ate whole grain toast even in Phase 1 and still lost weight.
Just be sure to limit it to 2 slices once a day. Get
one that is only 40 calories a slice.

P1 is for breaking the bad carb craving cycle, so including off plan foods like toast interferes with that. It's not really about weight loss. And you still need some kind of protein at breakfast in p2, so just toast is not an appropriate breakfast. Usually 1 slice is a grain serving, not 2.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

Reading and answering these boards helped me stay on track the last time I was around --and back then I stayed at a healthy weight for years! You can count of people here that will cheer you on, give you advice, and remind you that you are not the only person out there living this WOE. I'm on day 2 of P1! Feel free to PM if you want, or we can start a daily thread posting our menu for the day :)

As for the eggs, in reply to ivit123, there lots of non-egg options if you take a look through the P1 FAQ (whatever happened to recipelover's summary? I can't find it and it was SUPER useful!!!

Hi Everyone,

Just starting SB today. I have been on WW since October off and on and have lost 20 lbs. Haven't been able to loose anything since the beginning of February, I go up two, I go down two, over and over again. I did SB before, but never really stuck with it. I am going to try this again and this time stay active on the boards and focus on the program. I work out 3 - 5 times a week and love doing Zumba!. Hopefully, we can all do this together :D
