Is this milkshake mix OK?

Postby Deb195 » Wed Jul 20, 2011 12:29 pm

Hi,
I hope someone can help. I'm on day 11 of phase 1 and just doing some shopping research for phase 2. I've realised I'm not getting enough dairy in my meals so thought I could have some milkshake like many of the previous posts suggest. I've only managed to find one milkshake mix that says 'no added sugar' rather than sugar free, please could someone scan the ingredients to see if it's OK for me. To me it reads like something out of a chemistry text book ;-)

Many Thanks
Deb

I'm pretty sure that usually people are talking about making a shake out of real foods, like milk, tofu, fruit, and veggies, not a mix.

There are lots of recipes in Recipelover's sticky in the food area of this message board.

That mix is just a flavoring mix with color, sweetener, and a little strawberry flavor. You could use it if you wanted to, but just adding regular fruit, flavoring, and sweetener (if you want one) would work too.

I make my own with 1 fruit serving, 1 cup of l/f milk, 5-6 ice cubes and 2-3 packets Truvia. I had some old WW milk shake mixes that I threw out, after tasting my own. There's no comparison in taste and I get my fruit in.

Thanks for your replies. I bought the mix and it tastes OK, but more importantly it means I'm using my diary allowance now.
I know fresh fruit would taste much better but I'm just finding myself in the kitchen an awful lot on this diet and could do with some very easy options.
My other half is complaining about the amount of washing up he has to do now
