Made it through the holiday craziness and kept my food beachy. Need to plan daily menus so when I'm tired I am not tempted to eat out or on the go.

This time of year gets tricky. Lots of celebrations at the college including commencement receptions. Mounds of tempting food, especially desserts are all over campus. Yesterday giant cookies were calling my name at a function but I ate a dark chocolate chip that fell off a cookie, 3 dark Hershey kisses and that was that. I wanted to eat about 30 of the cookies. I really did but then thought I would still want more and ignored them. Tonight is book club. We read a wonderful book called, "The Art of Racing In the Rain" by Garth Stein. Thinking about bringing the SF version of candied nuts w/ egg whites, splenda and spices and red cab.

Ate really lite until dinner since I had decided to treat and celebrate Cinco de Mayo out with hubby and friends. Was looking forward to Margaritas and chips and salsa but due to crazy crowds, bad vibes and the need for a liquor license at our usual Mexican place we ended up at an Irish Pub! I ended up w/ a taco salad and two margaritas. Left 3/4 of the shell uneaten so I could eat two pretzel rolls that were rock hard. So unsatisfying!!!! Today back on track. Do not feel cravey (yes I made that word up) and will eat lots of mini meals today to avoid a food frenzy.

Beautiful day here in Rahchacha. Planted vegetables from seed and looking forward to getting them outside to begin to harden. I am typically a perennial gardener but I am getting into lilacs, which Rochester is somewhat known for. A colleague of mine has moved to Portland and I wanted her to have a little something from Rochester to remember us by so I bought her a lovely lilac and of course one for myself as well. It's beautiful and thriving and hers is as well.
As far as food goes I can honestly say only two days have been non beachy out of 40. I can live with that. Would like to best that and make it only one day out of 40 in the days forward. Working it!

Howdy neighbor! :-) You've been doing well! I've completely fallen off the wagon, so it's back to P1 I go. You had warned me about slipping due to all my life changes, and slip I did! I've gained back at least 15 pounds of the 25ish I'd lost. So today is Day 2 of Phase 1 - so far, so good!

So if I can afford regular yoga I hear there's a great place within biking distance of my new home! We're looking to close around the end of June. So excited!!

Doc-I cannot believe you are moving to the street one over from me. Life is funny that way. It's karma. I giggle when I think of how lost you were trying to find me on Mitchell Road and the canal path for a run and now you will be living practically a hop skip and jump from it. The two of you are going to fall in love with this lovely idyllic place on the canal. Different view from your port of Spencer; ) We love it and are looking forward to getting together with you two. I look forward to three academics against the engineer!!!!! You two will definitely need bikes.
Foodwise I was bad this weekend so phase 1 for me too. Had pizza and homemade potato chips at new pizza place that opened in the village. I need to detox. Hubby's sugar is up so he is being good too. Now we just need Trashy Ann and my life would be complete. Coax jams too!

I know, it's surreal! I think I will love it. The village is great, and I'm sure I'll be finding that Mitchell Road entrance to the canal towpath before you know it! I know the pizza place you're talking about - is it good? My kids ate there when they were with their dad.

We have bikes, too. Mine will need to be tuned up but we would love to bike. R has been talking about biking since last year. And I'm definitely looking forward to getting together and meeting your dh! Hopefully he isn't overwhelmed by the three chatty academics.

Let us know when you get in and settled. Hubby is an electrical engineer and very handy. If we can be of help just let us know! Is it a Spall home? That is a bear of a hill in the winter. Especially on a bike. Our hill is tough too. I am really excited for the two of you!

I sure will. We have the inspections Thursday morning. I'd ask if you were free for lunch after but I have to give an exam at 12:30. I can imagine an EE would be quite handy! Aren't both your boymen going into Engineering as well?

The house is a Spall. Is yours as well? They seemed to have built many of the homes in that town. I can see how the hill might be a killer - especially coming back from runs and bike rides. Not sure how well the kids and I would fare on our Rollerblades, either. We are pretty close to the cul-de-sac, so lots of climbing. I'd had nightmare visions of kids on bikes flying into Rt. 96, but noticed the last time we were there that it flattens out a bit at the end. I feel better about that now. So excited!!

Still rocking P1 here. Now to get my running routine going again. Is this weather ever going to get better??

Still very wet here but I was able to get some plants in the ground. Hopeful that nice sunny weather is headed our way. My new lilac is flourishing and my veggies are in the ground. Just planters left to do. I actually had 3 geraniums survive indoors this winter and fun to finally put them back outside on the deck.
As far as food goes:
I keep thinking about the words"being good" vs "eating well".
Being good to me means staying away from sugar and white flour. I sometimes use the logic that not eating anything is better than eating the choices I have before me. However that is not the view I should be using. I need to eat well and eat often. Therein lies the difference. I need to be better prepared to eat well. I can't go hungry and then when starved try to make a decision of what to eat while staring at a opened refridgerator.
Today I am going to make a list of foods I love that will support my eating well and make some plans that include menu ideas and a shopping list.

Lots of tennis happening here as I get ready for two leagues to begin. One I play on Friday mornings and other is played on Thursday evenings. Practices for both are Monday and Tuesday nights. I really need a new pair of sneaks to deal with all this foot time. Tough on the feet. Scared to get plantar again. Fuel/food is showing a definite improvement. When I am playing tennis for two hours it really diminishes my appetite after. Need to plan around this schedule better. Working it.

Way to work it! Take care of those feet. Have you done any running lately?

Howdy New Neighbor-Drove by your house yesterday to check it out. I think you are going to love living here.
Only running I have been doing is on the tennis courts. And lately after two hours of hard hitting/moving the left heel is screaming. Not sure combining the two right now would be sane. We can bike, walk, yoga, and other fun thangs. Maybe get you and R on the paddle courts in the Fall

Very cool! Summer is the best time in that house. The back yard is like paradise. I can't wait to move in. Walking, yoga, biking, and paddle all sound good! Hope you don't mind I'm not the best tennis player, and that might be an understatement. R is a bit more experienced than I, and pretty athletic. We would both love to play. I got a one-month membership through Groupon to one of the other yoga places. Can't beat $40 for a month. Perhaps one will come up for Breathe as well.

I got out of my running routine and need to start over again. I'm hoping being in one place will help me with consistency.
