Hi, Maureen! Happy New Year. I hope things are calming down for you stress-wise. We're all back trying to get on track so it's nice that you're here again, too. I envy your gym membership! I just plunked down a whole $5 for a community walking program that gives me access to a track at our Y. Also getting some new exercise dvds hoping to get moving again!

Hi Guys! I am so glad I have you all here! I am thinking that I am feeling the anxiety that I feel everyday because of the carbs that I am taking in. I am weaning off the sugar and bread today and I am starting phase 1 tomorrow. I have been cleaning like crazy so I won't have the house guilt while I spend extra time at the gym this week. I have been drinking the dreaded pepsi again and it makes me feel like crap but my head thinks that I want it. I am going cold turkey tomorrow! I have to because it makes me crave crackers or tortilla chips which is horrible. My MIL gave me some money for Christmas so I am thinking about signing up for a yoga class at a studio which is supposed to be "life-changing". It is 20dollars a class which is how much my gym membership is for the whole month but I am going to look at it as therapy and stress reducing. I feel like when I am really practicing yoga regularly, I am a much more relaxed, healthy, content person. I can't wait to feel good again!! I am going to do it. Tired of being tired and anxious these past few weeks..... :( :? I love hearing that you guys are doing so well, it makes me reaklize that I have to jump back in to it!! Thank you all!

Hey Maureen, I know how difficult it is for you to put yourself up there and make yourself a priority, however, if you're unhappy and depressed, you won't be much good to your family. I think the yoga sounds like a great idea and will put your mind in a much better perspective. Quitting the pepsi is also a good idea. When I start the day with sugar, it just sets me up to crave sugar for the rest of the day and there's no way I can resist. P1 has helped me so much this week with that issue. It's AMAZING how fast it kicks in and how much better I feel both mentally and physically. Also when I go to the gym to do one of my fun classes, I'm just so happy!! I have a big smile on my face and am planning on when I can go back. It's my happy place for sure!

So glad you're back and ready to move forward. We can do this!!

A clean house always puts me in a better mood! Wish I could motivate myself to do a lot of cleaning! That's my plan for this week though - lots of cleanup. I've been cooking all weekend, mostly non-beachy stuff for my college son who will be leaving again soon. Just pulled a cake out of the oven, yikes!

Yoga sounds wonderful. Maybe you can find a cheaper class - have you checked out your local adult ed program? Sometimes the instructors are really good, sometimes not

Maureen its great to see you! It's definetly important to make yourself a priority because if you dont then who will right? Its sad that terms like weening are actually used here especially since its so true. Sugary foods and carbs are addicting just like a drug can be. People of course never realize it because most people eat whatever they want and never even consider changing the way they eat. You're doing great! Keep strong Maureen and glad to see you back on the beach.

Hi Jeff! Thanks for the support, you are dead on when you say that sugar is like a an addicting drug. The stress of life has been getting to me and I am feeding myself carbs and I know for a fact it makes the stress that much harder to handle. I have been cleaning and eating and the cleaning makes me feel so good but the eating makes me feel so horrible. I am to the point now though that I exercised a few times this week and I know for a fact that my body needs to move and sweat and lift. It is hard to explain but I feel the most like myself when I am in the gym. I think more clearly and I feel like I can handle anything then when I get home and nurses and doctors and kids and the dogs all are needing something from me, I just crumble and eat. :( I was doing so awesome and feeling so good a few weeks ago so I know that I can do it, I am just having a hard time doing it fully this time. I have a lot of things scheduled the next few weeks so I really want to feel good, hopefully I can commit to this healthy WOE for real! I just made some chicken and spinach soup and threw a handful of whole wheat pasta in and it is delicious. I am going to try to do really well and not consider a few noodles as a cheat since they are whole wheat. I did step class today and then jogged 3 miles with DH so I feel really good....I honestly didn't think I had a run in me but he was going so I joined him and it felt awesome to complete it. I am already sore which is a great feeling.
Chris, It's so nice to hear from you! Good luck cleaning...it has made me feel so good and I am looking at it as prep for my new beginning of starting this WOL again. I know I can do it, it's just a matter of when  . I am slowly getting on....
Lisa, you are so right about the starting the day with sugar and craving it the rest of the day...It is a horrible cycle to be in...I need to get through one day of no bad sugars and the rest of the days get so much easier...Working out has helped me change my mood so hopefully each day I will get stronger all around! :)

I finally hopped on the scale and I gained but it wasn't as horrible as I thought. It was 143.6 so I am up but I know I can get back in the 130's if I want it bad enough and I really do......Gotta work hard this week! :D

sounds like you have a plan set in place and that's one of the most important things. Working out is actually my "me time" believe it or not considering it makes the rest of my day go by much smoother and it settles both my body and mind. I actually look forward to the slightly sore feeling the next day, kind of makes me feel alive and reminds me that im doing the right thing and my body will thank me. Probably a little weird but it works! I think im a little too stubborn when it comes to sweets, i idly munched on a muffin the other day not even thinking about it, then when i realized i spit it into the trash, threw it out and brushed my teeth. like i said sometimes i take it a bit too far =/

yes it's definitely a cycle... but I can tell you that since I started a clean P1 10 days ago I feel great. My body feels good and tight (working out lots), my mind is clearer, I have more energy, I'm sleeping better at night and most of the time, I don't want any crap! So it really does work, you just have to get through the first couple of days. I know you know that though. You'll be back to the 130s in no time.

Maureen and Lisa, I so agree with you on the effects of sugar first thing in the morning. It is a wrecking ball for me! The rest of the day just goes badly. A while back I looked at all my GF International coffees that I was letting myself sip occasionally. The creamer is corn syrup solids—ick... Not a good way to start or end the day.

For me too I have to save the carbs for dinner as well. I found myself in the habit of allowing carbs at every meal again these past couple of meals, and it just screws me for the day!!! It's really terrible. If I can eat no carbs for breakfast and lunch (have the fruit and other stuff but no pasta/bread, etc.) I'm golden for the day. I have a nice carb at dinner and then I go to bed and all is good. If I have cereal or toast for breakfast, then I need it for lunch and dinner too.. Just something I've learned walking the SB. It's good to learn.

Hi Maureen! Stopping by to say "HI" and check in on your P1. Good to read about your step class and run a few days back. Step has always been a favorite of mine :)

Hi grace! So nice to hear from you! I love that so many people are in hear getting back on track. I have a hard time getting on the computer now but it is for a good reason. I used to come on the the morning after the kids went to school but now I go to the gym for classes which I love. I am still struggling with complete discipline with my diet but I am doing so much better. My body is sore from my workouts and I started playing tennis in an indoor league which is a bunch of really nice ladies and we play doubles and keep it fun! I sweat and don't even feel like I am working out but I can feel a difference in my body when I am done playing. It is also motivating me to want to work harder at the weights and stretching because I want to get conditioned so that I play better. The more active I am, the less I think about food which is a very good thing! I am making turkey burgers for dinner with mushrooms and onions and maybe green beans on the side with tomato and a little feta. Can't wait for dinner.....I am also making a lentil soup for the week to keep in the fridge. That helps me a ton. Plus, lots of water, water, water!!! Have a great week everyone!

Hi, Maureen! It sounds like the exercise is making a world of difference for you. I know that the more I do, the better I feel and the better I sleep. So why is it so hard to get started? Playing doubles tennis sounds like fun - you get to move doing something you love and socialize at the same time. Maybe that's what I need - I'd love to do a water exercise class, but that will have to wait until I can afford it when I'm working again. For now, it's me and my dvd's, LOL!

So glad you're enjoying the gym Maureen, and finding something you love to do. For me it's key to do something I enjoy that doesn't feel super hard. I could not live without my gym!!! Also for me, I can work out like crazy but it's all about what I put in my mouth. I find the exercise helps me make healthier food choices... It's a strange but great cycle.

Anyway, have a great week and enjoy the gym.
