The South Beach brand bars really aren't any better for the plan than any other bar, and Atkins has a different set of goals than SB. Personally, if I'm on the go and need a snack I eat a Kashi bar-- either the Peanut Peanut Butter or the TLC Trail Mix. The sugar is low and they're made with whole grains and real ingredients. A lot of bars (including the SB bars) have a lot of junk ingredients. But I don't use them as meal replacement-- only in a pinch if I'm out driving around and my blood sugar is starting to get low.
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

SB since Nov '03
Goal: major weight loss (50+ lbs) & good health

I use Kashi bars maybe once a week in a pinch for a snack. Occasionally when I'm away from home I will have one with some greek yogurt and a can of V8 and call it breakfast, especially if I'm at a hotel that serves donuts for "continental breakfast". I eat mostly the Trail Mix ones since they're lowest in sugar. I'll also eat Lara Bars once in a while if I can find them on sale - they're just ground up nuts and dried fruit. They're great to stick in your bag for the gym or for emergencies, like being stuck at the mall Christmas shopping.

I did end up getting the Kashi Bars they seemed better than the others, I will have to try and find the other brand that you were talking about but I dont think they are in my area. Thanks for all the feedback.

Lara Bars have become fairly popular recently. You might find them in health food stores, drugstores, delicatessens/specialty groceries, or even some supermarkets. You can also order them online, though you would probably want to sample different kinds before you knew what you liked.
