SBD Group - Jan 3, 2011 Start Date

Postby Chaddeh » Mon Jan 03, 2011 12:26 am

All,

I'm starting this thread for other fellow SB dieters who have a Phase I Start Date within the next two weeks.

Just a thought of what has helped me on another forum, was that there were "quit groups", where you were paired with others with the same "quit date" as you, and each day you had to log in and post how many days you were "quit" (in this case smokeless tobacco - ewww!). I found it to be very helpful, as the group kinda helped each other along, and when someone missed a day, they tried to email them/IM them, whatever in order to make sure they were still going strong. Worked for me, as I have been quit for over 3 years now!

So I invite any other fellow SBD'ers to participate.

With that said, allow myself to introduce myself (lol!)...

My name is Chad, 34 years old, married to a great wife, and we are expecting our first child in May. I have tried South Beach before, and it was very effective, losing over 40lbs in 3 months. However, for whatever reason, I didn't keep on my phase II plan, and things got out of control, and I find myself today at my heaviest weight ever, 267lbs. I try and tell myself that I'm tall (6'3") as if that makes it ok, but it is certainly not ok... I'm about 68lbs overweight, and my cholesterol is over 300. On my first go round with South Beach, in that 3 month period, I went from over 300 total cholesterol, down into the 180's. I need to do the same this time.

I'm hoping that being a more active participant in this forum community will help me maintain the course, as others will encourage me, and hopefully I can provide some encouragement to newcomers as well.

Good luck to us all, we can do this!

Thanks,

Chad

Welcome to this forum and back to SB.........
Journalling is the key for me ... I tend to need the support I get here. I too, lost the weight I wanted to lose a few years ago.. but slowly drifted from this WOE because I wasn't accountable to anyone. I stayed with the basics I had learned here, but eventually began succomb to my greatest weakness, bread ....any kind ....every meal ( and snack  ) So now I expect to stop here every morning from now on, draw support from my SB friends and just enjoy this beachy life. I hope you will too.

Hi Chad and Lakegran. I'll be glad to be a part of this group. I'm not sure I'll be able to stop by every day, but I'll try. I have a journal (Play-doh's Journal) and I think it's immensely helpful for me to have a place to vent and think out loud. But group support might be just what I need to make a better go of SBD this time.

My name's Paris and I'm 47. During my 20's and 30's my weight hovered around 125 to 135 but right about when I hit 40 and my kids were in school and I went back to work, my weight has been a struggle for me. I am at an all-time high of 152 (I am 5'6") which I simply do not carry well at all. I've seen women who weigh a lot more than I do and they look fantastic, but for me to feel confident, I need to be a little thinner. My health is good so, I have to admit, my desire to lose weight is mostly a vanity thing. But I also want to feel like I'm in control of what happens next. Truly, what's to stop me from gaining another ten pounds in the next year?

So, my goal is to lose 22 pounds in 2011.

Hi! I confess, I don't really have any weight to lose necessarily, for me SB is more about the way of life and making good eating and activity choices so that I don't put on the weight. I did SB for a couple of months this summer and it felt great! I have since slipped back into old lazy habits and I have been drinking far too much. I think taking complete control again with SB and with accountability on the boads is the way to go!

I will be starting tomorrow (enjoying the last of my holiday break today!) and I am putting together a meal plan for the week. Phase one sucks!! But it truly is incredible how the cravings GO AWAY!

I will do my best to be part of this group as well! I started today (Jan 3rd). I have about 18 lbs I would like to lose. I did SB a few years ago after having our middle child and I did well. Now, after child number 3 I am coming back to lose the baby weight once again. I like the idea of being accountable to someone, even if it is just via the computer. I do not have any health issues, thank goodness, and my motivation is also pure vanity but I am really looking forward to having my body back one again (and for good- as this was our last child...). I also have some exercise goals I would like to meet for this year such as run 2 5ks and 1 10k and I feel that SB will help me on my way to reaching those goals (18 lbs less to run with, right? lol).

Today has been a little struggle. I didn't pack enough food so I am pretty hungry at the moment. I will head home and make grilled chicken salads for dinner for the family and I! I need to pick up some SF fudge pops on my way home from cheerleading since I am craving something sweet!!

Well I am on Day 2 and so far am feeling great and doing really well. I am a little hungry at the moment I am making a "Taco" Salad for dinner. Ground Sirloin Salad and Pico. I will let the rest of the family pile on the Cheese and sour cream lol. Has any one tried the phase 1 peanut butter cookies I have read so much about??? Is there a recipe?? I would love to try them.

I also would like to join this group. I will do my best to check in daily. I have tried SB one othe time and lost 30 pounds but went back to my old habits so now I'm trying again. I've always struggled with my weight, probably done every diet available so this time I am trying to change my life style. My doctor recommended SB because my cholesterol is pretty high. She strongly believes in SB. I have about 40 pounds that I would like to lose.
I started today and did pretty well.
This is the first time I have joined a group like this and I'm looking forward to the support from the group.

January 2011 Start Date Group!
Going to make it happen in 2011!
January 3, 2011

Chaddeh - Day 1 - Glad to see everyone joining in. I made it through the day pretty good, had about 30 mins of light cardio on the elliptical upstairs, and then ate clean today. No real headache yet, I'll try and keep my veggie intake up. If its your first time, usually about 2-3 days in if you aren't getting all your veggies, you may experience some headaches (at least its been my experience).

Thanks again!

"Posting Roll Call" is a daily promise we make to our fellow dieters that we will stay the course. Dieting can seem overwhelming, so you should just make posting your "roll call" a daily activity and it will help with the routine!

How to post a daily roll call:

Step 1 - Find the most recent Roll Call reply in this thread.
Step 2 - Click on the "Quote" button in the bottom right hand corner of that Roll Call.
Step 3 - Highlight then delete the text that includes the user name of the previous poster that looks something like this [quote="Chaddeh"]
Step 4 - Highlight then delete all of the last line of text which reads: [ /quote ].
Step 5 - Type your info after the last name in the roll call.
Step 6 - Below the box you just typed in, scroll down and click on the "Submit" button.
Step 7 - Pat yourself on the back, because you have just made a promise to your fellow dieters that you will stay the course for that day.
Step 8 - Come back tomorrow and we'll do it again!

Your diet group is the group of people who have started SBD about the same time as you. These fellow dieters will be going through similar experiences around the same time as you, and you can benefit from sharing these common experiences with each other.

**The main info is your member name and the # of diets days you are on. But you can include other info if you choose.***

Like I said, no biggie if we don't chose to do it this way, or if you have any trouble posting the roll call. we'll get it eventually!

Below is an example of what it would like like from my old forum I was telling you about:

Chaddeh - Day 2 - Pretty good day today, had a hard time getting up and getting on the elliptical though. Felt good though when finished. Eggs/Turkey Sausage Breakfast, a chef salad for lunch, couple snacks (string cheese / mixed nuts), and then for dinner had chili and charro beans. Still thing I need to layer in more veggies, but it will be ok. Hope everyone is doing well.

Day three for me today. I got a great run in this morning and had lots of energy all day. I have been feeling sluggish all through the holidays so the burst of energy today was quite welcomed! I ate a ton of veggies today! It's a good thing I like them so much :D

Chaddeh- great job getting up and getting on the elliptical. My motto is "I will never regret getting up and working out..... but always regret NOT getting up."
