I am impressed. You went off the deep end at lunch, but managed to get back on track!!! How do you DO that??? That's the hard part - resisting the urge to just keep going with the junk after you've had a bit of a treat. I've been having too much trouble reeling myself back in when I splurge. But I have to learn to do that again because every week it seems like something comes up where I'm not totally in control of the menu.

Your working out is inspiring me, too. We're supposed to have a major warming this week, so looking forward to getting outside and walking in the sunshine!

Hey Chris - did you get out and about this weekend? Was the weather nice like you thought it would be? It's been gorgeous here! I know when I was out around noon today it was around 62 degrees!

So I am PSYCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally reached my goal weight for my official weigh-in today.... so now I can start to work on my next weight goal! I also look so much better in the mirror! I can definitely tell that my stomach is going down and those stupid "love handles" are disappearing!

I worked out with my trainer today and he told me that I have improved soo much since we started working together - that my form is awesome and I can really do so much more than I used to be able to do. I know it's true, too. Today I rowed 2 miles after my workout on the hardest level of the rower. AND - I came home and wasn't dead tired!

Yesterday my sister and my daughter and her husband and I took my dad out to celebrate his 86th birthday. He chose an Asian restaurant that has the most fantastic food! Unfortunately the sauces have things like cornstarch and probably sugars and whatnot - and the egg rolls are a no no. I did splurge and have a lemon cello for dessert. I also happened to stumble across a bake sale yesterday and no one was buying anything. (They were set up in the lobby of a huge thrift store.) I bought a couple of things to help them out and gave them to my sister! Wow, talk about will-power for me! I LOVE chocolate baked goods!

On a side note here... what is up with bake sales these days? I've noticed that they try to sell store bought cupcakes and cookies along with the homemade stuff. Soooo gross!

I'm planning my meals for the week.... scallops, lemon chicken, sirloin steak ... and other dinners (lunch is leftovers for the most part) and some great breakfasts! I hope to see this week be just as awesome as last week!

WooHoo! Congrats on making your mini-goal. Little bits of success all add up, and you've really been working it at the gym. I'm hoping to get a little of your energy through internet osmosis or something!

I am waiting impatiently for the scale to move down a bit. It seems I play with the same half pound all the time, so I'm trying to keep off the scale this week and just stick with the program. Ugh! Every time I start up we end up eating out, and Friday we drive to NY to pick up DS for spring break, which means at least one meal out. We usually go to a diner near the college, so I'm going to check out their menu again to find something beachy. Last time I had a gyro plate and lemon meringue pie. Maybe we should go somewhere else....

Hey Chris, do you have Qdobas near your son's college? They are SOOO good - and they have BROWN rice, black beans, pinto beans, grilled onions and peppers - and either steak, pork or chicken! Right now I am really liking their taco salads, and the scale has been very kind after each and every time I've eaten there, so it can't be too bad! I get some guacamole on top and skip the salad dressing. I love gyros, by the way!

Nothing much new on my end. Oh - I DID try a new recipe tonight - I cooked huge scallops and covered them with a sauce I made from peaches and minced ginger and shallots. It was very good! I made roasted asparagus to go with it - my entire family's favorite veggie!

My workout tonight was interval training on the Dreadmill - sprint at speed 8.0 and then walk at 2.8. Repeat over and over. When I could hardly walk I went and rowed a mile on level 10. It seemed like a pretty good workout! I had to rush home and cook dinner so that we could watch Biggest Loser - even though I don't like it this season. I'm addicted, I guess. And I keep hoping it will improve. :?

Don't think there's a Qdobas. Lots of little non-chain pubs which are very nice and sweet but usually my choices are lousy salads or chili. Plus trying to get DH to try someplace new is sometimes challenging, but I'm working on it! At least a few of the pubs seem to have nicer wraps and salads or at least sandwiches that come with something besides fries. DH usually wants a burger and fries and doesn't get that I would like some real veggies, not a bowl of iceberg and a winter tomato. Gotta get my game plan in place....

Your workout discipline is very very admirable. It's gross here today, so I guess I'm stuck with my dvd walk. The next week is supposed to be gorgeous, though. I'm thinking it's time to start cleaning up the yard 8)

Chris, you sound so much like me! Portions are my biggest issue! I have to really watch carbs - when I eat them, I tend to eat too much of them! And nuts are my favorite snack! And CHEESE!!! You are dedicated - the scale will tip in the right direction soon!!

Breakfast was South Beach turkey hash and a grapefruit. Lunch was SUPPOSED to be Ceviche. I washed the shrimp... and noticed that the shrimp wasn't deveined. (Why is this site saying I didn't spell "devein" right?) ANYWAY....it was particularly gross in this batch of shrimp. I was kind of picking through it and thinking how freaking unappetizing it was when one of my twins came in. I had already told him he could share it with me - and he asked me what was wrong. I told him that the shrimp looked so disgusting with the intestine filled with poop along the spine, lol. He didn't believe me and googled it. It was already peeled and COOKED - and they were small shrimp - and I have never deveined shrimp before. We looked at each other and dumped the entire bowl in the trash. What a waste of money! I'm such a fruitcake! lolol

I don't care. I'm not eating ANYTHING'S poop if I can help it. Who would CHOOSE to eat poop? (Well... probably lots of people don't mind when it comes to shrimp.) As for me, I am going to buy nice big jumbo DEVEINED shrimp! I can handle a little leftover stuff I guess... but not the whole kit and kaboodle! I am soooo not into cooking seafood. My daughter and her husband fish. Then you have to deal with heads and eyeballs and tails and slime and bones. Eww. NO trout tastes good enough to go through the hassle!

Then at the gym tonight one of the other trainers told me about a game you can play on the rowing machine. You are a fish and you chase other fish by how hard you row, and avoid the bigger fish that want to eat you - again, by controlling how hard you row. I was excited and so was my trainer, until we tried it. The game was stupid! You row hard - and then you have to sit still so that your fish floats down a little. Not a very effective workout! So I worked out with my trainer and did a mile on level 10.

Hey - I was down a half pound this morning - since Sunday! Wooohoo!

I don't eat seafood, hence, I don't cook it either. Wouldn't know how. Have tried to fix tilapia since we went on SB a few years ago and still don't like it. I can say that I don't blame you for dumping the shrimp. Sounds totally gross.

Your rowing is fantastic. Sounds funny that you were chasing fish. That wouldn't make me want to row fast at all!! I have thought about keeping a record of how far I walk on the treadmill and pretend I'm walking to see my sister in another state or something. That would be a goal to word towards!!!

Dene - that's an EXCELLENT idea! Something to motivate you to move!!

I'm doing pretty good! Thursday night was coconut curry cashew chicken (5 stars by ALL of us - fabulous!!) and I made corn for the boys and roasted cauliflower for me. Workout was Candlelight yoga which is always SOO awesome! RedRox never plays the same music combo twice - and it's always great music for yoga! Every once in a while I hear a song I know which is fun, but I like hearing all of the other music that is new to me. The class can be really challenging for me, but I always feel so relaxed once I get home! That's my favorite workout of the week by far!

Today I rowed 3 miles - and I have the blisters on my hands to prove it! I didn't want to go work out - the only way I could motivate myself to go to the gym was to strip off my work clothes and weigh myself before putting on my gym clothes. The scale was really NICE... and that motivated me to go workout! lol The gym is really empty on Friday evenings!

I was way too wiped out to cook so we got take out from the Black-eyed Pea restaurant. NOT the best place for take out since they specialize in comfort food/southern cooking and so much of their stuff is fried! I ended up getting a Sirloin steak on mushrooms and grilled onions, and I also ordered a veggie platter which is your choice of 5 veggies/sides out of 15 or more. Uh.... unfortunately I couldn't eat the majority of them! Kernel corn.... grilled corn on the cob... breaded and fried corn on the cob. Broccoli and white rice casserole. White rice and beans with bacon. Glazed carrots. Loaded baked potato. French fries. Mashed potatoes with gravy. Ok, that's 9 of the choices. Um.... green peas, spinach, broccoli, sweet potato, sweet potato fries, squash casserole. I think there might be even more. OH YEAH- mac and cheese and cinnamon apples in a heavy syrup. I'm probably still forgetting some of the options. The food was very good - but I hated wondering WHAT everything was cooked in! I work too hard to blow it by eating crappy food when I get take out!

Tomorrow the boys and I are volunteering to help clean up the Highland Canal in our city. They are going to feed us lunch afterwards... how much do you want to bet that nothing is Beach friendly??? Which is ok - I'm not going for the food, ha ha.

Since I am working so hard on improving my body and health, I am also trying to get more sleep and keep upbeat by thinking positive thoughts as much as I can. I never realized how often my thoughts turn to depressing topics! Ugh!!

I feel better and better every day! :D

When I read the words "loaded baked potato" I literally got a hunger pang! My favorite thing in the world! :D I can resist the fries, the pastas, the cheesy goodies etc. but I love me a loaded spud! Sigh. You did so well eating out!!

Also I think that it is super cool that you do yoga with another person on this forum!!! So Redrox is a yoga instructor and plays a mean soundtrack? :D

Are you packing a snack for clean-up duty with the kids?

Have a good night!

Wow Jin - is that a photo of YOU on the motorcycle? You look GREAT!!

RedRox is one of the monitors on this forum I believe, along with Magna and Kimborini. He has been in phase 3 for years now and he looks BUFF!! He is an awesome yoga instructor, too! He is the reason I joined my gym.

We ended up coming home after the clean-up and didn't stay for lunch. My twins didn't want to stay and I had some major hat head/hair going on! It was pretty scary! I didn't want to keep wearing the hat inside and I couldn't take it off and terrify everyone - so we just came home. I took a baggie of nuts with me but ended up not needing a snack. They gave us little backpacks (they always seem to give those out at clean-ups!) and a bottle of water - which we gave back - and a snack bar which I can't eat of course. It kind of irritates me that they buy gargantuan amounts of bottled water and hand it out at these clean-ups - I wish they would tell people to bring a thermos bottle. Here we are cleaning up the city and people are guzzling all these plastic water bottles! At least my city is big on recycling - but that doesn't mean the people who are on the city streets aren't tossing the bottles into their trash bags when they are done with them! Grrrrrr!

I think if I were a smoker I would be a considerate one and put butts out in my ashtray of my car - not toss them out the window. Heck, even my lawn is full of cigarette butts and no one in my house smokes! The number one item of trash was cigarette butts.. literally HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of them! (We were cleaning up on one side of a six lane street - speed limit 45 - so pretty busy and always full of traffic!) The number two item? The plastic that tears off of the top of the cigarette packages! TONS of those! People must just toss them out the window as they open a new pack of smokes! The world is a lot of smoker's ashtrays! We also found a gas cap, an AWESOME Halloween welcome mat that I wanted to bring home and use OUTSIDE (would never bring it in INSIDE) - it was soooo adorable!! And in great shape - there was nothing wrong with it! My boys wouldn't let me bring it home, lol. Lots of pieces of cars, an allen wrench, a big brush for washing a car, a floor mat, and tons of the usual - candy wrappers, empty cans, receipts.... blah blah blah.

I was going to go to the gym this afternoon but I am wiped out! After we got done with our clean-up we had to walk back to the car in the hot sun. All that bending down and standing up - the scale better show a pound less tomorrow!!!
