New season starts tonight! Sure hope there is less "drama" this time. I could do without all the game play. Was tempted to just watch the first one and then wait and watch the finale and skip all that garbage. Will see how it goes first.

Let's post our thoughts through this season to see what others are thinking!

So what did you think, Dene? I didn't catch all of it - I missed the beginning - but I will watch it online to see what I missed.

I came in at the part where the teams were picking who they wanted to train with. I was disappointed that we didn't get to see the weigh-in with the teams who picked the unknown trainers. I know there is no elimation/yellow/red line... but we WOULD like to see how successful they all were with the new trainers this first week! Allie said bits and pieces... like one man lost 41 pounds and set a new Loser record.... but I would have liked to have seen all of them. I guess we won't be seeing their weigh-ins for the next three weeks, either.

Ana seemed like a very kind-hearted and warm person. Everyone seemed to really like her, even after such a short time on the ranch. I have to say that from what I saw... almost everyone seemed to be very nice! Not another season with a Tracy? ha ha I was sorry to see Ana go, but glad to see her daughter stay.

I feel sorry for the man who has to lose 300 pounds. His dad hasn't changed his eating habits and only lost 7 pounds.... I would bet that the dad lost the LEAST amount of weight of anyone this week. (Hard to say since we didn't see the others weighed.) I don't know how long the dad is going to stay on the ranch, if he doesn't start changing his ways!

I can't even imagine how brutal those workouts must be!

I like seeing them all get started and hearing some of their stories. Who would you have picked for trainer if you had a choice? I think I would have stayed with Bob and Jillian. I wonder if the "unknowns" will be trying too hard to show that they know their stuff. I think I'd rather have B & J, since I know how they get results.

I feel sorry for the guy that weighs 507; and I don't want to sound heartless, but, I did notice that he just KEPT pulling the "poor me, I weigh 507 and nobody knows how hard this is" too many times for my taste. I just want to say, "yes, we know, now move on and drop the pity party--you're here to do something about it, not make excuses." I do think his dad's heart isn't in this and that he thinks it's too hard. Maybe that's why the son has that attitude, too. Hope they learn what they need to know.

Ana seemed nice and I love to see their "after" interviews when they've continued on and done well. She seemed so happy.

I just about laughed out loud when Jillian said she wasn't going to yell this season and Bob kept cracking up because he knows her so well.

Yes, I hope we see more focus on weight loss/life changes than drama this season. So far, so good!

I'm with you - I would have picked Bob and Jillian and then worked my butt off. Afterall, you and I both know that every single person there KNEW what they were getting into and how hard they would have to work to lose the weight. It's not like this is the first season and people didn't know what to expect!

It seems like the contestants are getting bigger and bigger. AND surprisingly enough, it seems like the ones who have the most to lose are the most successful! Amazing! I sure hope they can keep the weight off.

I also love seeing how well the people have done after leaving the ranch. Sometimes I am just blown away!

Have you noticed that they always pick the young women with the prettiest faces to be on the show? Everyone is so attractive in different ways. The only Biggest Loser contestants that I thought were somewhat ugly were those identical twins (grey shirts maybe?) who looked like cro-magnums. ha ha They weren't on the show long enough to get to know them.

To me... the biggest problem will be not seeing the contestants with the unknown trainers... America isn't going to root for them quite like the will the people they see week after week!

it's been crazy here in TN. We got 8-10 inches of snow Sunday night and it's absolutely nuts around here. No school, most businesses closed. Youngest came to stay with us during our "confinement" so I've been hanging with her. We watched BL together.

I, too, was thrilled that the ranch team won!!! I was really afraid all the bragging by Arthur meant the producers were setting us up for a big fall, but it turned out great. The bit with Arthur taking the donuts to the dumpster was hilarious. I felt his pain! I do think the ranch group is lacking in a leader for challenges. That was pitiful! You'd think maybe cops were better at leadership roles...or somebody! Bob seems to be showing more compassion than usual, it seems to me. What's up with Jillian being sick?

Well, there is my 2 cents worth. No clear fav so far, but it's early days yet.

Dene -

Did you see how FLAT the donuts were? HA HA HA HA HA!! When they first opened the box, I saw 2 or 3 that looked VERRRRRRY tempting! But when they were stomped to death, they weren't so appealing. I would have been shocked if Arthur had taken a bite out of one, lol. It just wasn't appetizing when it looked like a steamroller and attacked it, and it had fallen to the ground! I thought maybe Arthur might take a taste - I was proud when he didn't!

You are sooo right about lack of leadership skills! And right about the cop twins, too! This will probably sound very rude but.... I wonder if they come from a very small town or something? Our city has weight rules... a policeman has to be pretty fit to be able to run after people and do whatever the job entails. I also honestly don't think we have "desk jobs" at our PD, so no one gets to sit around!

About Jillian - she is such a health nut (and she's also so healthy) that it really shocked me that she missed the entire week! She must be pretty sick. If it were just a cold or something she would certainly have still been there for at least part of the week!

I also agree with you about no favorite person yet. I think we don't know them well enough. BUT... the ranch people are my clear favorites over the unknowns! The ranch people took the high ground and didn't stoop to little "mind-games!"

I wondered the same thing about the cop brothers. I love policemen--some of our best friends have been cops, but I agree with you. I asked my DD what she thought when we were watching it and she said maybe they have a desk job. They show pics of one in a patrol car, so I don't think so. But that's exactly what i said, "how do they chase down the bad guys???"

Yes, that definitely made the donuts less appealing, but I had a friend who threw away a candy bar once and then went back and got it out of the trash. When you crave something that badly, you throw common sense out. And Arthur didn't get to be over 600 pounds by being picky. I think it's great that he's lost down to 507, but when Dr. H told him how much fat he had on his body, it was outrageous. He really has to do it, or he's not going to live long and that's a shame when he can if he will.

I read somewhere that Jillian is leaving BL to have a baby. Do you think that's it????

Me too, I am pulling for the ranch team. I see that the unknowns are losing alot, but they're not showing much interaction so we don't know if they have the ability to "counsel" the people like Bob and Jillian. I think that's a huge part of the whole program. Most of the people on the show have some turmoil in their background that contributes to their weight problem. Bob and Jillian are always looking at the whole picture so the weight loss is a life-long change, not just a contest and then forgotten.

I am having my own reality check. My DH has a new health plan at work and we have to have a screening and enter into a partnership agreement for healthcare--meaning we'll promise to work on problem areas in our health in order to qualify for lower rates. I went online this morning to establish my "official record" and those crazy people want to know my waist measurement!!! I asked my DH how honest I had to be. Really, they don't care where you start from, as long as you are working on it. After the holidays, plus being snowed in all week, I hated to get on the scale or measure myself, but I did. It is not good news. But I'm not giving up. My life is too precious to ignore the things I have the ability to change.

Hey Dene!

Well it turns out that Jillian had the flu.

Could you believe the cop brothers each GAINING 9 pounds in week three? Oh PLEASE!! I was thinking about how many people really want to be on that show and train with Jillian and Bob - and these two guys come and after a couple of weeks they are big weenies. I have a hard time believing they are cops. It has GOT to be some really dinky hillbilly town!

My theory is that the one who has the 9 year old daughter was so homesick he wanted to go home. He said it constantly last night - he even said that if he were above the yellow line he would trade places with someone BELOW the line. I think he decided to gain weight so that he could be sent home.. but he feared the backlash and couldn't take the criticism of people accusing him of deliberately trying to leave (even though that's exactly what he did).... so his twin decided to gain weight too, to throw everyone off.

If the twin brother goes below the line next week, I hope they all send him right home. I'm shocked that the one at home actually DID lose weight. That was a total surprise!

I am wondering if it was a huge mistake to split the teams like they did - and have one at the ranch and the other at some "secret" location. There is clear animosity between the two sides and when they mix the groups up - wow - it might get pretty interesting! lol

Hey Kyan,
No way those guys gained 9 pounds without trying. That was insane. I think he just wanted to go home, too. I hate that he missed his daughter, but did he not realize what he was in for when he signed up??? Crazy. I know he's suffering about his son, but he does need to get some grief counseling or something. It's gonna kill him. I can say that with certainty. I, too, lost a son. Mine was murdered at the age of 21 back in 1998. No, you never get over it, but you do realize that you have to keep living yourself. He can't blame himself for his son's death. We all make mistakes in parenting, but ultimately, his son made his own choice.

I, too, picked up on the high level of animosity between the two teams. Not sure the divisiveness is going to be a pretty thing later on. The loyalty in each team is commendable right now, but they need to realize that it can't last forever. You can love everyone on your team all you want, but when you have to vote someone off, that's another story. The decisions are not always going to be so straightforward as last night's was.

My jaw dropped when Dr. H told that girl she was 58% body fat and would have to exercise 90 minutes a day/6 days a week for the rest of her life!!!

My DD called during the first commercial and said, "wow, that new trainer is hot!" Even though I'm not a young chick, I had to agree. I still think I'd rather work with Bob and Jillian. Yeh, I heard Jillian say she had flu. I did some googling last week, too, and found articles that indicate Jillian would rather adopt than go through a pregnancy.

I made it to the gym today, first time since before Christmas. Took it kind of easy since it's been awhile. I keep reminding myself that if they can do it on BL, then surely I can spend a little while on the elliptical without dying.

Interesting news about Jillian. I would bet you money that the reason she wants to adopt is that she - A) Doesn't want to gain weight/stretch out her body with a pregnancy and B) she doesn't want to give up the level of exercising she does right now and she would probably have to tone it down a bit if she were actually pregnant.

As always, I could be wrong! Just my opinion. There is also the factor that if she leaves on maternity leave, the Biggest Loser will probably replace her permanently with these new trainers. You and I both know that the show wouldn't have Jillian on there training the people while she was pregnant. They want the audience to see how fit and toned and thin she is. It's a real motivator.

Speaking of hot - that chef is hot, too - and I don't even care for blondes! That food they cooked looked SOOOO good! I have a couple of the Biggest Loser cookbooks and I LOVE most of the recipes. Some of it is so so, but some of it is terrific! And almost all of it is South Beach friendly!

Great job on the exercising today. The helliptical is HARD.... and it really burns calories (much more than the Dreadmill) so you did great! My plan is to do the Helliptical tonight, too. I WAS doing 30 minute workouts, but now I am thinking that I probably don't work out long enough.

I can't even imagine having 58% body fat. That is very VERY sad!

when I go regularly to the gym, I usually put in an hour, but since I've been awol lately, I thought I'd better work back up. Then I came home and got on my wii fit that I got for Christmas. Hateful thing said my "age" is 4 years older than I really am. Ugh. That's what I get for pigging out and not exercising in the recent past.

There were quite a few articles about Jillian. Some quoted her as saying pregnancy "ruins" a body. Then other articles said she didn't actually say it that way. Sounds like any or all of your ideas might be correct.

Curtis Stone just doesn't do it for me. The food looked good, though, except I don't like fish. I've always gone for the darker haired guys--Starsky instead of Hutch, Luke Duke instead of Bo Duke....yep, I'm that old!!!

you're right. I can get my heart rate up much easier on the elliptical, though I sometimes split my time between it and the treadmill. And now that I have the wii, my DD bought me the BL for wii, too, so I can let Jillian yell at me while I exercise. Ha. This way I can yell right back!!!

I have not started exercising yet.....but know it is something I have to do in order to be
successful at the beach. I have the Wii fit too and te BL also....but must admit that I have
not even tried the BL one yet......maybe next week.

I am anxious to see how the cop bro does on his own at the ranch. I wonder if the others will have an attitude towards him for last week's obvious lack of effort??? I kind of like Jay's attitude so far. I haven't noticed him complaining about the work and actually thanks Bob for pushing him.

Not to beat a dead horse, but we all know that exercising is not just beneficial for weight loss; we need it for other reasons. I know I do, so that is a motivation in itself. I need to strengthen my bones, as I refuse to take the osteoporosis meds the doc prescribed. Found a site where people talked about all the horrible side effects, and I decided that I'd take my chances without it. Exercise helps strengthen the bones, so I remind myself of that. Plus I keep reading about regular exercise helping digestion, even some types of cancer. Suzzi, when you said you needed motivation to get started, please join me in doing this for ALL the right reasons!!!

No big surprises last night. I think we all knew cop bro didn't want to be there. It was unreal that Irene actually helped him go home by gaining weight herself! Since we haven't seen much of Q except for a few clips of everyone jumping on him for not trying, I hope they made the right decision to send his wife home. I would have, too, since she wanted to go, but I hope Q keeps his word and gives 100% from now on. I guess I'm partial to the ranch teams since we got to know them better. Glad Arthur and Jesse did well this week. Was very touching when Jillian choked up about the girl and the backbend.

Well, I'm off to the gym.
