Started exercising by snowshoeing every day last week except 1. Did well on my menus and water drinking. What did it get me?? Nothing. That is right, a big fat goose egg. I lost nothing. I know that weight loss is weird science but geez :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: I am going to add more exercise and tighten up my meals and snacks. I am discouraged but not defeated. :roll:

I finally went snowshoeing, but it was FREEZING! I go to a preserve that's on a hill, so if it's even slightly windy, I'm frozen. I really should go someplace in the woods, but this place is easy to get to, not too far from the main drag like most of my other choices. It was fun though - only one other person had been out in the area, and they were on xcrountry skis, so there was pristine snow for the most part! Only made it through about 30 min., though, it was cold and the snow was deep! I took pictures, but I almost froze my hands off trying to snap them without gloves. We're in for a deep freeze, so I really wanted to get out today - it was 20 degrees at high noon.

You won't necessarily see a drop in your weight every week even if you're doing everything right. Remember, you're doing this for your health, not just your waistline. And sometimes you can feel a loss in the way your clothes fit before it ever appears on the scale. Just keep doing what you're doing, don't cut back on the food unless you feel like you've been overdoing. You were probably ravenous after all your exercise today.

Soup is on the menu here daily. Still have at least another serving of my veggie-packed one from last night.

Stay warm!

Good Lord is it ever cold out with the wind chill. :!: I feel better about my hard work and still not losing. You are right Chris, it is about health and how I feel physically and not a number on a scale. I havent had heart burn since I started this woe. I have more energy and quite frankly I am fitting in my clothes so much better too. I wont be going snowshoeing today because of the cold and wind.

B-poached egg, ww toast, fruit
L-chef's salad, 1/2 cup yogurt
D-will be ww spaghetti with meatball and homemade sauce. salad

Dove dark chocolate keeps me sane. One or sometimes two of them are all it takes - it's so creamy and wonderful and I can make them melt in my mouth for a long time. My absolute favorite dessert. I have to hide them, though. When I first started eating them I stashed them in a kitchen canister, but DH found out and he'd wipe me out. That got me mad because he has plenty of other stuff to munch on - and he does, in addition to the chocolate. So now I hide them in a bin where I throw my gloves, small purses, and junk when I come in the door. I occasionally give one to DS when I'm having one and he's studying, but DH hopefully will never find them!

We only got about 2" yesterday, so I just scraped it off the base layer we now seem to have everywhere. But with all the driving I did yesterday - Japanese class in Hallowell, then UMA class in Rockland, my car was accumulating snow around the wheel wells and if I didn't keep after it, it would freeze and be murder to get off. I've never had that much slush attach itself to my car. The roads still aren't very clean so I've been afraid to let DS drive and he needs his driving practice so he can get his license already!

I'm envious of your snowshoeing. I should have thrown mine in the trunk yesterday and found some place to walk near Augusta. Gotta get moving!

I haven't lost anything in 4 months in a plateau, but I've dropped from a 16 to a 12/13 and I know I can pick up the exercise. More importantly (and I always have to remind myself) how did you feel physically before you started eating this way?

Snowshoeing or xc skiing tomorrow! :)

Thanks for sharing ChefK. I do ask myself how I feel and today the payoff of this woe was huge!! I had a doctor appointment and this is the results.
Blood pressure= 117/70 (was 140/82)
Cholesterol=118 ( was over 250)
Was taken off one of my two cholesterol meds and had the dosage lowered on the remaining one.
Fasting blood sugar 112 (down from 123)
Weight down 15lbs since the last visit in late summer!!!
No heartburn since I started with SB.
This was just the boost I needed1 I even came home and got on the snowshoes and went for about 45 minutes.
If for no other reason, my improved health is going to help me keep up with this woe and the exercise. :D :D :D

Wow, dotty! Those are awesome results. Weight loss is nice, but lowering your cholesterol and blood pressure is way more important. That's just fabulous! :D :D :D :D

Thanks Chris, I was so very happy with those numbers and how I feel.

Today was kind of a stinko day. DH and I had to go to sign an updated version of our trusts and the law office is almost 2 hours one way. The lunch we had out was OK diet wise , DH's shrimp was good but my salad with grilled chicken was yucky :P . Ate it but was not happy with it and not satisfied. Exercise was out of the question today because there was just no time.

B= regular egg/bean breakfast
L- a very forgettable salad with grilled chicken.
D- leftover mushroom beef barley soup, yogurt
S-string cheese, 2 dove chocolates

weigh in day tomorrow however I dont hold much hope for the scales to go down but my other accomplishments make me happiest anyway. :mrgreen:

Well, this makes me happy!

Hi, Dotty! Looks like you have just the right attitude. Hope weigh in goes well, and I know it will no matter what the number because we all know that number is not always indicitive of your accomplishments! No number can take away your accomplishments!

I hate when you hold out and go for the chicken salad to be good to yourself and your body and you're punished for it by the salad being a bust. Boo. I give that a big fat thumbs down! And you may not have gotten in a workout, but your food was on-point, so kudos!

Keep rockin. Have a great weekend.

Restaurants really need to do something about their healthy options. It's so disappointing to have a lackluster salad when it has the potential to be so good. It's like the salad with chicken is the afterthought of the kitchen. I think the best salad with chicken on it that I've had recently was at Wendy's of all places!

Thanks for the encouragement Lawn_gnome :)
You are so right about restaurants Chris. :cry:

Well I was right , no loss this week but that is OK. It will show up sometime and already has where it counts. I may never understand the weight loss thing. It definetly is not just about calories in/ calories out. There is a fine line between eating too much or too little. I hope to discover that line soon. I am a firm believer in "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got." Giving up is not an option. :mrgreen:
