It must be hard for you if you are so used to eating noodles and rice every day. Many people miss bread more since that's pretty much the staple food around here. On Phase 2, I like to use soba since they're more whole grain or brown rice. The hard thing is portion control - you still need mostly vegetables and just a little of your rice or noodles.

Thanks Chris55 for the tips. Yes, portion control is a key in every diet. Before SB, I ate a big bowl of white rice (2-3 cups) in one sitting. Now I have to control it by having only 1/2 cup of brown rice. For example, if I am making fried rice, I will use only 1/2 cup of brown rice and add more veggies to make more volume to my plate.

Oh, I like that soba noodles also. In phase 2, we are allowed to have 3/4 cup of cook noodles and that more than enough. I have SBD supercharge book and I will follow the portion control guilde line letter by letter.

I think 2 weeks of phase 1 is worth it because I begin to think of rice and noodles as a side dish not a main dish.

I watched Dr. oz show today and he showed how to make the healtiest brownies that you won't taste it anywhere. Hmmm It called 'black bean brownie' . Everything is almost the same as the recipe that floating around here for an age but he said it was new. I guess? :). (I might be new to SB but I heard about black bean brownie from Atkin diet since then.)

Anyway, I had 2 pieces today before and after the show. lol

6/24/11 SBD Phase 1. Day 12

B--Flaxseed pancake topped with sf maple syrup
--3 zucchini-turkey patties (my last ones. I have to make more this weekend)

L--2 cups cauliflower-rice
--Chicken curried
--Chinese okra saute' with olive oil and garlic

S--2 black bean brownies
--1 cup light soymilk

D--2 sliced turkey breast wrapped with one slice cheese
-- Stir fried chinese okra with chicken and egg

Excercise: 20 minutes A.M. yoga, 30 minutes walk

****I made zucchini-turkey patties by mixing lean ground turkey with chopped onion, grated zucchini ,egg beater, salt and pepper. Then made a small patty about 1 tbsp each and cooked in the pan that spray with pam. ****

I added this recipes for Zucchini-turkey patties

1 pack ground lean turkey or any kind of ground meat you like (about a lb or so)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cups grated zucchini
1 egg or 1/4 cup egg beater
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp grated ginger (optional)
salt and pepper to taste

1. Mix everything together and taste it by putting one tsp in microwave. Add seasonings to suit your taste.
2. Spooned the mixture to form into patties (about 1 or 2 tbsp each) . Cook in the pan that spray with pam until both sides are cook.

Hi Prise !
Thanky you So much for posting your recipes ! You have truly inspired me and as someone else said - you have expanded my horizons. There is an Asian grocery store in our town so I am going to go and look for the tofu noodles and the seaweed noodles. I really hope that they carry them. Your recipes look so good. I wish you could come over and cook for me :D . Keep up the great work - I can already see that you are going to make it !

Hi Prise !
I went to the store today and they told me that they were out of tofu noodles and fresh seaweed noodles. I ended up buying seaweed stem (It is fresh and he said to just add sesame oil and soy, rice wine vinegar etc. I have had this 'seaweed green' at restaurants and I like it. Can you help me with how to flavor it ? Also when he said that he didn't have seaweed noodles until next week - I asked if he had dry ones since he wanted me to buy fresh. I bought a 1 ounce dried package of "dried seaweed"that also says "Algue (Ito Wakame)" Does that sound like the seaweed noodles you use? He said to soak it in cold water. I am confused so any help you can give, I would appreciate it ! Thank you so much :D

Foxglove287--- I saw seaweed stem at the store but I never bought them or cooked them before. It kind of korean-japanese food. For dried seaweed, I searched on the internet to see what it looks like and also some recipes.

Here is the link that might help.

By the way if you never have tofu noodles before, I would recomment to buy one just to taste it b/c some ppl don't like it and find it 'rubbery'.

Here is the link of noodles that I used for cooking.

Kelp noodle:

Tofu noodle:

Hopefully those links would help.

I had doctor appointment for checked up today. Everything is in an excellent condition. Last 3 monhts I had high cholesterol, thyroid cancer (both are removed), diabetics and I was so closed to be given BP medication. Last checked up in March my triglyceride was 494 and today was 91 (I didn't take high cholesterol med) :D :?: , My A1C was 7.5 today is 5.9 :o my BP is very normal so I don't need BP medication. Whewwwww....I was so relieve. He told me to keep doing what I am doing. I didn't tell him that I am doing SB. He will see my in October. If everything is still excellent condition, I might be free of any med (except thyroid med.)

The doctor appointment ruined my eating schedule today. I had lunch after seeing him so it was around 3 pm. It was so late so I didn't feel like I want to eat dinner. I just had a glass of soymilk and flaxseed muffin. I didn't have any veggies exept a little bit in the patties and bean in brownies. I will eat a ton tomorrow :?
