Yes, I just had the best visit to the doctor that I ever have had. After not quite 4 weeks on SB I now have a blood pressure of 117/70, cholesterol of 118 (down from 250), fasting blood sugar of 112 (down from 123) and the best news is that I was taken off one of the 2 cholesterol medications that I was on and a reduced amount of the other cholesterol medication. No heartburn and oddly enough no more hot flashes!!! The bonus is that I have lost 11 lbs to date. I feel great both physically and mentally. :D :D :D

I was on the fast track to diabetes, and going on SB reversed that. My doctor is a huge fan of SB-- she said "keep doing what you're doing."
My FAQ-- food lists, portion guidelines, etc.

SB since Nov '03
Goal: major weight loss (50+ lbs) & good health
Reached Jan '05!

Yes it has had a great effect. My Diabetes Dietitian said that the phase 2 SBD is ideal if not too strict for a type 2 diabetic. Since I enjoy the diet so what if it is stricter? Now with the Metformin, the phase 2 SBD is giving me control of my blood glucose levels. Actually, I have found for myself, that for some items, phase 2 is not strict enough. That is what frequent testing, at least 2 to 3 times daily, is all about. I am now enjoying the (1) diet, (2) the control, and (3) the results.

BTW, as far as results go, I had a 108 BG at waking today and an 80 BG before lunch!

Looking back I wish I would not have slipped off of the SBD about 3-4 years ago, gained the recent weight and became a type-2 Diabetic. But it happened, so instead of fretting about it, I plan to go back to what worked, the SBD, and live life to the fullest.
I am a Phase 2, 64 YO retired, a type-2 diabetic, still a Gym Rat!
Restart into SBD weight of 229 on 01/01/2011
Current weight of 212 on 03/15/2011
Immediate goal of 205, future goal of 195

I have only been on the diet for 2 weeks and am having wonderful results. I was on metformin for type 2 diabetes and metoprolol for high blood pressure and palpitations. In just this short time my sugar, which used to be in the 300's with medication is now only anywhere between 104-143 without medication. Same for blood pressure was 137/96 or a little higher and is now around 110/76 without medication. I wish that my husband and I had found this diet years ago! And to boot I have almost lost 10 pounds! :)

I know this is an old thread, but FWIW for those that may read in the future...... as a T2 diabetic on three oral meds I have been fighting "dawn phenomenon" sugar levels for years, usually in the 170's in the morning. I have been in Phase One for only 48 hours now, but here are my morning sugars upon awakening for the past three days:

Day 1 (the morning I started SBD): BS 229
Day 2: 117
Day 3: 104

This may just be the shock my body is going through from the relative lack of carbs. But I'll take it. And I pray it continues.

--- Update: At Day 8, I have had 4 mornings with sugars below 120 (excellent for me) 2 in the 130's, and 2 in the 150's. And whereas pre-SBD I had no daily BS below 160, this week I have had close to 10 that were below 100 and had to be "medicated" with juice or peanut butter crackers, etc. If these keeps up, next appointment with the endocrynologist will involve a convo t oreduce my meds! That is a GREAT prospect!
