:D I think it's a great reminder that we can use all the excuses in the world, but ultimately, we have to make right choices as much as we can. There are going to be situations where we can't eat strictly beachy, but we know we're using excuses sometimes when there is no reason to. At least, I know I do. As we're quick to point out to each other on this forum, it's a lifestyle change, not a quick fix.

Hey Dene! You are SOO right!!

So I was a little disappointed in last night's show. It was actually boring... and I never find BL boring! Another lame challenge... drag PUZZLE pieces over and put them together to show everyone in all their "before" weight glory! Then we had Dolvett and Bob tossing testosterone around the gym, lol. Who cares HOW they exercise or WHO thought it up - when the ultimate goal should be having these people drop the pounds?

Speaking of which.... talk about SLOW going this season! What gives? I remember seasons where the contestants were dropping over 30 pounds some weeks! The men were almost always in the double digits! Now these HUGE men are dropping FIVE pounds?? WTH? Maybe they need Jillian to come back or something! On the other hand, I think the women are doing quite well.

I thought it was so sweet when Mrs. Santa Claus had the highest percentage of weight loss on her team and she saved her husband, "Santa". All along he kept saying how he wanted to win it to save HER... and then she saved HIM! He actually got a little teary! And he was SOOO proud of her when she had a good weight loss! I really like that couple.

I can't say I was sorry to see Mike go (his name WAS Mike - right?) but I can't say I like Conda or whatever her name is, any better! It's still too early to have favorites, so I wouldn't be too upset at most of them leaving at this point.

Hopefully next week's show will be more interesting! It looks like someone just ups and quits in the middle of the week? They showed Bob saying that no one has ever quit before, and it seemed to imply that someone left. I wonder who? lol

Yes, Mike was a difficult guy, wasn't he? I'm glad the light bulb finally went off for him during the vote and he could acknowledge that he was jealous of Jeremy and that's why he was snotty to him. The whole thing was that he wanted to bond with his brother that he didn't know too well. Glad he seemed to be doing well at home. No, I don't like Conda either. She has an attitude all the time, even with her trainer.

I don't get Bob saying that nobody has ever quit before. What about that olympic champion? Didn't he quit? Anyway, maybe it will be interesting to see what happens.

How dumb can you be to bet your team can lose 94 pounds in the SECOND week??? It's always a tough week. What were they thinking??? I, too, think the numbers are bad, even for the second week.

I didn't care for the show of Bob's jealousy of Dolvett using "his" exercises. So What?? Bob needs to FOCUS like he tells his team, and quit feeling threatened by Dolvett.

Gail is just asking for it. She's not putting in the work, even though she lost 5 pounds. I think Bob is aggravated at her attitude. He usually beats it out of them, though. :)

I don't think the Aqua Team is going to make it at home. If they could have lost 50 pounds in a month at home, they wouldn't have applied to the BL. Even with the incentive of getting on the ranch, I just don't see it happening. Maybe I'll be surprised.

I agree with you. When they showed the nutritionist talking to them I expected them to look at least a LITTLE different from when they left the ranch and although it seriously IS impossible to tell small weight losses in a very over-weight person - they didn't ANY different whatsoever. At least you can see it in the faces of those at the Ranch. I wonder how hard they are trying?

Like you said, we may be surprised. And we probably will be. It makes for a better show for Biggest Loser if the people make it back onto the Ranch.

Speaking of which.... it always cracks me up how upset the REST of the contestants get when someone comes back who was sent home before even setting foot on the Ranch. They always feel sooo threatened. I've noticed that those who weren't there the entire time get voted off quickly because no one bonded with them the way they did with those they spent a lot of time with.

you're right. these people bond, even though they eventually have to vote one of "their own" off. they haven't had a chance to develop a relationship with those who are brought back, so they don't feel as guilty to vote the newcomers back off. will be interesting to see how it plays out. my dh and I keep watching for the part that the preview shows where somebody yells "shut up, Santa!" Last night when we watched and it was over, he said, "well, I guess it wasn't this week." Ha.

I didn't put my "NO EXCUSES" signs up yet, but I've tried to remind myself of that when I look myself in the eye in the mirror.

LOL on the Santa bit! At this point I kind of hope that either "Santa" or his wife win.

You know, I've been telling myself the "No Excuses" mantra several times lately! I think it's GREAT!!

Biggest Loser was much more interesting this week! I liked how they paired off the people against each other to get themselves motivated! Also the challenge was more fun this week than the last two weeks of puzzle pieces. I actually got teary when Mrs. Santa Claus cried about not getting to talk to her kids and Santa gave HIS prize to her. Also some others did the same - SO sweet!!

I don't like Conda. Nancy only lost 2 pounds - I was surprised that Lauren got voted off instead of her.

I think I might like Gail. I still like Santa and Mrs. the best.

Man, I need to catch up. DH hates BL - he nicknames it the 'big fat loser' and complains everytime it's on... so I tend to watch something we both like or go out. I thought it was weird when they set such a high weight loss in week 2 as well. That was weird, and the guys were only losing 5 ish pounds. I think the contestents aren't as big as past seasons so maybe that's why. I do miss Jillian. I find the new trainer guy a little mean...

No, I don't care for Conda either. And the previews show her personality again. I couldn't believe they sent Lauren home. Why not Conda??? Or Nancy even?

I believe Conda was on the other team so last week and so was Nancy? And that was why they couldn't be sent home.

This week's show was only an hour because of the President's speech. I thought an hour worked out great! I got to see the challenge (which was pretty funny) and they condensed the exercising and took a lot of the drama out of the weigh-in. The black team couldn't use the gym and they didn't lose as much weight as the other team. Looks like it's winter there right now, so the outdoor pool is out!

I wasn't surprised that Gail went home. I think her heart wasn't in it since Lauren left. I was glad to see Mrs. Santa stay, even though it seems the other girls don't like her too well. I must say, she IS a poor loser! She said that Santa was a poor winner and that he gloated after the challenge - but then she locks herself in the bathroom and sulks. Whatever!

I still can't stand Conda. What an odd name - "Conda". Is that short for Anaconda??? :D

Conda, Nancy and Lauren are/were all on the Red Team. That's why I couldn't figure out why they sent Lauren home instead of Conda or Nancy. Lauren's mom is Gail, and she was on the black team and went home this week.

That's funny....AnaConda! You may have something there.

I, too, thought we got all we needed in an hour this week. I told my DH that I like it this way. Cuts out just watching them exercise and some of the drama and gets down to the challenges and shortened weigh in. We don't need to hear what EVERYBODY has to say at weigh in. Just a time filler. I read somewhere that weigh in actually takes about 6 hours to do and then they cut it down to fit. I think they need to cut it down some more.

We are still kind of liking Mark. He seems to just do the job and not enter into all the drama. Could be how the producers edit it, but so far he seems to be focused on getting the job done. Santa seems very sincere. Looked like it was breaking his heart when Chris fell apart this week. Maybe she will have a better attitude. She looked stricken when she got some votes, but I told my DH that she asked for it. We'll see if she stays on the straight and narrow now and cuts out the crap.

All I can say is.... OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfreakingbelievable!!

Talk about petty!! Some of those people should be ashamed of themselves, concerning their attitude towards the aqua team. One person was quoted as saying that if they lost a challenge THEY wouldn't get a second chance to come back to the ranch. Well excuse me if I am mistaken, but I don't ever remember a contestant going home because of losing a challenge EXCEPT before they ever step foot onto the ranch. The only way they go home is if they are eliminated by their teammates. Adrian and his sister EARNED their way back.... and I would like to point out that the sister (sorry I don't remember her name) lost MORE weight than many of the people who were at the ranch the entire time.

Conda and Kim need to go HOME! I couldn't believe NO ONE voted Conda to leave. She lost TWO pounds! Nancy lost FOUR pounds - yet people said she didn't pull her weight? (No pun intended!) Nancy doesn't stir up drama and have petty little issues with everyone the way Conda does. I was irritated the entire two hours I watched the show.

Everyone pissed and moaned about the low weight loss of the aqua team... well excuse me - Chisolm lost 2 pounds the same as Adrian and Chisolm is a bigger guy. What was HIS excuse? I didn't see anyone ragging about HIM! And Conda only lost one more pound than Adrian's sister! I felt like I was watching a bunch of middle school kids having a fight on the play ground - and it looks like next week is more of the same. Ridiculous.

And I will say it again.... in all the years I have watched the Biggest Loser I have NEVER seen people lose such little weight on the ranch. EVER!! I think they need to bring Jillian back. Hell - I am doing just as well on my own at my house, working out three to four days a week for an hour to an hour and a half at a time! I'm not kidding! And I stumble now and then, eating something I shouldn't!! This season has been a huge disappointment, in my opinion.

Ky, you are right on so many levels. Kim has a big mouth. All that complaining about the aqua team getting a chance to come back. Has she never seen the show before? They do that alot. In different ways, but there have been several times where people who went home were given a chance to win their way back on the ranch. Adrian and Daphne did a good job at home. I do wish Adrian would have kept his mouth shut though. He didn't need to come in there all puffed up about working out 14 hours a day and causing the team to get their backs up immediately. He should have kept under the radar and just worked to gain their acceptance. Then I couldn't believe what he said after the vote about not understanding why THEY voted Nancy off, "because I didn't vote her off, they did." Good grief, how to win friends. NOT! Newcomers have not earned the right to judge other people's votes. I don't understand why Adrian and Daphne didn't lose more, but you are so right.....most of the people there didn't lose either and nobody pitched a hissy fit about that!!!

Conda is so immature. We're talking middle school antics! I can't believe how she acts. And I'm with you.....why the heck don't they vote her off? What's up with voting off Nancy at 4 pounds and not Conda when she only lost 2???

This is the biggest bunch of whiners I've ever seen on there and hardly anybody is losing weight!!! So much for NO EXCUSES!

Oh you brought up some good points!! Adrian DID stick his foot in his mouth more than once!! Sheeeesh!! He does seem to think he is above everyone there. Daphne (thanks for telling me her name!) seems to be a really nice person and boy does she want to be there at the ranch! I hope they don't send her home because she's the newbie!

I am hoping the show starts to get better, but I don't have high hopes.

But I DO enjoy hashing each week with you! lol

Same here, Ky. I like sharing our opinions and observations with each other. Poor Chris (Mrs. Santa.) I don't think she made many points with Chism and Jeremy. She doesn't seem to have very good social skills, which was obvious when she tried to make nice with them NOW after they cast a vote against her. They obviously weren't buying it. That's sad, since she is working hard, but she really stomped her own toe when she had that meltdown last week and wanted to go home. Gonna take some convincing to show the others that it was a temporary lapse and that she really does want to be there. But to try to butter up the boys with all that stuff about how they remind her of her son and all that.....not a good move on her part. She should have just made small efforts to speak to them and slowly gain their approval instead of making a big show of announcing how she has always liked them, blah, blah, blah.

Daphne did work hard, except there was a point made about her leaving the gym and not completing her "homework." I guess I wasn't aware that Bob gives them work to do after their official workouts are done. The others weren't too impressed when she took off early, but she did work hard during the official workouts. Maybe she will lose more weight next time and impress the rest of her team.

I would like to see better results. And that's funny because I know that is not "real life" and we can't all lose 10 pounds a week, but we seem to expect it on BL. :)
