This is a great place for help and support. The biggest thing you can do for yourself is to really read and process the FAQ. It is really a pretty simple way of eating. I think people over complicate things. Loads of veggies, good fats, good whole grains (when you get to phase 2) and lean protein, no processed sugar or grains.

It would be easier to give suggestions if we had a sample of what your food looked like.

I agree. If you post your menu, with the amounts of food and anything you added to it (like dressings or sauces), people might be able to make suggestions.

Also, it's not clear to me what you are finding hard. Are you getting hungry? Is it too hard to prepare the meals? etc.

Healthygirl, I'm on my third time on phase 1. My motto is BE PREPARED. The first time I toughed it out (though i felt like a dead dog) and went on to lose 40 lbs. Then I slacked off on cooking, tripped over a box of cheezits and fell way way off the beach and gained back most of my weight. The second time I didn't make it though phase 1 largely due to lack of preparation. This time I'm on day 9 and I'm on top of things. For me it's ALL about preparation. I have got to have my food Cooked In Advance. I made a big pot of chicken chili, grilled many chicken breasts and lean burgers, stocked up on broccoli and cauliflower and chopped it for easy roasting and adding to salads, and made a six serving breakfast casserole and put it all in the fridge. Phase 1 is hard for me and if I run out of plan food that's ready eat then I will eat something else because I'm feeling too wimpy to cook. Best of luck to you. South Beach works.

Welcome back healthygirl!!!!! Keep checking in here often and I promise you will find support and information! For free!! I totally agree w Bethy, you just need to be prepared --go on a grocery run and pick up loads of SBD-friendly foods, and plan your meals as much as you can. I like eggs (some people don't), so I keep hard-boiled eggs in the fridge at home and my bag if I'm at work. time your snacks so you don't fall of the wagon, even if you aren't feeling super hungry. I like celery and peanut butter.
Hang in there and keep active on the boards!!!! We need an active community!!!!

Ggood morning all. i have been reading how toxic sugar is to your body, i guess i knew that because it is so addictive ,i can get off sugar better than bread. i have had a bad week ,so i need to get bqck on track .i did not go back to weight watchers ,i don't want to ,it is not a healthy diet now ,because they let you eat anything you want and you will keep doing that .just making bad choices . well this is a new day and i am done with sugar as of yesterday. i over loaded myself at church on sweets and i was so sick. i am getting off the stuff that is killing us ,i lost my brother a yr ago with diebe. he did not take care of it .he was only 67 . i don't want to end up like that ............everyone have a good day :D

We can do this together, HG.

Have good stuff - PERMITTED STUFF, I mean, not the bag of Utz that's sitting on the shelf next to the Pringles - ready in the fridge and pantry. Then take it one meal, one snack, one decision at a time. Don't worry about how hard you may think it's going to be to do this tomorrow or next year, just worry about Breakfast. Don't worry oabout thetens of pounds, concentrate on today's nutrition and intake. Then find ways to stay active and productive. Drink lots of water -- it fills you up, and besides, most of us don't like to munch while running to the bathroom. And post, post, post here.

With diabetes in your family, you have more reasons than some do to get your weight in hand. So come on, girl! You are too important to the world to be done in by a doughnut. Even if it does have sprinkles on it.

We're here to help. And to be helped. Scream when you need us!

healthygirl I am so GLAD to see that you're back! And Mike is totally right, don't worry about how hard it's going to be, worry about making sure that your next meal is healthy. Plan ahead, drink water, and stay in touch! I love sugar, too, and it can be a really hard habit to break :( but with some planning and support, you can do it!
