Thanks for starting this thread, Kyan! Here's the "skinny"

10 lb. by summer. Here's who we have going on so far. Me, Chefk, Kyan, Dragonfly, Lakegran, and Denise (if she make's it over here!)... Anyone else sure is welcome!

So far Chefk and I have decided to weigh in on Tuesdays, so based on that, Tuesday is weigh in day. If you don't want to share your weight, feel free to just log a +1, 0, -1, -2, etc. to show where you stand with the 10 lbs. I'm not going to do my 1st official weigh-in till next Tuesday, so I'm going to call that our official start date. February 1, 2011!

I'm logging my food and exercise in my journal for accountability. I think that's what I need to do to get serious about losing some weight. Chefk is focusing on her veggie intake, I believe? I figure each of us will need to do different things to find our own success, and we can just share whatever we wish to with each other?

So, this is nothing formal, but just something with some accountability and motivation to get the scale moving southward!

As for summer... Technically summer solstice is June 21st, which happens to be a Tuesday! So let's shoot for final weigh-in on that day?!

Okay! Lets get ready for swimsuit weather.

I like to join the challenge also, if it is ok. I started 2 weeks ago and lost 7.5 lbs the first 2 weeks and I have 10 lbs to goal (11 to be correct). I also have journal for accountability. My goal is to keep on with the good habits I have now after starting the SBD.
I am learning and getting used to the new lifestyle, and loving it, I have so much more energy and my blood sugar are so stable, before I had low blood sugar several times a day, I love the SBD :P
Start SBD 15. Jan 2011 - lost 3.4 kg. (7.5 lbs) phase 1.
New Start august 3. 2011 -

SW: 76.6 kg. (169 lbs)
GW: 68 kg. (149 lbs)
CW: 66.3 kg. (146 lbs)
GW 30th Martch 2011
.....
New:
SW: 70.3 kg. (154 lbs)
GW: 65.9 kg. (145 lbs)
CW: 67.7 kg. (149 lbs)

Welcome, lotusLove! I just want to say wow and congratulations on your progress so far! That is amazing. Glad you are joining us. Those last few pounds can be very difficult, and I am so happy that you are finding success on the beach!

Lakegran, I know what you mean when you say I NEED this. :) I'd love to do 5 days a week, but with schedules and little kiddos, I'm happy with 2. I'm hoping when the mountains of snow that we have actually melt, I'll get out more.

Hi Ky

I like to join in as well. I think 10 lbs by June 21at is very practical and doable. I have been looking to do just this, get those 10lbs going, so I am joining. I can't avoid the scale every day (used to be worse, every few hours...stopped that, mostly), but will post here whenever you all do. For me, avoiding food at night, and avoiding emotional eating is what keeps me from moving down. I think this may be just the right inspiration.

Best of luck to all of us!

Hey Jhderm! Glad you could join us!

I honestly think it's going to be real fun to do this together, and have a common goal.

Like you, emotional eating is one of my downfalls! And it's not confined to EMOTIONAL eating, either! Yesterday morning I went to the bank (they are all so friendly!) and they asked what I was going to do for the day. I told them that my favourite thing to do is go spend money and ESPECIALLY eat out! My second favourite thing to do is get take-out and eat it in front of the TV or a DVD. I need to find some new favourite things! lol

Count me in too! Although my goal is to reach goal by my March break vacation... not sure that's gonna happen so June 21st sounds mighty good to me. Just in time for swim suit season. I journal pretty much every day in my journal for accountability, and I usually weigh in Wednesdays, so will post my weekly success here every Wednesday. Thanks for starting this Kyan!!!

Oops! I can't take credit for any of this! My only part was in starting a thread in the journal for us to all post in. I believe this was Smay's idea!!

May I join too please?? I really like this idea. I need exercise and diet accountability . I also give up easily when I reach a stretch of no weight loss. The first 2 weeks I lost a total of 10 lbs and have had no loss in the last 2 weeks. I have tried to up the exercise but have to admit I am getting a tad discouraged.

Welcome Dotty! The more the merrier! The great thing about a group like this, is that you are bound to find people who have the same issues that you struggle with - and we can all encourage each other!

Hello! Finally made it over here..

I am Denise..

I actually need to lose 14 since I gained 4 pounds recently... hopefully mostly water weight!!! I need to focus on night time snacking.. I do great with exercising.. My goal is to run 20 miles a week and I have made that goal all but one week in 2011... I have a horrible habit of eating a handful of chips while cooking dinner.. and then some M&Ms.. or whatever I can snack on.... I need to STOP this...........(most of the junk food is gone out of the house.. hence the 4 pounds... so, this should help!!) I also would like to add in some strength training into my routine each week... I really think I need this to get some weigh loss going.. I have been the same weight (give or take 3 or 4 pounds) for about 3 years now.. and have not really been able to get rid of the last 10 pounds..............

Well..> Good luck everyone.... It looks like a few of us have to tackle the eating at night monster.................

One more thing... WOW.. it has been a LONG time since I have posted to this board.. probably 4 or 5 years because my ticker is actually 10 pounds off... I need to go and change it....... Man.. getting old stinks!!!

Yeah Denise! Glad you made it, and I'm sorry about the extra 4 lb. :( Remember though, tomorrow is the 1st official weigh-in, so maybe it will be less.

Welcome to bonnie, Jhderm, dotty53 and Beaching It too! So happy you are joining us!

Looks like we have a huge group! I'm so excited about that! Please post your weight tomorrow! Again, no need to share a number, just where you are in relation to where you want to be. Each week I'll try keep track on whole of what we all lose together.

I'm still holding strong, but my children were monsters yesterday and I wanted to soothe with food. I didn't, thankfully, but I know the main reason is that I didn't want to post junk food in my food journal.
