Egg substitiute

Postby kimsipoo » Fri Feb 25, 2011 10:41 am

Hi Moderators,
I posted the question about egg substitutes a few days back but still have not received a reply?
I asked that most egg substitutes call for some sort of Flour, either corn or arrow root or potato starch. the recipe in the SB diet book to maple flan calls for egg substitute so what can be used as I am aware that Phase 1 is a no no for any sort of flours??

Awaiting you reply.
THank you

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. I just looked up the ingredients for Eggbeaters brand of egg substitute and there are no flours or starches added. They are fine for Phase 1, but so are whole eggs unless your doctor restricts them. If you need to cut back on whole eggs, you can also use a whole egg and egg whites, either from the egg (toss the yolk) or from a carton of plain egg whites.

You did get some answers here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=100978

Maybe you couldn't find where you asked the question?

You used to be able to just pull up all the threads that you posted on, but that feature has disappeared, making it more challenging to find things!

I get my egg substitute at costco, it is so much cheaper than in the stores. I think it was $7 or 8 dollars for 6 cartons!! I freeze half so they last a really long time.
