It's great that you got your snowshoeing in even with your long day in the car. I still haven't gone, but we have a tiny fresh layer to make it clean again. I didn't get much done yesterday, I was soooo tired from running around all week and I woke up ridiculously early so just took a nap in the afternoon instead of heading out to the preserve. I think I'd do more if I could just walk out my door with the snowshoes, but I'm a townie so I have to drive somewhere.

Lawyers, taxes, and doctors! You must really be worn out! Your poor husband - seems like it never ends for him. I hope he at least gets to enjoy the between times when he is feeling better. Sounds like you both need some pampering!

Dotty, you are doing great! We got almost 2 feet of snow in CT - more there than there is at our place in VT! I love snow but tire of it quickly, especially when it happens during commuting time!

All the best to you and your DH ....

Thanks everyone for stopping by my journal. Today is beautiful here. We have a heavy snow cover that is still on the trees and the sun shining and the blue sky. It was a perfect day for snowshoeing which I did for about 45 minutes! It is easy for me Chris because we live on 10 acres so all I have to do is put on my snowshoes and head out the back door. It is both woods and fields so plenty of scenery changes.

Todays menu:
B- black bean, pepper and cheese topped with a poached egg
L-Large greek salad with a small slice of ultra thin crust veggie pizza
D- will be bean soup and salad with a small choc. for dessert
S- yogurt and fruit

Water intake was good and so was the exercise.

Tomorrow is my day out with my dear friend. We schedule one day a week to go and have fun. It helps me stay sane on the rest of the days of the week. Our calendar looks like not many appts so that is a relief. Got to finish the paperwork for the nursing home in re to my mother in law. I hate paperwork but love my mother in law.

You're so lucky that you can walk out your door and be in the woods! We had the choice when we looked for a house and I was pregnant with DH working nights, so I wanted to be in town. But the grass is always greener.

Tomorrow DH goes back to work, DS will sleep in, and I will be snowshoeing. Today we all went to Portland - did the mall, Newick's for lunch (salmon and veggies - one bite of DS's fried calamari!), and went to Trader Joe's to stock up on WINE!!
Have fun with your girlfriend tomorrow!

I love Trader Joe's!! I cant wait to plan a trip there. I have a couple of friends that would be up for the trip and hope to do it soon. My friend couldnt go today so I went off and spent the day with my best buddy, me. It was fun til the way home and I found myself not wanting to go back over the bridge. If I had my DH with me I might not have. I think I have an annual bout of "Islanditus" Oh well I will get past this too, it always happens this time of year.

Food so far today
B- regular bean and egg combo
L-salad with grilled chix
D- dont know yet but will definitely include a glass of merlot
S-none yet

It's definitely cabin fever time of year! We were all getting bad this weekend, hence the trip to Portland. DH is working so hard during the week and then comes home and usually does house projects, so he seriously needs to get out and have a life once in a while. We were thinking of going to the state museum in Augusta, but it's closed on Sundays.

The new Trader Joe's is fun, but it was pretty crowded on Sunday. They did have a lot of people working so there wasn't a long wait at the checkout or anything. It's just fun to walk around and look at all their goodies. DS, who usually shops at the big Hannaford in Portland, was pretty impressed with the prices. But he's not organized enough to go to two places every week - at least I don't think he is!

I love the Maine State Museum!! It is really fun. They have so many exhibits from all areas of the state. We forget how big our state is until we stop to think about it.

I gotta tell you Lakegran that this Island is a gorgeous place., I went out snowshoeing at 7 oclock this am and the trees loaded with snow was beautiful. I love seeing the rabbit and deer tracks in the snow. The lazy old deer are using my snowshoe trail as their new trail now. This may be over now that it is 36 degrees and raining

Todays menu
B- same bean, egg breakfast as usual, yogurt
L-Salad with some ham and cheese on it.
D= sweet potato, baked scallops, brussel sprouts, cauliflower
S-1 lite baby bell cheese, 2 dove chocolates.

Exercise: snowshoeing
Water intake good

Another beautiful but frigid day here on the coast of Maine. No wind so the snowshoeing was great but couldnt go until after the shoveling was done. It wasnt too bad just an inch or so.

B-bean/egg regular with 1 slice crisp bacon
L- salad with whole wheat mac and lo fat cheese(leftovers) and fruit
D- will be baked haddock, brusselsprouts, salad and 1 small chocolate
S-1 light babybell cheese and a few whole grain crackers, 1 small chocolate

Water intake pretty good and exercise as well.

I have been fighting the winter blues but the exercise does help. I cannot believe we have another big storm coming our way. I guess I have been spoiled but the last few "low snow" years.

It's great that you've gotten out in your snowshoes so much! Being out in the sun really helps your attitude, doesn't it? Looks like we'll have another round of snow tonight - fluffy stuff good for snowshoeing, if you can brave the frigid temps they're predicting!

Hi dotty! I just read over your journal and I want to tell you that I hope your husband is doing well. I'm so glad you're remembering to take care of yourself too. It's hard, I'm sure.

I have never even been to Maine, but just the other day I told my husband I want to live there someday. It sounds so beautiful. I just read a children's book by Cynthia Lord called Touch Blue and it takes place on an island off Maine. Oh, I fell in love with the descriptions! And your snowshoeing adventures must be so wonderful!

Yes Play-doh, Maine is beautiful but can be a bit isolated depending on where you are.
Snow is another 4 letter word that I can add to my list. It is getting a little much to have a huge storm every week. Really mother nature?? The good part is all the snowshoeing that I get to do. This morning it was a little wet with the temps near 30 but I had fun anyway. It is still coming down like gangbusters so there also will be plenty of shoveling for extra exercise. I was thinking about going out again but the wind is fierce and I am chicken.

B= same egg/bean yummy breakfast, fruit
L-chefs salad, yogurt, 6 multigrain crackers.
D- will be steak, salad, broccoli, small chocolate and wine
s- popcorn

Tomorrow is my weekly weigh in day. I am a little scared but I shouldnt be. I have exercised every day and eaten well with good water intake. I feel great and that should be all that counts.

I don't know about you, but I'm getting really tired of this snow every couple of days. I don't have room to put it! I just finished my second round in the driveway, and did the deck so we have more than one way to get in and out. Tomorrow if it's not frigid, I am going snowshoeing. The preserve should be gorgeous. First I may need to do some of my yoga stretches so my back recovers from today! I was on my own today - DS is sick and DH is at work. He can dig out the front of the house and our mailbox tomorrow!
